Eddie Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 So, according to that list, only one player who has made a worthwhile contribution so far... 1/3 of his signings that have been given a chance in competitive games did extremely well. If he keeps that ratio up then we'll be fine, especially when you consider that one of the other two is a young player who only had a handful of minutes on the pitch, but did manage to look good.

joey_big_nose Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Kean's signing's to date have been relatively good. RSC - gamble didn't pay off, J.Jones - revelation, Formica - Will be an important player this season, Rochina - looks the part/ jury still out, Petrovic/Goodwillie/Andersen - time will tell. Nothing compared to Hughes but as good as Allardyce in my opinion. Jermaine Jones was an excellemt signing, and
pick32 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 So, according to that list, only one player who has made a worthwhile contribution so far... Considering 3 haven't yet played and Formica's performance's in pre season plus the fact Rochina has looked good in his cameo's and very impressive for the reserves, I think Kean has got the ability to spot a good player. He might be new to the manager role but he was also a first team coach and assistant manger for Chris Coleman in Spain and England so he isn't that inexperienced when it comes to spotting talent.
A Tugay Substitution Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 In what mould is this vukcevic. Rampaging forward thinking or defensively minded. I know we have a couple of very promising creative midfielders but a Kevin nolanesque player would be welcome in my eyes. Big strong and can burst into.the box with power. He's a very talented footballer, mainly left footed but decent right foot, great finisher and scores important goals. Likes to play off the striker but can also do a job on either wing in a 4 3 3 He is also incredibly lazy and moody and there have been a series of Sporting managers who couldn't get him to do his job. One of those players that turns up and plays fantastic in one match and then just wanders around for the next 5 games 2 years ago I would have said sign him up as Sporting had a disciplinarian (Bento) and you could imagine why there would be issues between them, however other managers have since tried and failed and its been the same old story. Stay well clear I would suggest, we have excellent team spirit at the moment and we don't want to ruin that.
Pitty Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Anybody know if Rovers get a future sell on fee for Gavin Gunning transfer? Transfer to Dundee utd been confirmed
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Are there ANY traditional Brazilian RB's any more? Rafael, Alvez, Maicon, this guy all play at Wing-Back! Best combination will probably be him and Emerton, given Brett's ability to track back to defend. Playing two advanced players (Ribero and Hoilett, for example) will result in a gaping hole at the back, probably bringing Samba out of position to cover and stretching the other two. Now, unless this Petrovic or N'Zonzi are going to be asked to cover, surely this could be a problem for us?
beastlove Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 is it me or does he look very light weight, even all the strips look like they hang of him lol, he seams to be a very attack minded right-back and has a good shot on him, I just don't get at the age of 28 if he is that good why hasn't any other club not picked him up Sam e could have been said about ryan nelson. He was about 28 when we signed him. He even got turned down by charlton
michaelthomas Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Anybody know if Rovers get a future sell on fee for Gavin Gunning transfer? Transfer to Dundee utd been confirmed Sure nicko said that was what as actually holding the deal up; we were asking for a (ludicrous) 50% sell on clause.
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Wigan have had a bid of £1.5m turned down for Odemwingie by West Brom. £1.5m for a striker that scored 15 last season? Wow.
imy9 Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Sure nicko said that was what as actually holding the deal up; we were asking for a (ludicrous) 50% sell on clause. Why ludicrous? We agreed to it with Bentley.

rogerjonesgloves Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Why ludicrous? We agreed to it with Bentley. Because it's Venkys, but you knew that.
Ripleys love child Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 We are a big joke out there. I think we should try Ramm instead of hiring a nobody from Brazil who is 28 years old and proberly is useless according to the reports from people on this site. How van you make a comment like that when you havent even seen him play a competitive match?
Amo Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Sam e could have been said about ryan nelson. He was about 28 when we signed him. He even got turned down by charlton Sam? And it's Nelsen. Seven years at the club and fans still can't spell his name.
philipl Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 So, according to that list, only one player who has made a worthwhile contribution so far... ...and he's not at Ewood this season. I think the term "Kean's signings" is a large approximation in terms of who decided to take them for all except Ribena, Goodwillie and Petrovic. Remember Kean saying how out of his depth he was on transfers at the end of the January window? By the way is -30 a record? I did say that the bids now were presumably serious but clearly most people disagree.

I will speak for myself but you got a -1 because of the statement: "Our only hope is that we are after players no other PL club is after because all other things being equal, all 19 other PL clubs look a better bet than playing for Kean and the Raos." Petrovic was wanted by Roma and other European teams. Goodwillie was wanted by Rangers and chose Rovers. Players will move where the money is. 29 other people probably took exception to it IMO (you may want to sneak that into your posts a little more lol)
hawkiiz Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Anyone know what announcement is coming tomorrow?
JAL Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 The eve of a new season and still uncertainty surrounds Samba and Hoilet.
Stuart Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Anyone know what announcement is coming tomorrow? Rovers' starting line up against Wolves. I have a particularly reliable source on this.

Fylde Coast Fan Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I don't think Samba will go. I hope Hoilett signs a new contract but if the worst comes to worst and he goes in the summer we take it to tribunal because of his age. Feeling good about this season, I think we'll prove some of our doubters wrong and play much better.
hawkiiz Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Rovers' starting line up against Wolves. I have a particularly reliable source on this. Are you sure? No, @3enjy said on Twittah that there is a big announcement, non playing, non staff coming tomorrow. Any ideas?
Nelsta Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Anyone know what announcement is coming tomorrow? Sorry i've missed where this was said(been out all day) Is this from an ITK'er?

Non-playing, non-staff? The mascot, shirts and sponsor are already announced so I'm struggling. Just a guess but, naming rights to Ewood?
