Why do you want a winger?! We have six players who can play there- Olsson, Hoilett, Formica, ROchina, Emerton, Pedersen. Signing a winger makes no sense. Priority order is, for me:-

1) Experienced goalscoring target man striker

2) Experienced ball winning central midfielder

3) Up and coming central defender

4) A young up and coming striker - ideally a target man

5) A specialist left back

Because of the injuries 3) is currently the number one priority - but if everyone was fit the above is accurate in my opinion.

Great Post Joey. I agree with you about the five position we need to fill before the transfer window closes.

The owners HAVE to let Kean buying in at least 4/5 players before the transfer window closes.

We also need to sort out this Samba situation aswell. If he wants to go then let him go. Like Kamy and Nicko said in the podcast if he is going then get a agent in to sell him for us for the best price.

Also maybe go for Jermaine Jones now aswell. He did not play at the weekend for Schalke and hopefully they will have drop his price to get rid of him and his wages.

I am just hoping that the owners will listen to what Kean says and the players he wants in.

A limited budget? Are you ###### kidding me?! Bring back the ###### Trust. At least when they made money disappear they didn't make us a laughing stock!

Kean can, the owners can't and never will

To be fair we did make the right positional signings last Jan, and the signing of Petrovic and Goodwillie have made sense so far. We just need to build on them and fast.

You stick Samba, Nelsen, Jermaine Jones and Raul in our side and we would actually look like a pretty good team in my opinion with a decent shout for top half.

odenwingie (wba) whould be a good shout

£1.5m rejected from Wigan, as I said a few pages back.

Laughable price from a 15-goal striker last season.

5 year contract signed only a few months ago - tough sh!t pal your staying!

Did I miss the memo that said a contract was a contract and you HAD to honour it? ;)

I would go for Jonny Evans and Gibson, Fergie has four top centre backs and Evans is better than most, young and hungry, then Raul, if we have Raul, Roberts, Goodwillie and another loanee we may be close to having a squad.

No chance. Rafael, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra all injured? Nobody will be leaving United now...

Rover & out a Macheda loan would be better than nowt and it still leaves us money to buy another CF as even our bench looks threadbare so Macheda & 1 other would do then buy gibson would be good.

I'd rather Roque than Macheda. Seriously.

That's a bloody awful clutch of straws...

So, he didn't celebrate, so he's off to Ewood? *Facepalm*

The 11 senior wages off the books are; M Diouf, R Santa Cruz, J Jones (all loanees). J Brown, Khizanishvili, Rigters, P Jones, Doran, Benjani, Kalinic and Gunning.

Remember some of these were still Rovers players on long term outward loans. We may have been paying some of their wages.

I reckon Dave S has got it right so that is 11 out plus EHD and Grella who Rovers want out and Samba who wants out of his own volition.

So 14 either gone or so going they are not available for selection.

On the Kean comment of 3 players coming in, which of Ribeiro, Goodwillie, Petrovic and Anderson doesn't count?

despite naming 14 players and including Jan.. you missed Fielding, Chimbonda and Andrews.. so thats 17 players short on last season, I will concede that most of them didn't play but you will find that between them they played an awful lot of games and provided backup.

Overall 17 out and 6 in out of which 0 are experienced PL players.

That is a terrifying stat.

Venky's producing 17 out going and 6 in coming.

Another catastrophic chicken fail.

OK so, M Diouf, R Santa Cruz, J Jones (all loanees). J Brown, Khizanishvili, Rigters, P Jones, Doran, Benjani, Kalinic, Gunning, Fielding, Chimbonda and Andrews gone. Plus EHD and Grella to go?

So we've lost one good loan player (J Jones), a great young defender (P Jones), a striker who didn't fit in (Kalinic) and a backup midfielder (Andrews).

Of the rest, aren't you over the moon that we've managed to get rid of the dead wood that constitutes M Diouf, R Santa Cruz, J Brown, Khizanishvili, Rigters and Chimbonda?

The rest are kids who can be replaced by other kids.

I'm over the moon about the apparent desire to slim down the squad and utilise our younger players more. I hated having expensive "established" players draining the club's funds every week.

I'm all for 'panning out' the squad with kids but to do so and survive you need to have a very strong first 11...which we are 5 quality players away from having!

I see Poulson at Liverpool is available. He would be a good signing on loan. Massive amounts of experience and a very good player. Just the sort of player we need.

Not many days left in the transfer window. The time for action is now. The next two weeks are the most important in Rovers recent history. Good players through the door has to be the highest priority for everyone at the club.

all well and good, in that we have got rid of the deadwood. However, when you sell or release a player, at least find a replacement 1st, or bring in somebody 1st. This policy of releasing players, left, right and centre, with nobody lined up is ridiculous.

What's the point talking about names when the truth of the matter is WHO WILL SIGN FOR ROVERS IN THE MIDST OF ALL THE TURMOIL? I can't see things improving whilst Kean and Venkys are here.

Thiis is the key point and having listened to the podcast, whatever way you look at it, we are nowhere near making any signing at the moment.

The point about the deadwood is that most of them were Premier League level and can and did do a job when needed.

What we have now are kids who almost certainly couldn't do a job if called upon as we don't have enough experience or character left at Ewood.

Interesting to hear nicko say that the long lists of players we were chasing were accurate and that a lot of approaches had been made.

Not a lot of consolation when we are getting thumped every week and are adrift at the bottom.

But it's all right, we tried to get some very good players

Interesting that Kean in todays LT makes reference to the number who have gone out, and the hole in salaries that must have produced, which needs to be filled. He says its a large number in terms of salary and says we need experienced players in.

He wants "at least 4 more" - with a central defender, midfielder, striker and possibly another central defender his priority.

Sign Joey Barton and make him our captain! At least he would behave himself. I think he likes to be important.

I would sign him - problem is, on here many wouldnt.

On saturday he would have made a HUGE difference and would have bossed the midfield on his own. It might also give Pedersen that kick up the backside (probably literally) that he needs.
