Bennisfromheaven Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Well, I for one wanted to believe that Venkys intentions were honorable, I hoped that the reasons were that they wanted a positive figurehead & positive football. I said "becoming apparent" because I was willing to give them until September 1st & judge them on their transfer activity after all, they did say "judge us at the end of this season" If we dont make any signings of significance by September 1st we will only be fire fighting in January!! I really am worried!!

den Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Begining to? I thought it was obvious at the time and said so and of course most of here thought I was just being conspiratorial but why else do you think he was sacked a couple of weeks before the window opened? Beginning to. Indeed TB&W!
imy9 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Glen on Twitter has said Venkys expect to bag a couple of players this week, stepping up transfer activity... well seeing is believing Venkys!
A cup of beans Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 To be fair to Venky's they have never said that they want Raul, in fact they have said the opposite that they are not interested in him, so can't really have a go at them RE Raul. hi kamy. how new/ recent is that info.. ?? Ive been assured by an excellent source, there have been discussions between rovers and raul.. by agents and also through salgado..,. going back to may time. also been in discussions with schalke.. on and off since early july. has gone quieter over the last fortnight.. to silence now both from rovers end and raul's. here's hoping its quiet cos something is getting done. on the duff rumour.. i'll look into that.
SamTheShrew Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Glen on Twitter has said Venkys expect to bag a couple of players this week, stepping up transfer activity... well seeing is believing Venkys! We have heard this all summer. Just go and do it already, why even talk about it. And who really trusts what they 'expect'? They initially 'expected' champions league off 5 million per season...
Roversi Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 On the continent Porto have agreed a fee of around 5.5 mill for Steven defour. What a bargain for a player of his ability, the exact type of player we need.

I checked again with them yesterday and got told the same, not interested. There is always the possibility that they (Venky's) are being economically with the truth but to be fair to them they sounded definitive on this and have been consistent about. On the continent Porto have agreed a fee of around 5.5 mill for Steven defour. What a bargain for a player of his ability, the exact type of player we need. Yeah saw that, unbeliveable deal to get someone of Defour's calibre at such a price.
sharpysharps Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Kamy have you heard anything in what Glenn has said about Venkys hoping to have a couple of targets sorted out this week?
dubdubdub Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Who have we signed then? Been away for a week. I'm guessing it's nobody but await to be pleasantly surprised...
67splitscreen Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Bargain. I had him on my list in the 'I wish...' thread. Porto also bagged Eliaquim Mangala 6m, where were we, Aldi looking in the wheelie bins. Spuds were in for him, expect they will now get more serious in their pursuit of other CB targets.
Veevs Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Defour 5.5m.. dang thats a very very good deal.. if only we had some money.. Kamy phone em up and name drop.. lol
cesus Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 The worrying thing for me is that transfers are never silent anymore people on twitter and here have called every transfer we have made this summer. Yet at the moment I don't hear any names whatsoever being linked. We need players this week and I just can't see it happening this month!
mark1875 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Totally off topic but does anyone know why there isn't any midweek games at the start of season in the prem? There's usually always 3 games in 7 days at the start? i can't recall this being done since 2006?

Agree there mate.. the bit that really scares me is normally agents and clubs leek the info if one of their players has been bid for.. mainly to up the price and see if anyone else is interested. This has not happened as such I am guessing the 3-4 bids Kean thinks we have put in are either half arsed or simply none existant (which would mean even Kean is being told porkies).
Kamy100 Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Kamy have you heard anything in what Glenn has said about Venkys hoping to have a couple of targets sorted out this week? I have and it sounds positive, BUT as this summer as consistently proved with Rovers being hopeful and having BIDS accepted are two completely different things. The name that I have heard a few times over the last week has been Miguel Torres of Gatefe. Maybe that is one that they are trying to push through. A very decent player but for me he wouldn't be a priority, we desperately need to get some players in with Premier League experience.
alexanders Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I have and it sounds positive, BUT as this summer as consistently proved with Rovers being hopeful and having BIDS accepted are two completely different things. Good Kamy. Hold us down until its done and dusted!

Very strange one that.. unless Kean has realised Salgado is getting on a bit to much, but with limited money we should be looking for more urgent positions. And of all the positions probably the one we need least (although he can play at left back).
ewoodnews Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I have some inside info from training ground about two signings that are close. I have been told that they will be spending £13m on two players and one transfer will break our record. I am not going to tell the names yet as they are not 100% signed but when i am sure that they are coming i will name them. My source wont allow me to name anybody yet but they may have been mentioned on here before. If these two players came i think we would be looking at a top 10 finish.

And of all the positions probably the one we need least (although he can play at left back). The bit highlighed in bold is the key. He is known as a RB, but he is every bit as good at LB. If we bring him in, he will be replacing Givet at LB I think. And that can only be a good thing, as Givet is ######.
sharpysharps Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Thanks for the update Kamy and hopefully Venkys do get a move on this week, both Goodwillie and Petrovic deals came out of the blue but they definately both took too long to complete the deals (especially Goodwillie). I dread to think what will happen if Rovers fail to sign anymore significant players before the window closes. IMO Rovers need a minimum of 4 new players and ideally a couple of those need to be real leaders on the pitch as without Samba and Nelsen on Saturday that was something we really missed. I'll believe it when I see it if Rovers break their transfer record this summer...

Well even if true we are still a few players short.. even you said yourself we needed 5 players and that was prior to Kalinic going.

This is the exact reason why I haven't really been active on here, VB and Twitter. So many people claiming the same BS "I know who we are after and it's exciting, but I am not going to tell you who they are, instead I will choose to string you along and pretend I knew who our targets were all along, as and when we sign them" it's utter ###### and posts like this are pointless. What use are they, really? They reveal no information at all, we have been told by Kean that we have active bids, and a million people have already said we will break our transfer record if one of them comes off, so please, stop posting speculative posts unless you are going to provide info different to the otheR 1000 people "in the know" on here and Twitter.

Torres would allow givet to be backup CB and in the long run he could replace salgado at RB. Olsson could then also play LM.
