It will depend on what you want the DoF to do. Would you want an experienced manager/ex-manager to organise the team, help out the manager, and woo players into signing (e.g. Terry Venables when he was at Boro)? Or do you want more of a scouting figure who deals with identifying talent, sorting contracts and other admin roles so the manager can get on with coaching (e.g. Frank Arnesen)?

I would imagine that is what Simon Hunt will be doing. Plus making sure that the sports science and medical side of the club is spot on.

Pardon me for sounding a little agitated, but isn't every single striker we've enquired about, that we don't know of a... "mystery striker"? There's nothing imminent. Kammy should've kept quiet about that one.

He did keep quiet. He answered a question as best he could and adamantly stated that "Nothing is imminent".

So why say anything at all is my point? That way we wouldn't be pointlessly speculating on something for days.

there isnt any at the moment, unless you know somthing.

There is lots of movement at the moment...no idea who is involved in the movements but I know they are trying very hard for THE striker and are hopeful something will happen soon! Tried to find the names but Venkys have shushed everyone at the club re: transfers!

I concur with this and believe me, as others like Kammy will vouch if we could spill we would, but its a dangerous game at present to mention too much, without there being consequences,

Each day you read in the press, stories which are taking a swipe at our beloved club, and when you read these stories it explains to you so much why the press are being left out of the loop a little more than they have in the past.

No-one will ever get rid of all the leaks, and hopefully when things calm down a little I personally can be a little more open with those who have sent me personal messages, via here or other sites or twitter.

Blackburn are working hard on it, and are confident they have highlighted their man, I wish it was in the press cos I could talk about a little more, but until that name is leaked, I cannot.

I'm sorry for this and I know it frustrates people, so much so I even get personal insults in my direction for not saying.

Sometimes I think its best I say nothing cos sometimes the grief is not worth it, but 95% of people are decent folk and any news how ever little is always welcomed by them

Good to hear, and certainly good to hear that they have put a lid on things as it might jeopardise potential deals. Even if it's a little frustrating too for the curious fan :brfcsmilie::rover:

Respect for taking that approach. True fan.

I'm quite comfortable with what you have said, Glen9mullan. It's good to know things are happening.

As for the press, let them get on with it. The less they know the better. As Mark Hughes always used to say, we'll go quietly about our business. Hopefully they will be the ones with egg on their faces...

glen could you at least tell us if its a player we would get excited about?

IMO He is much better than we had last season or currently have and I would be very pleased,

Although I'm prob not the best to ask

Cos when David Speedie left as part of the Shearer deal I was one of those that spat the dummy out and could not believe we where parting with our hero for some numpty from Southampton who did not have a scoring record to write home about.

Pretty glad I was not doing the transfer negotiations on that deal lol

I'm sure there will be mixed reaction cos everyone has an opinion and its seldom the same as the next person, but it be a great coup for the club, I just wish they would get a move on, surely the player aint walking to Ewood?
