Kelbo Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 It was rochina who roberts was to have said "He's got a left wand".But yes wingers often do play on there weaker side these days to cut inside and shoot. Because if they are moving from right to left, a left footed player can turn and shhot quickly towards the corner from where he came, the goalkeeper is on his wrong foot and the ball is hit accross the keeper!! Vice versa to a right footed player coming in from the left.

pick32 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 It's not a question of Keane or Benjani because one demands a fee whilst the other one doesn't. what if you looked at this way Roberts, Keane, Rochina, goodwillie, (£4million striker) Roberts, Rochina, Goodwillie, Benjani (£7million Striker) - my preferred option.

Benjani is Crap!!! End of! anyway he is going to sign for Stockport and Hamann. Didn't want last season and don't want him thiS season either.
pick32 Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Take benjani out and i would still rather the secound option.
Neal Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Sinead Kissane TV3 sports presenter has just tweeted back to me regarding Keane: "Didn't hear that one but will be interesting to see where he goes"
67splitscreen Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I think he'll do more than OK for Forest, I watched a bit of their match at the weekend, and all they lacked was a bit more guile up front, he'll gve them that. I hope he does anyway. More twitter garbage, signed with Leicester, along with Michael Ball.

This. Agree with your choice as well. I do rate Keane though.
magicalmortensleftpeg Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 We should only be looking at the likes of Keane/Bentley after we've signed our first choice striker/CB. There are far more concerning moves to be made in the market before thinking about Robbie Keane, a player who did very very little at West Ham on loan last season. He'd give the squad more depth which is important but right now we need first team players and Keane aint one of them.

Neal Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I wouldn't be surprised if Rovers completely give up on bidding for any Tottenham and Arsenal players to avoid any involvement of Chris Samba. They will want to keep that situation as quiet as possible and won't want to give big Chris the opportunity to have his head turned. If that is the case then I think that is for the best.
Bazzanotsogreat Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Keane no thank you. 31 big wages. An overall pacakge (inc transfer) on 3 year deal will be 10-12 million for him. With no sell-on

Fife Rover Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 reluctantnicko Alan Nixon by glen9mullan Rovers about to appoint a new director of football ... Hopefully a bit in Mirror in morning ... Well IF this is true I just hope that the person concerned actually knows a bit about football. Up to now Venkys don't seem to have grasped this idea

Can't see why we would give up bidding but it would probably make those clubs even harder to deal with if we refused to make Samba part of any deal. With regards to Samba's head being turned, perhaps Mr Bentley could inform him that the grass isn't always greener
Veevs Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 reluctantnicko Alan Nixon by glen9mullan Rovers about to appoint a new director of football ... Hopefully a bit in Mirror in morning ... Suprised it has not happened yet.. not a huge fan of DoFs but given Venkys limited football knowledge, their location and Keans lack of experience it might be a good move. The only problem is can Venkys get someone to do the job right (i.e. Not Maradona)? And why the hell did they leave it to a couple of days before the season starts.

With regards to Samba's head being turned, perhaps Mr Bentley could inform him that the grass isn't always greener Well, IF we have money to spend then there is no logical reasoning to let Samba go to get players in. I don't think Samba would be the slightest bit interested in Bentley's failings (although he should) as he has already made noise about leaving for a "bigger club". I honestly feel that they will avoid dealings with those clubs for fear of upsetting Samba so close to the end of the window... Let's remember we've found it more than difficult to replace Phil Jones so far.
Speedie Dived Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 So roughly 2 weeks to go before the end of the window we are looking to bring in a DOF? God bless forward planning. It's like the team bus setting off down the M6 and deciding to finally hire a coach driver at Watford.

Kelbo Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 anyone think some one like rafa benitez as dof Well, he lives down that way!! Chester that is
Neal Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 anyone think some one like rafa benitez as dof I hope not. Fat, greedy, disrespectful piece of filth that bloke.
Veevs Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 Blimey 10 1/2 weeks gone.. 3 days to go and we have signed 2 young unproven lads.. excited by both of them but we still need 3-4 more players.
bringdunnback Posted August 9, 2011 Posted August 9, 2011 I live in Chester, any chance Ive been given the job and they haven't told me. Re. transfers, surely a director of football appointment would mean he now has his own idea on what type of players he wants, is he going to be over ruling Kean? Otherwise, what exactly would his role be?
