donnermeat Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 i know, some people have no shame, then again i get minuses for every post i make unless its a positive one. I think people might just see it's you and automatically mark it down. Crazy.
Stevo Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 i dont think nicko has an agenda against rovers at all. he has a soft spot for the club, otherwise, for example, why would he take an hour of his time to be on radio lancs the other night? Its just that some people, when they hear things they dont want to, want to have a pop at him. I have more respect for his opinion than some on here. I don't see how you can possibly say that there is no agenda at all, when he clearly manipulated the quotes that Kean gave to fit in with his wholly negative article. See the Guardian's article for what a balanced piece of journalism looks like - i.e. an article without an agenda. There is a big difference between the two. Maybe it isn't his fault, he is in a business where he has to create stories that will provoke and emotional reaction and result in £££ for The Mirror. But he has made the active decision to consistently present Rovers in a negative light, ever since he started getting stories wrong and began to appear to be out of the loop.
roverandout Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 i know donner, people expect me to fall in line with the 'all is well' brigade stevo some people on here have a pop at him because he doesnt always shed rovers in a good light, sometimes its not possible for him to do that, so what do they expect him to do make out the world is made up of marshmellows and chocolate coins?

Not picking and choosing misleading quotes to portray what Kean said in an overly negative light might just be a good start.
roverandout Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 wasnt kean, nicko's favourite not so long ago? he was bigging kean up wasnt he last season? why would he have an agenda againt him?
steo Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Take it theres no news on the transfer front today?
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I will say is he reminds me of a young Pele, he's 27. Irwin, Smalling, Batistuta and now Pele? We're going to be the best team in the world.
steo Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 nope, never is unless its bullsh*t Agree 100%,so much for it's the best budget we have had in years and the owners have been supportive if thats the case why have we not got a decent striker it's beyond a joke and before posters mention Goodwillie he may have potential but thats it.
Hi Mack Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Irwin, Smalling, Batistuta and now Pele? We're going to be the best team in the world. Going to be?..........you do know we've bought Myles Anderson dont you?
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Going to be?..........you do know we've bought Myles Anderson dont you? Aye. He's the "new Chris Smalling" mentioned. I'm sure nothing'll get past him...
roverandout Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 he didnt really say anderson is the new chris smalling did he?
Hi Mack Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 he didnt really say anderson is the new chris smalling did he? Yes, And we are getting in to the Champions league in the next couple seasons!
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 he didnt really say anderson is the new chris smalling did he? http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/81257.html "He could become something of a Chris Smalling..."
rovgers Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 he didnt really say anderson is the new chris smalling did he? No he didn't, he said he "could" be like Smalling and that was in relation to him not coming through the ranks of a league side(That's my impression anyway!).
Sasman Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 According to Vital, we have joined the chase for Hitzelsperger on a free, I'm guessing he would command similar wages as Gibson, so one or the other. Read he really wants the Villa option, if it's there that is. Nobody on Vital has said we are in for Hitzelsperger! Just saying.... Cheers
Torgeir Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/81257.html "He could become something of a Chris Smalling..." Ha ha ha what a fantastic manager we have. Im seriously warming to Kean and his fantastic comments on players
XLM Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Everyone is entitled to an opinion and I respect your right to voice yours. Unfortunately, again IMO, almost every decision Venky's have made has been sh1t and it's time that they started to listen to people who know what they are on about where football is concerned eg John Williams, Tom Finn. You can't judge owners over as short term as you would judge a player, or even a manger. They haven't even been here a year. And why are Williams and Finn such bastions of all that is good and true? Lets not forget they hired Ince, they oversaw £31,000,000 net transfer profit still leaving the club £38,000,000 in debt. They also deemed Venkys to be credible enough to take over the club. That shouldn't make you think that they did a poor job, it should show you how difficult a job it is looking after a small town club in a league full of billionaires.

Venkys will be judged on their long term performance...... They have have however failed their short term test........in some style!
XLM Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Venkys will be judged on their long term performance...... They have have however failed their short term test........in some style! How? By clearing our debts, sacking a bonnafide cock of a manager (who was the only thing standing between us and relegation...) and actually spending money in the transfer market, not as much as we were told by our beloved Nicko granted. [EDIT] Plus, just read the Kean Smalling quote... If you can't tell that he's comparing them in terms of them being noticed at an older age than is usual there is something seriously wrong with you.

Thank God for the Saviour Steve Kean then.....where would we be without him? "Plus, just read the Kean Smalling quote... If you can't tell that he's comparing them in terms of them being noticed at an older age than is usual there is something seriously wrong with you." Nothing wrong with me, Did he liken Formica to Batistuta...ye! Goodwillie to Rooney?...ye? Wake up and smell the coffee, Kean is clueless. Where has this Kean love-in come from? The mans a puppet and has no idea what hes doing. In an interview last season after a defeat he stated we had more corners than the opposition......BRILLIANT!
blue/white Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I would not pay much attention to the Mirror article to be honest. I'm not sure what Nixon's motives are but they appear to be trying to derail Venkys and destroy any remaining morsel of credibility that the club has with Kean et al at the helm. The quote has been adapted as it is printed elsewhere with no mention of Danny Welbeck. That is not just lazy journalism but completely reckless. More woman scorned than reckless. Success is the sole earthly judge of right and wrong. Adolf Hitler a few month from now will be a good time to judge. So, it's come to this???? Quoting the Austrian corporal ????
