neophox Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 can't see Wellbeck coming, maybe Macheda and Gibson on loan. Maybe a return of Mame Biram Diouf? Has played well preseason.

neophox Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Other United players in rovers reach, Tom Cleverly, highly rated Paul Pogba and Davide Petrucci?
Balwer Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 No way known Cleverly will go out on loan this season.
chaddyrovers Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 From Kamy on twitter Northern_Rover Northern Rover Been told Rovers looking to sign striker (£5-£6 million range), defender. Plus a couple of loans, Gibson one of them. Next week busy. Northern_Rover Northern Rover Rovers confident one of the bids they have made will be accepted

Now way diouf is poor, he may look good with great players around him but not when he's playing with Roberts it's like cleverly last season did nothing for Wigan at all but looked good last week, but people are definitely over hyping another Englishman .
Hekla Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I guess you didn't see many Wigan matches, Cleverley played very well there last season.
adsfortheblues Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I guess you didn't see many Wigan matches, Cleverley played very well there last season. I saw most games and he didn't stand out in a poor Wigan team, James McCarthy was there outstanding individual not cleverly, what did he really do to note

Northern_Rover Northern Rover Rovers confident one of the bids they have made will be accepted didn't we just sell a 6 million pound striker, so that's going back on a new striker, bought 5 millions pounds worth of players so far and maybe 2-3 million on a defender, so in total that will be around 7 million spent not really the big bucks and huge budget venkys promised really is it, really its just around the 5 million venkys promised for each transfer window, so really once again we sold are best a future asset in jones and seen none of it ploughed back into the club, business as usual then
bringdunnback Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 In the midst of the game today and the N'Zonzi at centre back debacle, apparantly Benjani is a Portsmouth player.
Eddie Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Benjani has signed for Portsmouth...so we have just dodged a bullet.
Billy Castell Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 It's all very well the oaf we have as a manager talking of 'active' transfers, the time to actually pull our thumb out of our bottom and get them is now. We need strengthening as well as a competent manager. Hopefully now the boardroom set up seems sorted lets stop ____ing around and get some good players.
Hekla Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Sign some players and fast! at least two or three needed before the next match, stop messing about Venky's, show the money for a change.
adsfortheblues Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I'm sure kean will have something positive to say
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Strikers? Not sure we NEED any more on todays performance. Formica and Goodwillie have shown they know where the goal is. With a bit of spine (like a defender to replace Jones and a back-up with bucketloads of experience) and a creative midfielder, we'll be sorted in my opinion. Would like Gibson. Would ADORE Cleverley, but that'll NEVER happen. This season will be his season for United.
John Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Hope we don't panic buy now, the need for new players is pretty great.

Formica had some nice touches and scored but pumping balls in the air to him is useless. He cannot jump, his feet never leave the ground. Should have scored from a corner but got underneath it. We need 1 striker who can guarantee us at least 15 goals a season and we don't have one.So yes we do need a striker and quick.
Hekla Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I know it's controversial but somebody like Joey Barton would be perfect right now, passionate whole hearted midfielder that we need.
farhanology Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 I know it's controversial but somebody like Joey Barton would be perfect right now, passionate whole hearted midfielder that we need. I'd rather we re-signed Mokoena if we need a whole-hearted midfielder. On ESPN: 18.16 Blackburn manager Steve Kean has said he needs new players after losing to Wolves: "We're in a position where 11 players have left and only three have come in. We have to bring players in in order to have a competitive squad." Sounds like a plea to the owners to open their chequebook more widely.

Indeed, I don't think we can fault Keen or the players for lack of effort today , we were hamstrung with injuries at the back and the lack of an out and out striker upfront, there was no depth or options on the bench that could have changed the game or our style. Roberts did well for the goal and puts a lot of effort in but he's not the ideal target man and needs to play alongside someone. Goodwillie looked decent but we can't expect miracles from him, he will take time to settle and he also doesn't look like an out and out striker but someone who will move into chanels off a main man. I just hope we have the main man lined up.
super_badge Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Nelson Valdez off to Russia I think so that is another linked striker to cross off. Could be a long season at this rate...

I mus admit that is the first time I have seen desperation in his voice and seen him face reality. The squad is too thin and yes his comments may well be a plea to the owners. But he has been over to India a number of times,. What was he doing over there, drinking tea. He must have raised this with them as it has been obvious for awhile. Rovers need players in, the squad is too small, as it was last season. I hope its a new manager! So do I
4000Holes Posted August 13, 2011 Posted August 13, 2011 Kelbo New manager? and who would come and who would appoint him? New owners have got rid of existing management and not replaced them until this week, got rid of a half decent manager and replaced him with talk the talk. They took over saying they had cleared the dept, apparently not true after presumably promising the Walker trust they would but they just wanted to walk away and are not really interested! Are they fit and proper people to run a football club? Probably not, so what price the premiere league set up that have investigated them. Can only conclude that the owners have seen an oppertunity to asset strip and no one, no one, cares except us the supporters and as we are not enough to sell newspapers are not being listened to or taken seriously by the press, Nicko, Cryer etc.. SK, over summer, we have money to spend! 50 mil, I think not! The Jones money, I think not! Conclusion, this year will end in tears but I guess the owners will still be there next season, asset stripping the parachute payments. Today is a very, very sad day. On the bright side, if there is anyone out there who wants to start a business, then the advice would be, do it in India because if this lot have been successful there then it must be easy!
