Source? I mean I've heard it said before but where does this figure come from? If he as good as people say then surely they would ask for more than £7m.

First saw that figure mentioned when he was listed as one of the 'young striker targets' by Nicko when we were reported to have the £50m budget.

One of the 'ITK's' here on the forum. Nicko wrote an article earlier in the summer with £10m the sum:

When we used to have money

£7m is low, yes, and might not be accurate. But if he hasn't signed a new contract since originally signing for Malaga then the mandatory release clause in his contract might not be much more than £7-10m.

thanks Glen.

Would be good signing for us but if they think he is over price at 18 million then we should move onto the next target.

Still wonder whether we will go back in with a bid 14 million???

They may move back in for him, but he is no longer the number 1 target, but I hope that gives an insight to the calibe of player we are chasing,

And in response to the Torgier, No he is not the player with the bid currently on the table

Are you hopeful that these are real interests and not token shows of interest?

Are you still hopeful we will land a decent forward before September?

I would bet anything I have, which unfortunately is not much that we will land a striker to be excited about,

They seem confident they can get their man, They know they need to get their man, so I can safely say a new number 9 WILL arrive at Ewood

What are the chances it will be this Glen Mullan? is he not a number 9? ;)

Lol, sadly i'm coming to the end of my playing days, last season this year one suspects, Although, I have better goal to game Ratio than Roberts at Ewood :D

Its been a good positive day today, great news on the sponsor front, No riots in our street, and Kean has come out and spoke cash amounts on players which we have moved for so far this window,

£12 Million aint half bad, even though we did pull out when they wanted more, I think this shows a desire to bring good quality and if the player is right and good value the fee will be paid.

But the acid test is, will Roverandout still be able to moan about it?

Cheers for the update, I'm hoping Saturday doesnt show up a glaring need for a atriker but it may do.

Well it's Friday.. no news in the papers so guess thats our starting lineup for day one sorted..

Kean is really winding me up with his comments, A young Batistuta, the "young Wayne Rooney" and a "young Chris Smalling", Champions League football, "largest budget for a long while", "will have a striker, def and midfielder within 3 weeks".. what a twit. Sounds like he has even got the players at it with Ribiero the new Dennis Irwin.

Key thing from that interview was "“The actual pounds available I don’t know. The banks are involved in that. I think there is a restructure on what we are trying to do with the debt of the football club." does this not validate what PhillipL, Nicko and co have been slated for saying????

I really doubt the banks are going to be over the moon that we have given millions away to charity in free sponsorship (apparently turning down sponsorship offers) while still owing them money. Hell we don't even have official shirts available for the first 4 weeks of the season... just blank shirts that can be retrofit later lol

His quote about having the final say on transfer prices worries me slightly as well.. sure the two we got look great value but how many did we miss out on because he (interestingly not Kentaro/SEM) had called them off because he felt it was to much.

On a positive there must be some cash available if we can afford to put in 12m pound bids but it sounds like they are leaving all of the actual leg work to Venkys which really does not inspire me with confidence. Why put bids in if your not going to chase them up or hurry people for decisions?

I agree with most of what you have said but i refuse to believe that we put a 12 million pound bid in for anyone,Kean simply doesn't have the right profile to attract players to the club and our owners seem to penny pinch anyway.Kean comes across in that interview as an idiot just like his lookalike Karl Pilkington, also how much did we spend the summer we signed Niko Kalinic bet it was more than we end up spending in this window,Kean is way out of his depth and should be demoted in my opinion and Mark Hughes brought back but i know it's not going to happen because venky's will only work with yes men who question nothing.

I don't believe a word that comes out of Kean's mouth especially about transfers,i think he is being told what to say,do you honestly believe they were willing to part with 12 million pounds? if you know the name of the player just tell us,sick of all the secrecy which normally turns out to be nothing but hot air.Benjani for number 9 wouldn't surprise me

Yes, Adam Henley is a 17 year old (JUST GONE 17) and he played for the ressies against Man U and Chelsea, played Oberton out of the game v Man U on his wrong side (right full back) when his real position is left full back, he was 16 years old when he played

against Oberton, thats some performance, I feel this lad will come good, ability, mentality and attitude.

I'll cross my fingers that young mr. henley will display more loyalty to Rovers than his recently departed colleague.

If there is any chance, any whatsoever, that we could get Soldado it would be a massive coup. Just huge. Forget your Ronaldinho's and your Beckhams etc... This guy would be worth the outlay. A proper number 9. I'd safely say he'd recoup £3m in higher league positions alone. Having someone who finishes for fun can make that big an impact.

Ahhhh why am i even letting myself think about a signing of this quality! Mug!

for 18mill, I'd go and ask Spurs for Crouch and Defoe, or Defoe And Pavlyuchenko, heck even Defoe, Bassong and Kean. Soldado might be good, but ill still try and go for one of the Spurs strikers.
