67splitscreen Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Raul has found out the wages/length of contract on offer? I think you may be close there, just been reading Nickos tweets back to when the story broke, I think a clue to the refusal may lie here. @RME105 Richard Ennis @reluctantnicko Any news on Raul? I see German newspaper are carrying comments that Schalke HAVE received a bit from rovers and are to talk 4 hours ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply reluctantnicko Alan Nixon @ @RME105 There was an interest a month ago. Currently after someone else. If that package is too dear u could go back for Raul. 3 hours ago Favorite Retweet Reply Think today's bid caught Nicko on the hop as it did with most, it sounds to me that, Yes he has turned us down as the unofficial package we may have offered him was not enough but! ........

Ricky Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I'd take yakubu although there's no way he can be 28, surely it's gotta be a dodgy Nigerian passport!! Shipped out on loan last year and did well. Would fit the style we play and would be a great improvement on roberts. Would also tie in with the £3-£4m we are rumoured to be looking at spending. Would be a very good choice indeed.
Commondore Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Chaddy I agree, I think his fee would be reasonable too, his wages less so. Aren't Everton supposed to be oh so economically responsible? I find it hard to believe that he's on monster wages, within football standards that is...
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Could have rejected us due to the fact that hes in europe with a decent team in a world class stadium in a decent domestic comp and doesnt want to uproot again and has made amends with manager after their apparent fall out. And nothing to do with the fact we are blackburn rovers as we are right now Didn't watch them fall apart last season, did you? Did really well in the UCL, but were embarrassing in the league, and probably will be again this season, given the 300m debt and selling of creative midfielders. Seriously, he'd be better off here.
mozsupportsrovers Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Venkys get out and give Onuoha, Gibson, bellamy and Crouch what they want and get us out this mess
Exiled_Rover Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Probably all the p*ss taking since the story broke. I heard Talk Sport's reporting of it earlier and the first question they asked their German correspondent was "Why on earth would he want to play for Blackburn Rovers?" and Twitter was the same. If you read/heard people taking the mick out of a club would you then want to join them? Also, isn't he chasing a Champions League record from Inzaghi or something? And this why I've fallen out of love with football. If you're not one of the big boys, or one of the 'in' crowd you get absolutely no respect.
koi Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Aren't Everton supposed to be oh so economically responsible? I find it hard to believe that he's on monster wages, within football standards that is... Looking at their accounts I'm surprised they can pay afford to pay the minimum wage.

I disagree. I did see them fall apart in the league. But so did we. And we werent even in europe. Yes they have a big debt and have sold some good players. We may not have the debt but we have certainly lost some good experiencdd players and havent replaced them. We have a manager who doesnt know whos in charge of the club and is a proven drink driver and who i lost all respect for when found guilty. So we are in basically the same boat, but they have a better manager now and like i said a better stadium and attendances and are still in europe. For me schalke sounds the better option
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Venkys get out and give Onuoha, Gibson, bellamy and Crouch what they want and get us out this mess Crouch!? And that's why you don't manage a football club. I disagree. I did see them fall apart in the league. But so did we. And we werent even in europe. You're clutching at straws bringing up stuff like drink-driving. We'd beat Schalke. I'm confident of that. Raul should pick the better side.
tchocky Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I believe Schalke are using Rovers to drum up a bidding war here, and Raul has not turned us down - yet. When there are quotes from the man himself, or Rovers confirm it, I'll believe it. For now though I will give it until tomorrow afternoon. Obviously there's a good chance he does turn us down, but at the moment something doesn't add up here.
beastlove Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Has the yak done anything in the last couple of years. He was good for his first season with ever ton but has been injured a lot. Not sure he would do it for us

We may be too small a club for a big ego like his. Great player though. A shame.

Our attendance has dropped. Saturday was embarrassing. Give me 1 good thing steve kean has done as amanager that would make players want to join this team? I honestly think we wouldnt with the way our team is at the moment. A team with j jones, raul, huntelaar, papdopalas(sp) jurado, mertesacker, Lewis holtby to name some would leave us in their wake.
A cup of beans Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Has the yak done anything in the last couple of years. He was good for his first season with ever ton but has been injured a lot. Not sure he would do it for us doubt yak. think its rubbish. where's this come from ?? leicester fans slated him last season.. after he had a decent start. i bloody hope not! he's a fat b8stard.. saw him a gigg lane in pre season. and 28.. more like 38.
Backroom Tom Posted August 16, 2011 Backroom Posted August 16, 2011 I think it's even more important we get a striker in this week now after this latest knock back. I doubt that will happen though and we will line up at weekend with no further signings on board.
hawkiiz Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Very weird. Schalke say Rovers lodged a bid, but did not say if it was accepted or not, but said they would ask Raul what to do? What the eff is that all about? Either the bid is good enough, or it is not. Raul has nothing to do with it until a bid has been accepted..? Or what am I missing?
1864roverite Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 I cant really believe so many of our fans were actually taken in by the suggestion that Raul would actually come to Ewood, maybe some of us have been Venkynised eh !!! Priority should now be focused on defender, midfieldeer and a striker ASAP.

hawkiiz Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Clause? Still if the bid is accepted, then ROVERS should talk to the player, not Schalke and his agent. He is not going to sell the idea of Rovers to Raul. So ultimately the bid can not have been accepted..?? I don't get it.
budha Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Still if the bid is accepted, then ROVERS should talk to the player, not Schalke and his agent. He is not going to sell the idea of Rovers to Raul. So ultimately the bid can not have been accepted..?? I don't get it. They wanted to talk to Raul wether he was interested on the move or not. If he was interested, they would've started negotiating with us about the transfer - sum, details etc? Why waste time crossing the t's and dotting the i's with us if the player has no interest of moving?
Nelsta Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 they say that if Raul wants to leave they will respect him, so i assume we made a bid, they asked wether Raul wanted to come here before either accepting or dismissing! Only a guess.

If he was interested, they would've started negotiating with us about the transfer - sum, details etc? Why waste time crossing the t's and dotting the i's with us if the player has no interest of moving? But how can he judge wether he is interested or not? If he is on £100k wages, and we for some reason decide to offer £150k he would be interested? Like I said, he should allow ROVERS to sell our club to him, not Schalke. It's like Burnley asking YOU to have a chat with Chris Samba about a move to Burnley...
broadsword Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 We'd beat Schalke. I'm confident of that. Raul should pick the better side. We just got beat at home by Wolves. WAKEY WAKEY! Time to wake up and smell the curry.
Balwer Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Schalke have said that Rovers have made an official enquiry according to various media sources, not made a formal bid. On that basis there's no need to accept or reject anything. To the person who said we'd beat Schalke, the team that beat Inter Milan 5-2 in last year's Champions League Quarter Finals, I have no words.
hawkiiz Posted August 16, 2011 Posted August 16, 2011 Schalke have said that Rovers have made an official enquiry according to various media sources, not made a formal bid. On that basis there's no need to accept or reject anything. But why even involve Raul? I doubt they asked him if we would join Rovers if he got a good offer etc, and he said "NO. Under no circumstances will I join Blackburn Rovers." That would be very strange in a business where money talks.
