I'd take him over Nelson purely on the basis that he has two knees. But when Nelsen was Johnson's age; he was in a different class.

Batman and Robin are at a bar. Batman however is wasted. So being his reliable side kick, Robin decides he should drive. He gets Batman into the Batmobile turns on the car and jets of. Hes excited about driving the Batmobile and goes along rigorously changing gears.

He shifts gears constantly. Gear up, gear down, gear up, gear down all the way to Batman's Mansion. Took him a good 15 minutes to get there. So he parks, looks at Batman and says, Well were here Batman. Batman turns and looks at him with a gaze, grabs Robin's hand and tells him.

Robin you and I both know very well the Batmobile is automatic.

plan last, as of last week was for a cheap/ cover centre half.. and unless samba is sold another CB wouldnt be bought

Makes perfect sense to me. Cover is all we need. How likely do you think it is that Samba will leave...surely if the Spurs interest is real then he (and his agent) are going to push hard for the move? If that's the case I'd rather we tried to get over with quickly, instead of dragging it on.

We know Spurs don't have much money to spend since missing out on the Champions League, so we should squeeze them for a few players. If Samba wants to go then I'd take Bassong, Bentley and a bit of cash. Bassong is an excellent centre half but doesn't seem to be Harry's type for some reason.

Scott Dann? He's out for a few weeks if I'm not mistaken and would be a long shot as Liverpool and Arsenal have shown interest and would more likely get him if they made a move.

no. dann isnt who i refer to.

samba. time is ticking. he'll only go if he fancies spuds, and spuds offer us enough money or players that we would want. they havent so far.

IF spuds want him.. they will TRY and wait til last day of window. im certain of that. t***s.

told he's not been left out cos of the move.. purely fitness. and he still is part of the 1st team .do i think he'll go ? .. as of today.. no.

Is Colin Hendry coming out of retirement like Rocky Balboa?

I did think before that it could be worth offering a short term contract to Sol Campbell. He's been training with Arsenal all summer so should be fit. He could be the new Tony Gale.

MOTD showed Wes Browns honours on saturday evening, 2 European cups, 5 Premier league titles, 2 FA cups, 2 League Cups and 23 England caps. Rubbish eh

I'm sure Victor Valdes' honours list is quite impressive as well, doesn't stop him being an awful goalkeeper.

Igor Biscan has an impressive list too, same applies.

If you play in a team that is very good they can carry poorer players. For Wes Brown he didn't even have to play much to get most of those. As for 23 England caps it just shows how biased the selection process is towards players that play for Man Utd.

Valdes has been in the Barca sticks for a decade. A similar amount of time to that Brown spent winning trophies at United.

Who's opinion to trust? Ferguson, Rijkaard, Guardiola? Or 'modes98' on an internet forum?

So Valdes and Brown are awful, but Roger Johnson is quality?

Jesus Christ describing Valdes as an "awful" keeper destroys any credibility in your ability to judge a players' ability

Is anyone else hoping that Venky's have only been waiting for the verdict today to get rid of Keen and bring someone in and then start splashing the cash about? Or am I really clutching at straws here?

Valdes and Brown are reasonable at their roles, but the former has a super team in front of him, and the latter has been a bit of a fringe player at a club he came throught the ranks. Next Batman will be telling us how great David May is, or how George Best is less than 50% as good as David Beckham because the latter has more than double the caps than the former.

I hope you are right, perhaps there really is 50 million pounds just waiting to be spent.

You clearly didn't watch much Spanish football last season?!

Valdes had a brilliant season, making some crucial saves and would have featured in many pundits La Liga team of the season.

From which post did you decipher that I would be saying things like that? Please quote any post I have made that is irrational, or where I have failed to justify my point of view.

I suggested that players who have been on the fringes of the first team at Europe's top clubs are often a class above first team players at your run of the mill clubs. Is this such a ridiculous statement?

I also suggested that Roger Johnson wasn't a 'top' centre half. Is this such a shocking statement? Was I also wrong to suggest that I would take Alex Ferguson's, Frank Rijaard's, and Josep Guardiola's judgment of a player over modes98's?

Or, is your post just OTT garbage?

the defender Zacc is talking about i think is Jonny Evans , Utd wont let any defenders go at the mo , so we will have to wait a few weeks if we want him ... the thing is we need defenders NOW!!! maybe we should enquire/make a bid for a spuds player first and force their hand otherwise like has been said they will come with a low offer 10pm august 31st

that's a name i havent heard of.. where does it mention rovers ? ;)

gamble on paying that sort of cash for him.

rodellega is valued at a similar price and more proven... idve liked us to go for him, but looks like we've missed the boat on him too.

on hitz. injury history is a worry... and we already have grella!

heard an interesting name today.. as the CB. but waiting on more info before i post anymore on him.

Rodellega would have been my No1 transfer target for this summer, quality, proven player.

I got it from you banging on about Brown's honours and international caps. I was pointing out that crap players like May can accumulate the honours despite being mediocre at best. The Best/Beckham line was just me being a bit rude I admit, but it was to highlight the fact stats can obscure things. Wes Brown is reasonably good at Premier league level, but his wages are probably bad value for money. I also said that Valdes was a pretty good keeper, who happens to be helped by having 10 other orgasmically good players in front of him.

As it happens, I admit I haven't seen much of Johnson, but just because he has gone down with Brum does not necessarily mean he's crap which appears to be your view. Was Matt Jansen crap, or Duff?

I take slight offence that you are yet another new poster coming on and giving it the billy big balls act, as you have with the post above. Sorry, but that's how I see your last few posts.

I'd be interested in Evans. He has lost his way a little, but was considered a hot talent a few years ago. Maybe a new club might work for him.

No. I initially suggested that Johnson wasn't as good as some of the hype that has seemingly surrounded him recently. Then people disagreed, and were pretty rude in the process (including an apparent moderator).

I then 'give it back,' and then people get tetchy. I see now that old posters can be as rude as they like, but newbies have to take it like a bitch?

Yeah, that's about it. Welcome to the forum. Don't forget not to say anything negative about Fat Sam or you'll really get it.

Sent you a PM.

What do you think about Evans, if he is Zac's mystery defender.

If the player won't be available for a few weeks then they must either be currently injured or hasn't played played for ages due to not being first choice at their club and nowhere near being match fit.

Na Kean was quoted weeks ago that we had a few bids in, don't think they have anyone really working on getting the deals hurried up though.

I do worry Venkys "new model" for running a club as mentioned in the offer document basically involves turning us into a kids conveyor belt by pushing youngsters into the first team asap which simply does not work.. would explain why every signing (not including loan players) so far fits a standard profile i.e. young, not english, no EPL experience so fairly cheap meaning potentially huge profit margins in the long run even if you get the odd one wrong. Worrying part is the guys who came up with the model have since been dumped (SEM/Kentaro etc) and there are reasons why clubs don't work this way.

Cannot say sem came up with that model. Look at palmero, the yellow subs, Porto, Lyon, even arsenal. It is the only way rovers could be competitive
