Neal,

Bolton has a better squad and Owen Coyle.

I disagree on your first point and I'm not sure what you are saying with the 2nd part.

Coyle is as unproven as Kean is IMO, his so called revolution at Bolton changed NOTHING, they still hoof it up to fat lad, the only difference last year was that they borrowed Sturridge, whilst BS managed to borrow MBD, who clearly isn't Sturridge is he?

Okay, they got to the Semi Final, but then they got humiliated, then they nose dived, a good manager wouldn't have let that happen.

Also, anyone who found God is bloody careless for losing him in the first place!

I'm not defending Kean, he's still a risk, but you do need to find a better example of a manager for me.

Please also bear this in mind, look at how many of the "Same old same old" or "Unproven" there are in the PL this year..

Just so you know I am prepared to take a few shots as well, For the record, I feel the following are a huge gamble or will struggle this year:

QPR, Good in the Championship doesn't mean "Okay" in the PL, lots of examples of this + their manager is garbage and will get found out

Norwich Ditto, but squad, inexperienced manager and realistic about chances

Bolton: Goals? Limited and ageing squad + relying on Dingles that have already FAILED

Everton: Good manager, but turgid atmosphere and no money

WBA: Good Manager but otherwise similar to us and many other clubs in respect of squad

Swansea: I think they will be this seasons Blackpool, i.e. Early Surprise package, MY stay up

Wigan: Will not dodge the bullet this year!

Wolves: I don't think they are going to be as safe as some are predicting, I also don't rate the manager, nice bloke, good motivator, cr*p at tactics.

Newcastle: If they don't get a good start, they could go down the plug quite quickly IMO. Squad weeker than last year, especially if Barton goes.

The unknowns:

Sunderland: So many new signings and risks, may pay off, may backfire

So, in summary, going to be another interesting season?

So I'm on not totally off topic and people can't drip, EDIT...

Any news on the striker and will this defender from Leicester (Who I rate BTW) from anyone please?

In relation to all the negativity, i will post this:

I picked up a Mirror pull out on saturday that was a "guide" to the new season. It had Bolton tipped to finish something like mid-table and us as relegation contenders. I fear some of the posters on here are starting to be worn down into believing some of the gutter press being printed about our great (yes, great) club. In what way on god's green earth are we worse off than Bolton? To use them as an example, they've lost Sturridge, Elmander, Mears (broken leg), Lee (Broken leg) leaving Kevin Davies and Klasnic up front... Awful. Name one of their players you'd swap for Hoilett, Samba, Olsson, Robinson, Nzonzi? Perhaps Cahill? Holden ain't bad but... Like for like there are very few players who finished in that whole bottom 10 who i'd swap!

My point is there is a reason for optimism, many reasons in fact... The development of Formica, Rochina and Lowe, potential of Goodwillie and Petrovic (both Internationals) and the loan of Andrews...

In my opinion, one major contributing factor in struggling last season was our loss of balance due to injury e.g. Givet gets injured therefore Olsson reverts to LB leaving Junior to carry the attacking threat on his own. Then, once Givet returned Hoilett gets injured leaving Olsson to carry the attacking threat. The last time i can remember having the luxury of balance we beat Liverpool 3-1. So, some people don't like the manager, but most of us would have to admit that the player togetherness appears better than ever before and it showed at Wolves.

A good pre-season, new style of play, some new faces in, deadwood being shifted... All that's left is to get our number 9, replace Jonesy (impossible task) and get Junior signed up then... We're golden. Cheer up and let's get ready to defy the odds once again!

Mid-table here we come. :D

Good post Neil.

Keep em singing down your end fella!

Is this thread still for transfers? Think there's another thread for season predictions.

Any news of a player being signed before saturday?

Ha good one,any chance of a decent striker and central defender being signed by september 1st, i'm sick of the club being linked to players like Podolski who more than likely wouldn't even consider a move to Rovers or the EPL,don't believe we were ever close to signing vieirinha not with a laughable bid of 4 million,in my opinion it's all bull and venky's pr probably leaked false info to various people to basically get the fans of their backs.if we signed no one else would people be happy?

Must be what everyone thinks of us, few people predicting anything other then relegation.

"BLACKBURN: You say 18th and I have to agree, they are a poor team with inexperienced ownership and management trying to do everything on the cheap. I say relegation zone."

It does feel like we are trying to do everything on the cheap spent weeks and weeks on deals trying to save pennies.

I wouldn't swap any of their players for ours, but I would take Cahill, Holden and Klasnic in a heartbeat. Cahill to replace Jones, Holden to be another body in the midfield and Klasnic because he scores goals unlike Jason Roberts. Otherwise I think they are pretty ordinary. I think that you have to look to Owen Coyle to see the reason why they did well last season. Actually I would swap Coyle for Kean!

I know it wouldn't have been a popular move in East Lancashire; but, when my mates and I were discussing round the table in The Manxman who we should get as the new manager once we'd disposed of Ince, I voted for Coyle - I think he's a good manager, in the David Moyes mould who had already served his apprenticeship as a manager with St. Johnstone and the Dingles.

I think if you were to look at Owen Coyle's record away from home since coming down to England it would make very interesting reading. Even in the promotion season with Burnley they only won 3 or 4. I think Bolton won about 2 last season. It's Coyle's Achilles heel.

Neal, think you meant 'succesfull' not 'shameful'.

Perhaps BUT still a shameful period considering that brand of football would not have been accepted under Uncle Jack and deep down, we all know that. This club has been built on playing the right way and our managers in years gone past have been far more respectful of the team and the club than... "The Big I am, Sam". For those who made the point of Coyle being they're manager, fair enough, i'll concede that. I have a sneaky feeling though, Keano will prove us wrong. And for someone who mentioned Klasnic, ask any Bolton fan and they'll tell you he's garbage... Would sooner take the chance on Goodie.

Anyway... Transfer news! Would like Yobo, plenty of experience in the PL that could be vital for us this season.

I heard rumours a short while back (last week) about Yobo, posted on here but did not give it much credance and no one responded, did well in Turkey last season not sure how much value he is at around 3m but always liked him as a player and he has a nack of popping up with vital goals.

Would be nice to have a few players with EPL experience, on the downside though we would be funding Everton lol

90% negative posts on this board, Love the Rovers, dislike most of the fans.

and this is exactly what I mean when I talk about Rovers 'supporters' undermining the club.

OK Venkys could handle things better, but lads have a look at yourselves - this negativity is a very poor reflection on Rovers. Your attitude is doing us few favours and winning even fewer friends.

Growing the brand world wide? If newbies are going to log into BRFCS.com to get a feel for the club then you'll be doing your very best to depress them and drive them away...

Like it or not this supporters site is VERY representative of the Rovers supporters culture (even though we're not an offical site) -- and outsiders looking in would say we're just a bunch of grumblebums and why would you want to support that side?

At times it's testing enough supporting Rovers and when you compound this with a miserablist bunch of whinging fans....

Totally agree, I've never known such a bunch of moaning miserable people. The guy I used to sit next to in the Blackburn end was terrible, I remember after a great 2 - 2 draw with utd he walked off moaning about "bloody amateurs" !

Oh and despite my tongue in cheek comment about Yobo I should mention that in my opinion he is a good player and I'd welcome him at the club anytime (if only to keep this comment vaguely transfer related so as not to get deleted :P ).

stokholm, you have only been on here 2 mins, if you dont like listening to people's views then go somewhere else. As for malk, no offence but your talking out of your bottom...

...Last season should have been a warning to the owners but they dont seem to have got the message, i am furious with whats gone on and at this moment cant see any light at the end of the tunnel.

Regarding the above post - I just PM’d Stockholmonster with this message.

“I feel I should apologise - there's too many pricks on here & Roverandout is one of the biggest ones.

Were not all jerks and I for one welcome you to the Rovers family.”

I’m getting f**ked off at people damaging my club – I know we’ve had the Venkys argument, but there is no way anybody should be turning on a contributor like this.

Roverandout I hope that the light you’re looking for at the end of the tunnel doesn’t turn out to be a train.

Heh. It's awfully quiet today, isn't it? I was really expecting things to heat up a bit before the start of the season. I feel like a newly hatched blue n white bird squawking with my brothers and sisters in the nest waiting for Kamy, Glenn etc to drop some juicy worms into our beaks.

Hmmmmmm. Yobo, eh? Does anyone think it's a goer? He's tough as nails, thats for sure. I'm a teensy bit disappointed with Sol Bamba being a non-runner. The anecdotes from the lads in his thread made me think he might be worthwhile.
