So roughly 2 weeks to go before the end of the window we are looking to bring in a DOF? God bless forward planning.

It's like the team bus setting off down the M6 and deciding to finally hire a coach driver at Watford.

Brown has only just left though, give them a chance.

Robbie Keane or Michael Owen? Didn't Kean discuss something with SAF some days ago? Could be Owen joining?

Owen more interested in horses than football these days too...

yeh ive seen that but why should it to turn into i know but you dont so there , its like people love making us play some kind of guessing games ,its like school boy stuff

I don't see it that way, there are 100's of reasons why people cannot blab it out. Snippets of info help people get there quicker, so in essence they are helping people work out who the player/DOF is.

I'll tell you what else helps people work out who it is - telling them, then letting them search the Internet for information on the guy

Based on the half-factoids we've been graced with from above, it's clearly going to be Simon Hunt who is to be appointed as DoF. Great, another step towards champions league qualification. Well done Venky's...

I'd be delighted if it was Rafa, or anyone of any noteworthyness whatsoever, but whoever is appointed will definitely steer us through the last 20 days or so of this transfer window with great success.

It will depend on what you want the DoF to do. Would you want an experienced manager/ex-manager to organise the team, help out the manager, and woo players into signing (e.g. Terry Venables when he was at Boro)? Or do you want more of a scouting figure who deals with identifying talent, sorting contracts and other admin roles so the manager can get on with coaching (e.g. Frank Arnesen)?

Hunt may be the latter.

And is the mystery striker that Rondon?

I've genuinly no idea about the mystery striker, i'm sure in time those in-the-know will tell us just in time for the deal to collapse/never been going to happen anyway, but Rondon sounds the most likely based on the usual speculation we all read through on here.

I'd personally much rather have an experienced manager in place whilst Steve 'Karl Pilkington' Kean remains at the helm, saying yes to all the right people (called Anuradh Desai). For all his multitude of failings Kean has a reputation as a good first team coach so perhaps someone with tactical, signing, man-management and media nouse could take some of the pressure off him in terms of his managerial responsibilities. Such as... all of them.
