Samba is absolutely crucial now too, more than ever.

With Kean's shocking lack of defensive tactical awareness and tendency to sign players who might have a bit of skill but not much tackle, keeping Samba is vital. He's the sort of player who you'll imagine will rally the troops, help instil a fighting spirit in his teammates. If he leaves that will get ripped out of our set up.

Must stay at all costs. And £12 million? If true this would be unbelievable.

Then again you've got the problem of Spurs even if we do dodge that bullet, and no doubt 'Arry will somehow worm Samba into their team. Knowing Spurs, what we'll get is a bum deal of mediocre players or a meagre amount of cash from their self-righteous set up. <_<

However, if we keep Samba and manage to get a proven striker and more cover in defence then I'm optimistic about the coming season, it all really rests on this transfer and how much investment (if at all) there is in the team.

The only bonus if he did go to Spurs, we'd get some extra players in no matter how 'mediocre'

The same guy just tweeted:

Think Mr Samba may never pull on the blue and white halves again hope I'm wrong

We'll see, there's been that much crap posted on twitter, I believe anything that comes from there about as much as what comes out of kean and venkys mouths.

If we do actually sign some players, they have got to be proven premiership players, we can't afford time for them "bedding" in, the squad is too thin to be taking gambles on foreigners who may not cut it

Without a doubt his head has been turned. Problem is that players hold all the power nowadays. If they want to go, they go. If they feel they should be paid more they get a nice new contract. Its not just Rovers either, look how rooney squeezed every penny out of Ferguson and Utd last year.

I think its been clear for some time that Samba is going. The question is what happens to the money and whether we get a decent replacement.

it does seem strange that he has been 'injured' the last few weeks all of a sudden, maybe his head has been turned and hes not mentally right.

Samba ISN'T injured.......

And I dont think its a coincidence that hes been away from twitter for a few weeks! <_<

But when we do sell, I am sure we will get the cash but.....You can only sign players who want to come.

Players on the level of Samba dont want to come to Rovers thus making us weaker no matter what.

Theres alot of people who were very positive last week (rightly so) but after todays debacle

I think the facts have hit home!

Not to shoot down the 'reliable' twitter source or anything but why would he have left that news until 11pm if true?

Only reason for that is if you are a journalist and dont want anybody else getting your exclusive.

If this was the case he would have his proper name as his Twitter account.. Journalists love all the credit.

Not some anonymous tip off at 11pm.

Other news could have been sourced from any number of outlets.. look how much RoversInsider got right.. he also got a LOT wrong.

No substance in my eyes.. Samba pulled a groin he will be back.

Selling him now would be suicide.. and after todays performance I'd back us to be relegated. 17th at absolute best.

I wasnt replying to him or anyone else.....I was stating a fact!

Sure it'll be in the paper tomorrow! What the hell is going on at our club?

God knows, I keep telling myself that venkys only have good intentions, but their actions are increasingly making that hard to believe, are they trying to paper over the cracks and deflect attention with the shirt sponsorship and Blackburn end/ronnie clayton thing? These are very good gestures, but the fact is they haven't cost them anything, and they keep on taking money out of the club instead of the continual promises of investment, getting a bit fed up with all the crap they come out with, actions speak louder than words

he6rt, r u taking the p*ss? we dont need any strikers after obviouslty being woeful up front? did u watch the game today? what possible explanation could u have of us not needing any striker? unless your taking the mickey for real which i hope your are

I watched the majority of it, yes, and attack was NOT the problem. We missed Samba's height on corners, defensive stability, leadership and creativity in the middle.

Formica, even being played out of position, and Roberts did a really good job up top, as did Goodwillie when he came on.

I'd be happy with the strikers we have now if September 1st came. I have faith in them all. The one stumbling block is the possibility of Goodwillie appearing back in court for this rape charge. If that goes tits up, then we will definitely NEED another striker.

sorry he6rt, i dont agree, theres no firepower there, how can you be happy when we dont have any proven goalscorers? would you be confident that roberts and goodwillie can get into double figures? because i wouldnt

Together? Absolutely. However, I feel Formica has more chance of doing that himself, if I'm perfectly honest. Rochina's gonna chip in with a few too.

It's all about where you want to finish. If we want top 10, sure, go spend £12m on a striker. But right now, there's a big gaping hole at the back and in the middle that need filling. We went back to hoofball again today. One of the things the owners and some sections of the fans were glad to think they'd seen the back of. Creativity in the middle will open up a whole new world to the football we see from Blackburn, and offer WAY more opportunity to Formica and Goodwillie to get into double figures each.

I'm of the opinion that the game has changed so much that it's the midfielders expected to step up and score many goals. Strikers can pull defenders away and make runs to confuse the opponent, but with, say a guy like Parker or Hitzlsperger in the middle? We'd bang goals in. :)

Probably because, he knows that 11pm is the time that us Rovers fans most anticipate for transfer news, therefore creating more interest in his Twitter account.

Hopefully he'll still be a Rovers player, and committed, come next game, but not looking good is it?

I'd rather we re-signed Mokoena if we need a whole-hearted midfielder.

On ESPN: 18.16 Blackburn manager Steve Kean has said he needs new players after losing to Wolves: "We're in a position where 11 players have left and only three have come in. We have to bring players in in order to have a competitive squad."

Sounds like a plea to the owners to open their chequebook more widely.

Sounds like he has only just noticed lol

We cannot rely on wingers to get us goals we need a PROVEN goalscorer.....it wont come cheap....but its alot cheaper than the cost of relegation!

Had to laugh at the Telewag article about 'bids' for our players. Basically said if anyone enquired about Samba they would be told 'No'.....then in the last paragraph says that;

"It’s very important to keep Chris Samba. We have sold Phil (Jones) and if there is another bid in for any of our players then we will have to take that on its merits, but we certainly don’t want to lose him.”

Very similar to the contradictory blurb that appeared 48 hrs before Jones was sold.

Sadly, if Samba goes, I can see Hoilett following before the end of the month

Article

If he is sold for the rumoured £12 million. Then the best thing to do with the money is pay off Kean and get a decent manager in. I'd rather have Souness with £6mil to spend than Kean with £12+.
