Mattyblue Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 It's all about where you want to finish. If we want top 10, sure, go spend £12m on a striker. But right now, there's a big gaping hole at the back and in the middle that need filling. We went back to hoofball again today. One of the things the owners and some sections of the fans were glad to think they'd seen the back of. Creativity in the middle will open up a whole new world to the football we see from Blackburn, and offer WAY more opportunity to Formica and Goodwillie to get into double figures each. We've played hoofball with Kean from day one, a few passages of largely ineffcectual passing and an improved Hoilett seems to have blinded some from the reality. If we want top 10? We bloody had top 10 before these clowns destroyed the infrastructure of the club. And as for the fans, they've seen Venky's and Keans 'whole new world of football' and seemingly want no part of it.

adsfortheblues Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Well if samba goes we've had it. We all know we will get beat at villa next week as well, what is there to be cheerful about, all suggestions welcomed?
Kelbo Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 The greatest worry for me is this, many English based players dont want to come to Rovers with this Manager and the owners we have been unfortunately left with, so not only do we have to find decent players, we have to find ones who want to come to Rovers and are good enough to improve our team. We simply cant afford to have players who need 6 months to adjust, they must have Prem experience.
John Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Compared with others, I have not been as concerned with our transfer activity, or lack of it, in the window. However, the fact we had Kean post match saying we HAVE to add to the squad in order to be competitive sums the situation up. Few weeks left to bring in players however hopefully we can pick up a few points in the meantime.
Vintage95 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 If the utd loam story is to be believed I can only really see us getting Gibson, jonny Evans or untested kids. most will argue better than what we've got. Not sure how i'd feel about the 1st two but being a testing ground is a risky strategy, especially when you look at how the mb diouf experiment ended!
chaddyrovers Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Rovers are after Mauricio Pinilla. He is striker from Chile. http://www.eyefootball.com/news/10267/Mauricio-Pinilla-on-Blackburn-shortlist/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mauricio_Pinilla#Club_career
Billy Castell Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Natural goal scorer then Chaddy! Looks like a Chilean Heskey judging by his goal record.
Hekla Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Can't see that website being reliable, wouldn't keep us up with that record.
daveoftherovers Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Okay, I've calmed down a bit after yesterday and I'm trying to pull some postives from it. Obviously, the last minute Givet hitch was an enormous blow, I thought N Zonzi and Hanley tried gainfully at the back, but Olsson went AWOL and Salgado had a shocker. Roberts had a decent game and I largely liked what I saw from Formica, Rochina and Goodwillie (The last 2 also nearly getting on the score sheet) I thought Dunn, Emerton And Pederson weren't playing and Olsson and Hoilett hid for large parts of the game, when they did get on it, we were a threat. Wolves worked hard but were lucky, and we looked like we were on the team sheet, make shift and in experienced. I don't think Samba ISN'T injured, I'm sorry if you disagree, but without evidence, that's an unfair crack at his character. If Givet had played and the Zonz in the middle, I think we would have looked more solid, but hey, that's life. I think Petrovich will make a difference in the next game, and if we can get a defender in or fit, that's obviously going to help, but we do need that proven striker. Great penalty save from Robbo, shame we panicked after. Also, no leader on the pitch yesterday...

Or off the pitch Chilean striker, is Kean not learning, we need Premier League experience now, players who can make an immediate impact, not in 6 months time when they have or if they have adjusted to our league.
Billy Castell Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Can't see that website being reliable, wouldn't keep us up with that record. OK it is Wikipedia, but we are talking about Kean and Venkys though.

I think he is looking at players we can afford....

chaddyrovers Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Natural goal scorer then Chaddy! Looks like a Chilean Heskey judging by his goal record. I agree BC. Knowing kean tho he will probably buy him then knowing him!!! AFter yesterday it has just highlighted what we all know before the start of the season. we are lacking a centre back, left back, ball winning midfielder and proven goalscorer and another striker. if Samba wants to go then let him go. get the best deal from Spurs we can. probably a swap deal with cash. I would ask for 7 million pounds plus Bassong, and I would accept that really. I'm just hoping that we can make 3 signings this week that we need ASAP! The owners have to put some serious money in NOW!!!! otherwise we are going to struggle this season!!!
Kelbo Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I think he is looking at players we can afford.... we are better without another silly wage for a player who is not good enough to make an immediate impact, all transfers are a bit of a gamble, but you must put the odds in your favour!!

Hughesy Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Get in touch with Spurs and get a deal set up.....Bassong, Krancjar & Defoe please. We NEED a reliable premier league goalscorer
