Would rovers not be using say... 7 million of our transfer budget to make it happen? Say 3-4 for the transfer and the rest to fund his wages?...

Instead of buying someone for around 5-6 million with less wages.

Raul would give the fans a lift but the team desperately needs an experienced Anglo-Saxon centre half more than another Carlos Kickaball. Perhaps Raul could come as a double deal with Jermaine Jones, whose wife I believe is still living in England and has refused to return to Germany. Now that would make sense.

The money? £4m plus what, £100k per week? Money well spent, IMO. Commercially, he will probably pay that money back in shirt sales alone. He will also show the footballing world that Venky's mean business, and he will attract a better calibre of player to our club. People are so blind when all they look at are his age and his wages.

Not against the signing of Raul.. excited by it, Salgado is his mate and no doubt some levels of talks will of already taken place so we should have a decent idea of his fee/wages etc.

Yes he will help us attract players, will increase our profile, help the youngsters and probably help us keep players.. but there is no way on this planet he will pay for himself and there is no way the footballing world will change its opinion of Venkys due to one transfer.

Only thing that puts me of Raul is age and his monster wages. He defo has the talent but I suspect when push comes to shove Venkys will bottle it. As has been said by other people I would rather have 3 or 4 squad players than Raul.
