Northern_Rover Northern Rover

Been told Rovers looking to sign striker (£5-£6 million range), defender. Plus a couple of loans, Gibson one of them. Next week busy.

Rovers confident one of the bids they have made will be accepted

Strikers? Not sure we NEED any more on todays performance. Formica and Goodwillie have shown they know where the goal is. With a bit of spine (like a defender to replace Jones and a back-up with bucketloads of experience) and a creative midfielder, we'll be sorted in my opinion.

Would like Gibson. Would ADORE Cleverley, but that'll NEVER happen. This season will be his season for United.

On that logic, so has Jason Roberts.

I think the point was that Formica scored a goal today and Goodwillie showed a sense of being able to finish. You can be the biggest Jason Roberts fan in the world, but even his mother would have to admit that he is in no way a 'natural finisher'.

I'd rather we re-signed Mokoena if we need a whole-hearted midfielder.

On ESPN: 18.16 Blackburn manager Steve Kean has said he needs new players after losing to Wolves: "We're in a position where 11 players have left and only three have come in. We have to bring players in in order to have a competitive squad."

Sounds like a plea to the owners to open their chequebook more widely.

Like I said, it was going to take an actual example to SHOW Venky's that we don't currently have the squad good enough to do anything but battle relegation.

Maybe Kean is actually growing a pair...

Goodwillie made a promising cameo debut. Formica had some nice touches and scored but pumping balls in the air to him is useless. He cannot jump, his feet never leave the ground. Should have scored from a corner but got underneath it.

We need 1 striker who can guarantee us at least 15 goals a season and we don't have one.So yes we do need a striker and quick.

In my opinion, one of those two IS a 15-goal striker. The problem is the amount of time it'll take for him to get there.

Formica isn't even a striker, really. He's a right-winger. But he WILL get at least 10 this season, I will bet on.

I have confidence we have goals ready and waiting in the attack options we have. Of course, anyone that's guaranteed to add to that tally, then I'm all for signing. I'd much rather we sign two CB's first.

I think the point was that Formica scored a goal today and Goodwillie showed a sense of being able to finish. You can be the biggest Jason Roberts fan in the world, but even his mother would have to admit that he is in no way a 'natural finisher'.

Cheers Ed.

was right about sponsor and also naming of stand one to watch out for...

He's got a very good source, as you say. Been right on both. He said the stand thing last night, and that's where the rumours started. Just hope it's something major, fantastic and BLOODY REAL.

That doesn't come into it. Why quote "natural finisher" when that didn't come into anything I'd said?

Just because Formica scored today it doesn't mean we can rely on him for goals. And Goodwillie didn't even score!

I'm guessng this is a twatter thing, saying Ben Wiseman has an 11 O'Clocker. Hopefully it will be good news like a good striker and defender will sign on Monday.

New manager? and who would come and who would appoint him? New owners have got rid of existing management and not replaced them until this week, got rid of a half decent manager and replaced him with talk the talk.

They took over saying they had cleared the dept, apparently not true after presumably promising the Walker trust they would but they just wanted to walk away and are not really interested! Are they fit and proper people to run a football club? Probably not, so what price the premiere league set up that have investigated them.

Can only conclude that the owners have seen an oppertunity to asset strip and no one, no one, cares except us the supporters and as we are not enough to sell newspapers are not being listened to or taken seriously by the press, Nicko, Cryer etc..

SK, over summer, we have money to spend! 50 mil, I think not! The Jones money, I think not!

Conclusion, this year will end in tears but I guess the owners will still be there next season, asset stripping the parachute payments.

Today is a very, very sad day.

On the bright side, if there is anyone out there who wants to start a business, then the advice would be, do it in India because if this lot have been successful there then it must be easy!

My take on that is they were being badly advised. Now that advise has gone - if that is true - thye may consider appointing somebody else as they may consider Kean is part of the old advice people.

Venkys have been mislead and also lied themelves. They are in my view still able to recover the situation if they start listening to people who are knowledgable on running a football club / players etc. A decent management team may well be able to help them. Kean is too close to Kentario.

I wouldn't be worried about Samba leaving if the money was guaranteed to be re-invested. As shown by the P.Jones sale, that is no certainty. We are already short of 1 if not 2 centre backs, 1 striker and another body in midfield. We cannot afford to lose another key player.

When will we start spending money??? Not loose change, but serious amounts which will bring us the standard of player capable of keeping us in the division??

I dont feel anger as much as disappointment. It all sounded too good to be true.

What will the chances be that we wouldn't see the Samba money?

IF it's true, the arrows point to us not seeing it at all.

But, as far as I'm concerned, it's stealing now, because the £20m bank debt of Blackburn Rovers has been accounted for by the Jones and Kalinic sale.

Stripping assets, just like people said they would. Again. If true.

The blatant abuse of the swearing filter?

So the manager can be called a dick, people can write b0llox or variants of which, and other posters can write words such as ###### and you say nowt, yet I say one rude word and you jump on me like a horny Fritzl on his daughter. Yes, I was pushing it, and now I'll probably be banned/warned, but if others can get away with it why can't I? I know I will be banned now as I am not one of the mods' golden boys who have dragged this site into the gutter.

Anyway, if he is sold, I would advocate anything short of lobbing petrol bombs, violence etc. in getting Kean, and probably Venkys out.
