It was hoofball. Something the said minority and owners said they were sick of. And there we are, after 3 months and a pre-season, back to what worked under a different manager.

Sam understands that you can't outplay better teams on the ground so hoofing is needed. Given enough money and backing he would have adapted our style of football as well. Doesn't matter now, one of the chickens whispered in Venky's ears and he's gone.

With our current squad we will go down. If we suffer a minimum of injuries and suspensions we might be fortunate and stay up but we'll be in the bottom five or six. Spend £15-20m plus a couple of loans and we'll be fine.

That's the thing, everyone knows that prices are massively inflated towards the end of the summer window and in the January window as well. If we don't strengthen then at some stage of this season Kean will get the sack, probably without there being a replacement ready. We go down and the owners lose interest and we become the next Pompey.

Or we stop sulking about prices being high and realise how important it is to get proven quality that we actually stick to our words for once and reinvest the P. Jones money.

Considering our ultra thin squad - how can EH Diouf not even be on the bench at the moment?

Because, IMO, our manager is a total d1ckhead. Simple as.

Completely agree.

But linking them to Rovers when they already have a deal with FC Porto is wierd, don't you think?

Yes very strange. But we had the situation with Miranda when he had signed a contract for A.Madrid and with another player I think.

Spot on. Sam had us stable and getting results. We'd have beat Wolves yesterday, and we'd be contending Europe with him at the helm. But the minority of selfish Rovers fans wanted sexy football and to lose by playing good. I'd rather win playing hoofball and celebrate by going out on the lash happy on a Saturday night!

this is getting so boring listening to this. get over it. i wanted sam out as going to rovers was boring. i heard he was sacked and i was quite pleased as were a lot of fans.

we fans who didnt like watching sams style didnt envisage a nobody being put in charge. grow up with these childish comments on fans being selfish. that doesnt even make sense.

Charlton fans were glad to see the back of Alan Curbishley after years of stablity and good results, and it's been downhill all the way for them ever since. Rovers fans are just as stupid it seems.

It's competitive sport with millions of pounds at stake not bloody Transformers 3 at Vue.

Those who put the club first were aghast then and we are aghst now.

i agree that sacking sam was a mistake due to the fact we got a nobody in to replace him. when he was sacked the fans who didnt like his style were happy thinking that we were going to get a proper manager in. not steve kean who had been at the club for a while and 90% of people didnt know who he was.

how that is selfish is beyond me. if each fan who didnt like sam was asked if they wanted sam out to be replaced by kean then i doubt 1 person would have agreed to that. it had nothing to do with you THINKING you were putting the club first.

what you try to do by posting these comments is to make out that the sam lovers are better fans than the fans who liked to see sam go. that isnt true its just about preference. some people want to be entertained which for me and a lot of others wasnt happening under sam.

but your a better fan than me so i suppose nothing i say will change your blinded opinions of other people

ffs, just get a defender or 2 in. 1st September to judge, to hell with that theory. Baldy knew he sold Jones, he knew Nelsen was injured, he knows Givet is more a left back, he sold Zurab so why the (Please don't use that word again) did he not rectify the problem? clueless ######!

A fan is a fan, you pay your money and you are entitled to have any opinion you like.

However, I do believe that those celebrating Sam's departure WERE selfish. Why? Because their desire to be 'entertained' means they gave no thought to the fact that a skint BRFC cannot be competitive and play 'good' football.

Also, Can anybody explain to me how the utter tripe witnessed at Ewood Park under Steve Kean is any way better than the excellent home form we had under the last maanger?

Not so sure I'd go along with the selfish bit.

But fundamentally, those who wanted Sam to stay at least knew a bit about the game. Enough to know that top 10 football on the budget Sam operated on was enough of a big achievement. They knew that top 10 football whilst playing attractive football on the budget Sam operated on would be asking Sam to do what pretty much no one had done in recent Premier League history. They're also fans who will always get more entertained by seeing their side win scrappily than by seeing their side lose whilst playing nice football.

The sheer lack of logic in sacking Sam in the first place, the sheer idiocy behind such a decision meant that the fact we didn't get a decent replacement was merely a continuation of that. Not some sort of massive shock like it was for some of you.

Hold your hands up and admit you were wrong. It's not that hard to do.

thats exactly what im saying. jesus christ no rovers fan wanted us in this situation. wanting a change isnt selfish. i couldnt stand being at ewood most times as it was horrible to watch. how is that selfish? though im sure someone will tell me im not a real fan for saying this or you'll say go support another team then.

but as i said in my last post we never envisaged the replacment would ahve been kean. listen to what we say instead of wanting to have a snipe at us all the time. we wanted a change for the better not to take a step backwards.

your that busy wanting to have a go at the people that wanted sam out that you dont care that we dont like where we are. this is probably faling on deaf ears but ill say it again

IF WE'D HAVE KNOWN THAT SAM WOULD BE REPLACED BY KEAN WE WOULD HAVE MUCH PREFERED SAM

cant believe people are still bangin on about Allardass, whether you where for or against the decicion hes well gone now, get the bleep over it(and in the transfer thread of all places!).

very true and i apologise for going off topic but im sick of comments aimed at the non sam lovers like we created this problem.

back on topic. i think we will sign maybe 2 more players but nobody of note and nothing that would improve us.

But it wasn't horrible to watch at all. A lot of the away games were, I'll give you that. But at Ewood we won game after game- I loved it, and so did most other fans by the looks on their faces as they left the ground after another 3 points.

And I'm sorry this 'well if we knew it would have been Kean we would have changed our tune', doesn't wash- what fan with his head scred on wants a manager doing a good job to get the boot in the middle of the season without having the slightest clue who is going to replace him?

Yeah yeah I'm banging on about lard-arse, delete the posts if you like mods, I just cannot abide reading this nonsense.

With Kean talking about 11 out and 3 in, presumably we are in the market for 8 players???

....

Just out of interest - who are the 11? Gunning, Brown, RSC, Andrews, JJ, P Jones, Benjani, Mame, Kalinic - Who else?

Out of those 9 - Gunning (Never played), Brown (We have Jake Kean), RSC (did nothing). Andrews & Mame also offered very little all last season. Benjani had 1 good game (v Liverpool).

Is he including EHD?

I get the feeling that he is including EHD and Grella in that figure, even though they have not been sold yet.

Probably Fielding and Diouf as well...

The 11 senior wages off the books are; M Diouf, R Santa Cruz, J Jones (all loanees). J Brown, Khizanishvili, Rigters, P Jones, Doran, Benjani, Kalinic and Gunning.

Remember some of these were still Rovers players on long term outward loans. We may have been paying some of their wages.

I reckon Dave S has got it right so that is 11 out plus EHD and Grella who Rovers want out and Samba who wants out of his own volition.

So 14 either gone or so going they are not available for selection.

On the Kean comment of 3 players coming in, which of Ribeiro, Goodwillie, Petrovic and Anderson doesn't count?

Does anybody think that Federico Macheda could be a real possibility on loan? He doesn't figure in today's match and Kean was talking about loans from United. I think that it is possible to do and I think he has something about him to make an impact here.
