Fred... Brazil international?

Been threatened by his own fans in Brazil and wants to leave. Has played at Lyon and suits the price range and calibre of signing we would go for these days... Just throwing that one out there.

So a week after moving to New York I come here to find:

1. No new signings.

2. People still desperately trying to defend the owners.

3. People still slating the owners.

4. People with the reading age of seven being allowed to fill the board with drivel.

In this circumstance I am reminded of the words that I believe were a favourite of our previous owners:

"Business as usual".

Reading through the last few pages it seems as though we have an inevitable case of standard dropping. Now people seem to have accepted whatever happens now as a bonus rather than accepting that we needed another five or six players. Perhaps this is healthy.

For me, I'm holding my fingers firmly crossed and hoping that by the end of this month, we will have good quality players on that pitch I hold so much love for, now 4,000 miles away.

Of course Krish Naidoo has nothing to do with Venky's.

And we are going to make a signing a day between now and next Saturday.

And they will all be ready to play against Wolves

And they will play really really well and do pretty football and score gazillions of goals

And we will have a great season

Sleep tight, sweet dreams Hughesy.

PS Don't go having nasty nightmares about the witch of Pune really meaning what she says about making a cost saving of £120k per week from the wages bill

I know the wage costs are obscene but try writing down a first eleven and seven subs with those four gone and only Petrovic and Vierinha added- and as things stand neither of those are actually signed are they?

And please don't give me guff that we will sign more players as the message could well be about an austerity drive given the way Kentaro blew Rovers' money away when they were in charge of the day to day running of the club.

-22 and counting Phillip.

"The witch from Pune" fits in nicely with "Evil Kean."

The four players you mention, that are vital to Rovers...lets see...

1. Vince Grella

2. Niko Kalinic

3. EHD

4. Keith Andrews

Which of those 4 players did you expect to see on the BENCH this season let alone in the first alone? How many of those players have taken part in pre season games? Grella?

I am horrified that those 4 are on £120K a week, the only good thing with the negotiations was that Grella got £5K for single appearances- quality clause!

1. Robbo

2. Salgado

3. Nelsen

4. Samba

5. Olsson

6. Hoilett

7. Petrovic

8. Nzonzi

9. MGP

10. Goodwillie

11. Roberts

Subs:

1. Dunn

2. Emerton

3. Givet

4. Formica

5. Rochina

6. Hanley

7. Morris

Your 11 starters with 7 subs, all of whom we expect to play this season. Ofcourse we need new players, that is obvious but no need to exaggerate!

Minus 24!

The people have spoken and, to para phrase Youtube, ' 24 people think Phillipl is a **** '

Anybody with any decency would sling it at this point. Therefore, I fully expect you to be back soon :(

good crop of youngsters coming through, add a few more experienced guys and we will be doing well this season. I'm feeling very optimistic about this season, because it appears that our young players will finally be given a chance. They should be motivated, its a big opportunity for them to show what they made of. Big name signings are always nice, but sometimes we want to give a promising kid an opportunity to progress as well. I do hope we bring in 1 or 2 quality strikers and another defender and midfielder besides Petrovic, and we will not struggle.

A list of 18 players - though Petrovic has not signed as yet. Yet were allowed a squad of 25. Can you see Rovers buying 7 players before the transfer window closes. It has taken months just to buy one.

Two journos on Sky TV predicted Rovers to be relegated yesterday. One stated the club is in a mess.

I would be laughing at them as we prove them wrong when we survive next season.

On the other hand, if they are right I will be crying in a corner when we go down.

I do believe we will survive, though.

2 out of 4 said the same on Norwegian TV2. One had us at rock bottom in the table.

To fill up the last places of the squad I would like to see these players given a chance to some first team action:

- Jason Lowe

- Zac Aley

- Adam Hanley

- Jackson Ramm

- James Knowles

Leave the slating of individuals on this board out it's getting extremely stupid, PhillipL has a right to his opinion and does not deserve to be slated for pointing out he has been a fan since the early 60s (Especially as it was in response to being accused of not being a fan).

He is a passionate fan as many of us are and he has my respect for what he has achieved in RL even if he may seem over negative on here.

I can also see where he is coming from Emerton, Dunn and Nzonzi missed a fair few games between them (including all 3 being out at the same time) last season and I can't see Salgado and Nelson being able to play every single game next season. So our priority should be getting in new players not going into overdrive to flog the few we still have.. I also think it's highly disrespectful to flaunt players wages openly, that is not a good way to do business, I am sure no one who reads this forum would like their wages spread about publically (not to mention a few others might be unhappy that certain players are earning more).

And imy Grella, Andrews and Niko all got involved in pre-season friendlies (Niko missed the later ones due to fallout with manager and Andrews missed a few with international duty then injury)... still you did miss the Ribeiro kid and Myles Anderson who have featured allot in pre-season *cough*

I guess we will have to wait until the season is well under way to find out how we will do.

I'm not going to add to the list of people having a go at Phil but I would say it's pretty obvious we will have 2 premier league players on loan this year. We generally have used loans in the past and I see no reason why this season will differ. So that's 2 more positions covered.

I'm also unsure why Mrs Desai has been referred to as the wicked witch for wanting to shift 4 average players off the wage bill. Did any of those players actually do anything to help us out last year?? If we can shift that money off the wage bill it has to be a good thing.

I would be asking questions as to why we seem to have been throwing £30k per week contracts about like candy.

As an aside.. the squad you mentioned Imy only has 12 players who have played more than 5 premier league games.. 6 players over 31.. not a single player who has scored more than 1 in 4 in a top league.. and 2 first team starters who are not just kids but have never played in the EPL.

I am excited to see how the kids will do but would feel allot less sceptical about the coming season with just another couple of half decent players.

The bottom line is we need signings but it should come as no shock we are trying to move on players who don't fit into our managers plans. Every other club in the league is doing exactly the same. This is why every time Spurs get linked with Samba we get linked with anyone of 5 of their reserve side.

On the striker front we are in exactly the same position as most other clubs, especially the ones with the same level of ambition as us. Bolton, Stoke, Everton and Wigan are yet to make big signings and the 3 promoted clubs haven't exactly set the world alight.

We will no doubt be relegation favourites with a few pundits on Sky who work with Big Sam but we are not that far off a top ten side if we can add two players of quality to add to excellent youth players.

This transfer window is yet to start so the next couple of weeks should be interesting.

I see you are going 4-4-2, a formation that Kean rarely uses.

Now, work on the basis that we have a good season for injuries and suspensions and that we have only three of those players unavailable at any one time and put them into the 4-3-2-1 formation Kean is likely to start with.

Start off by taking Salgado, Nelsen and Hoilett out- the players most recently unavailable through carrying knocks.

And as for signing players, what confidence have you get we will when it appears that nobody except the yet to be signed Petrovic (whom is in your squad) and Vieirinha is remotely on the horizon this morning?

Remember, we are talking people of the calibre of Everton's turnstile manager, Leicester's marketing manager, an Indian small ads for the Indian market maker and this new Indian chap who Nicko borrowed his sales brochure from running our transfer business plus Kean whose name stinks the length and breadth of football and the chicken farmers themselves who are at best a standing joke and at worst deeply distrusted in the football world.

Obviously the likelihood is that EHD, Grella and Andrews will still be with us on 1 September given the fact that anybody negotiating with Rovers can now do so with our cards completely face up. Those three players will know that the OWNERS tried to shift them considering them to be a waste of money and dinosaurs from the pre-Venky's era. A great way to motivate your players and to make Dunn, MGP and Bert feel part of the show as well.

And are you confident that intended £120k per week saving is anything other than a straight saving if they can offload those players?

My personal view is I'd keep EHD and Grella. If fit and motivated, they are both undoubtedly of proven PL quality. And we are down to under 11 players of that stature if they are cleared out.

Let's face it, Venky's are bumbling fools.

First of all I don't think he will end up at Rovers at all. I just want to discuss the issue:

I wonder if Benzema will think it is time to move after Real Madrid reportedly have reached an agreement with Santos for their striker Neymar.

IF he moves there might become available strikers on the market - either sale or loan. Depends on which clubs he sees as a likely destination though.

I expect an apology for the mocking of my Grella shirt a couple of years ago, Philip!

Whilst I agree with a part of your first point, the 2nd one I would reply simply with these 2 points:

1. They said the same last year

2. So what?

And to add a point of my own,

I would suggest that the squad is stronger than it was at this point last season already, and cutting out the dead wood will help the club and the team, lets face it, who actually wants anyone on that list at this club? Answer, No one!

I'd recommend patience still, far more positives than negatives, don't let the vortex take you down without a fight fella. :-)

Since when has Grella been fit and eHD been motivated though Phil???

Spot on Ricky!

Spot on, my backside.

Okay, Grella has never been fit long enough to make an impact. But Diouf, like or loathe him, is an excellent footballer. He's been badly mis-managed by Kean since the QPR cup-tie. But I would never, ever question his motivation or effort on the pitch.

Grella is NOT proven PL quality. Can't tackle, can't pass and doesn't score goals. Anytime he does get the ball it is lumped into the corners for someone to chase. It is also worth remembering that one summer he was our big signing so maybe we shouldn't be too depressed this summer. The sooner Mrs Desai's budgie gets rid the better.

I agree partly. I would never question Dioufs motivation or effort on the pitch. He is a winner and loves to win. Thats for sure. However he has lost his pace and would be a break in todays team. We saw many times under Sam that Dioufs tactic was holding the ball up and getting a free-kick. Ill much rather see roaming wingers ie hoilett, olsson, rochina etc

We have Emerton, Hoilett, Formica, Rochina, Olsson, Pedersen who are able to play the wing position in a better manner than Diouf did. I would never like to see his name on the sheet in front of any of our youngsters.

I also think he may be a dispruptive element in the player group. He has had 8 different clubs for the last 10-12 years and only under Sam has he managed more than 4 years at a club.

Rangers doesn't want him back either. That has to say something I think.

  • Moderation Lead

Whilst the leaking of our players salaries is unacceptable, I think anyone could have identified the players as surplus to requirements (barring EHD wanting to be here).

I've only seen Grella have one good game for us, and I must have seen him play maybe 20 times, if that for BRFC. Such a waste of money.
