steo Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Not much of a barometer of skill but he looked good against shelbourne last week Shamrock Rovers not Shels
Kamy100 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 didnt you post last week, that rovers had a new number 1 target.. that you couldnt name him, had been sworn to secrecy and he was better than milito ?? not sniping.. just a question. i am confused ?? Your allowed to snipe There was another target but that didn't even get beyond the query stage as his club said not for sale at the moment situation may change in January.
tonyoz Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 good find, chaddy. maybe thats the mystery defender. he's no world beater.. but is solid and he would allow olsen the play on the wing. my only question is- are there better left backs out there than him ?? for 4m.. i suspect there are.. Well, it's just been on the local news here - our old mate Lucas Neill is hawking his talent around the provinces since his release by Galatasaray. Heh heh!
Steve Moss Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 why lately is nicko just trying to drag are club threw the dirt, he the only journalist reporting all this and seams to find enjoyment doing it also Possible reasons: 1. His sources have dried up as a result of the Venkys mole hunt (mentioned by others). 2. He's frustrated that with so many people making decisions for Venkys, with one contradicting the other, that he can't ever be "right" on a story. 3. His second best buddy, Steve Kean, has been sidelined on transfer activity so can't feed Nicko juicy tidbits; or, 4. Some other reason I can't think of. Nothing story are you sure. . . . 2 A Player or Club may retain only the services of an Authorised Agent or Exempt Solicitor in relation to any Agency Activity, or represent themselves. . . . So if Naibo (or whatever his name is) is a Rover's employee there is no issue? If so, it seems like a storm in a teacup.
Veevs Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Ribeiro deal looks to be almost done. Still puzzles me how he has got a work permit, how we picked him up etc etc.. the lad wasnt even a regular for his clubs in brazil (40 games in 9 years). Not against us picking up free players from abroad, but seems a very odd transfer to me surely there has to be a reason he failed in Brazil. Well countdown to new season has really begun in earnest now, still short a defender, a midfielder and a couple of strikers imo.. will be interesting to see what sort of loan players we get this season. Anyone got an updated list of freebies still available.. there where some decent names in there but quite a few have now been taken.
Veevs Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Anyone think the defender Kean mentioned could be Joseph Yobo?
patrickvalery Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Ribeiro deal looks to be almost done. Phew! I was starting to panic on this one.
PAFELL Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Possible reasons: 1. His sources have dried up as a result of the Venkys mole hunt (mentioned by others). 2. Krish Naidoo is not an agent, hence Nicko - in the mirror - saying Rovers are on thin ice.
whalleyrover Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 i used to enjoy Nicko's comments, however perhaps Nicko does have information which is true and as fans WE should be worried that there are serious problems within the club. Hope not.
PAFELL Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 i used to enjoy Nicko's comments, however perhaps Nicko does have information which is true and as fans WE should be worried that there are serious problems within the club. Hope not. But this is the right way of speaking out, via the media. (unlike what is happening today in our cities) I hope Nicko does an article about how 'some' of us feel with regards to the owners and the manager. Write about the concerns some of us have. I also hope he does an article about the costs for supporters to watch a football match or the wages players and agents are on. Sometimes the media can be a pain in the butt, yet sometimes can be a help in voicing concerns.
hawkiiz Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 So if Naibo (or whatever his name is) is a Rover's employee there is no issue? If so, it seems like a storm in a teacup. That's what I think too. I can't see the problem in using a guy to advertise players, and then talk to the agents, clubs etc.
Atomicrover Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 If a "Journo" writes that such and such a player is available and woukd cost £x, is it not the same?
neophox Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Is Niclas Bendtner the striker kamy is talking about? Seems he's off from Arsenal, but there must be better strikers available.
philipl Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Krish Naidoo- the risk Rovers have is one of straws on the camel's back. It appears that Venky's operating philosophy is that rules and laws are there to be broken, bent or generally bought out. There is a mass of stuff sitting in files at the PL and FA about Rovers but with Kentaro around they knew exactly how far to go and the smoking gun which would have allowed the timid football authorities to act never appeared. Now Kentaro are no longer involved, their infrastructure which prevented Mrs D from over stepping the mark has disappeared. She appears to be have been totally ignorant of how things that directly impact something as important as millions of ponds of cash flow work so I doubt she has ploughed her way through the FA and PL rule books. Goodwillie- a name that had been around quite some time before I started the thread which went up when I felt pretty convinced it would happen. It actually took an inordinate amount of time to get the signature on the contract.
Fraserkirky Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Is Niclas Bendtner the striker kamy is talking about? Seems he's off from Arsenal, but there must be better strikers available. I actually rate him very highly and he'd would be the the big donk up front for us. Still young and reckon he'd come. Would make sense if he's the one we're after.
alexanders Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 IMO Nicklas Bendtner would be a very good option for the striker. He is able to play a lone target and is potentially a very good striker. I think he needs some change. The only downside is that apparently he is quite a cockney superstar.
Veevs Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Finding it pretty strange with all these people with contacts these days no one has confirmed who the defender we have actually bid for is... No one know who this chap is? This plus the silence (bar the occasional silly one) speaks volumes about how deals are being done at the moment (if they are actually being done), personally hoping that the circle in the know has shrunk and we are in for some suprises.. well I hope we are in for some suprises as Sat is starting to look scary (thank goodness Wolves don't have any big strikers). At least Petkovic should be sorted one way or another today.. anyone know the time of his hearing?

You have always said that FA and authorities have been waiting to pounce on Rovers BECAUSE of Kentaro and JA, now they "knew exactly how far to go?" which is it? 2. Kentaro are NOW perceived to have been our saviours because Mrs. D is "totally ignorant", whereas before Mrs D was the smart, intelligent woman who was taken advantage of by Kentaro and JA- allegedly, according to you- which is it? 3. Finally the Goodwillie thread, you merely posted a link to the Guardian (http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/jul/29/blackburn-rovers-david-goodwillie-dundee0united), "I felt convinced it would happen"- as far as I am aware NO one on the message board hinted even at this signing, yet you know claim insider info... mmm... "inordinate time to get the signature" July 29th was the date on the article, he signed on 3rd August- THREE working days.
philipl Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Dream on imy Veevs- defender could be Onouha but looks like Bolton are winning that race.
imy9 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Dream on imy Veevs- defender could be Onouha but looks like Bolton are winning that race. Which parts have I dreamt up? Why don't you address the issues raised?

One minute you want rid of Kentaro & Jerome....next minute you use it as a stick. Where is your evidence that there is a mass of files at the PL & FA? Or are you simply putting your thoughts/ negativity accross as fact once again??
