philipl Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 With Kean talking about 11 out and 3 in, presumably we are in the market for 8 players??? Probably not. OK so the budget is £10m plus £22m from selling Jones and Kalinic less the £6m on Radovic and Goodillie. ie £26m? No? So Venky's don't tell the truth and Kean is a patsie? ....

Grabbi Graeme Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I sat in on the post match press conference yesterday, Kean said the club had bids in for four players and was waiting to see if any were going to be accepted, he never mentioned which positions these players played in.

Not to mention the reduced wage bill from selling/releasing/sending out on loan the 11 players...WE SHOULD HAVE MONEY TO SPEND. x3 £5-8 MILLION PLAYERS SHOULDN'T BE BEYOND THIS WINDOW-answers needed!!!
Hekla Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Kean has been saying that for two weeks, 'four active bids' wouldn't take this long to find out if they are accepted or not.

Probably the same ones he mentioned a few weeks back.. still sitting on peoples desks and not followed up.. If it those he did actually say a midfielder, defender and striker (x2) at the time if i remember right. 2-4 weeks to find out if 3-4 bids are accepted is a joke.
Waggy76 Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I am becoming totally ###### off with all these lies and spin !!! Does anyone really believe , we will sign a player before 31st August??? At best we will end up with a couple of loans ..RSC and someone from Man Ushited .....
Plastic Head Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Has anyone read the Sunday People yet? Yes and my question is: Why was Kenny Dalglish driving Amy Winehouse around in a cab? My link
beastlove Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Kean has been saying that for two weeks, 'four active bids' wouldn't take this long to find out if they are accepted or not. Maybe the other clubs want to have replacements in place before deciding. That is my hope anyway . We need good players or we will godown
philipl Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Maybe the other clubs want to have replacements in place before deciding. That is my hope anyway . We need good players or we will godown What a good idea. Why didn't we do that?
Backroom Tom Posted August 14, 2011 Backroom Posted August 14, 2011 What a good idea. Why didn't we do that? Sadly seems a common occurance with Rovers, I remember selling Bentley and we were all convinced a RW was coming in to the point some weren't happy with the thought of Lennon, time went by and nobody came in.
PAFELL Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 What a good idea. Why didn't we do that? Don't be daft, that would too sensible for our owners and the manager.
JAL Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 After witnessing yesterdays appalling show, the only players brought in now have to be of proven premiership quality otherwise we are down.
bigbrandjohn Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Plenty of clubs waiting for the last two weeks to make their moves. Two things you can be sure of. Inflated prices and plenty of tears. Followed two months later by at least three sackings. Welcome to a new season where some clubs make things happen, some clubs watch what happens, and some clubs wonder what happened.
PAFELL Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 After witnessing yesterdays appalling show, the only players brought in now have to be of proven premiership quality otherwise we are down. As much as I dislike Kean as a manager. I won't give him the whole blame for yesterdays result. Losing you main CB's will be bad for any team. But the lack of depth in the squad falls on the owners, not replacing Phil Jones is the worse of all. They could have said to Man U we accept your offer, once we find a replacement first. Even letting Andrews out on loan with the squad as weak in numbers is also bad. Not rating him as a player. But would rather him than nobody - just. Grella should be sacked for his persistant non attendence at work, failure to act as a footballer should do, i.e play football. We have to hope Goodwillie loses weight and gets fit. Petrovic hits the ground running and is a fast learner. Givet and Samba get fit and remain at the club.
Oklahoma Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Mangala for Rovers? I have no idea where this came from but here in Portugal the news is that Mangala and Defour, centre back and midfielder of Standard Liege are close to signing for FC Porto. It seems that they will pay around €6 million for each. I think Mangala could be a great signing for us and I doubt that €6 million is the correct price they'll pay for him. Benfica was the first portuguese team to be linked to him and the price was higher. Anyway, this seems to be just a rumour to try to make FC Porto pay more... EDIT: Just read on a portuguese newspaper that a deal has been reached between FC Porto and Standard Liege. €6 million for Defour and €7 million for Mangala, apparently. So the question is, why are there news coming out linking Rovers with players that are already being transfered? Just to make the fans more p+ssed?
Hi Mack Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I can see Keane coming in with Gibson and J Evans! Would we be stronger?....yes! Would I be a little dissapointed?.....Yes! Is Cisse totally out of the picture?
Torgeir Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 Plenty of clubs waiting for the last two weeks to make their moves. Two things you can be sure of. Inflated prices and plenty of tears. Followed two months later by at least three sackings. Welcome to a new season where some clubs make things happen, some clubs watch what happens, and some clubs wonder what happened. That's the thing, everyone knows that prices are massively inflated towards the end of the summer window and in the January window as well. If we don't strengthen then at some stage of this season Kean will get the sack, probably without there being a replacement ready. We go down and the owners lose interest and we become the next Pompey. Or we stop sulking about prices being high and realise how important it is to get proven quality that we actually stick to our words for once and reinvest the P. Jones money. Considering our ultra thin squad - how can EH Diouf not even be on the bench at the moment?
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 We've played hoofball with Kean from day one, a few passages of largely ineffcectual passing and an improved Hoilett seems to have blinded some from the reality. If we want top 10? We bloody had top 10 before these clowns destroyed the infrastructure of the club. And as for the fans, they've seen Venky's and Keans 'whole new world of football' and seemingly want no part of it. Spot on. Sam had us stable and getting results. We'd have beat Wolves yesterday, and we'd be contending Europe with him at the helm. But the minority of selfish Rovers fans wanted sexy football and to lose by playing good. I'd rather win playing hoofball and celebrate by going out on the lash happy on a Saturday night!

I thought that about EHD yesterday , after the game , surely a better sub than Blackman and the rest (not including Goodwillie)
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 not really we were linked to Onuoha again. but we have been linked with him for most of the summer. if we want him, then get on with it I'd love this signing, but if it's in the People, it's probably a space-saver, and probably won't happen.

he6rt6gr6m Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I thought that about EHD yesterday , after the game , surely a better sub than Blackman and the rest (not including Goodwillie) Yup. At first I thought Venky's were getting rid because of his controversy. But then they signed Goodwillie. I remember reading that Venky's read this board, but I doubt they read this thread. Shame too, because most of us are speaking more sense than they have in the past 9 months of control

Two very good signings for Porto, at great prices also. Both of these at Blackburn would have been huge.
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 14, 2011 Posted August 14, 2011 I didn't see much sexy football yesterday, looked more like the old hoofball tactics on the whole It was hoofball. Something the said minority and owners said they were sick of. And there we are, after 3 months and a pre-season, back to what worked under a different manager.
