Eddie Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 very average player, no thanks He's a decent player. A premier league level defender and certainly good cover. In my opinion he would be our best option at left back (if we signed him that is...I can think of better left backs...)

gazsimm Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 He's a decent player. A premier league level defender and certainly good cover. In my opinion he would be our best option at left back (if we signed him that is...I can think of better left backs...) i thought when he was at Fulham, he lacked pace for a full back. Anyway suppose he can't be any slower then Givet!! Leeds are after Santa Cruz and Fulham are after Bentley!!
mode_m Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Step 1 - Call Diego Forlan, tell him you want to sign him to play up front with Raul. Step 2 - Call Raul, tell him you want to sign him to play up front with Diego Forlan. Step 3 - Book them both on flights to land in Manchester at the same time. Step 4 - Sign them both. Step 5 - Win League. Piece of ######. Added two more steps. Step 6 - ? Step 7 - Profit I think this could create a dynasty for Rovers. But in all seriousness these transfer rumours are killing me, yet I cannot stop reading them every single day. Raul, Forlan, J.Jones would be three big signings and might be enough to keep Samba with the club.
alexanders Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Who is link about? Can't open it at work seeing its a ladbrokes site. Looking to world cup winner
LeChuck Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Leeds are after Santa Cruz and Fulham are after Bentley!! Surely we can steal a march on those two? Santa Cruz and Bentley were brilliant with each other when they were here.
chocky Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Who is link about? Can't open it at work seeing its a ladbrokes site. Looking to world cup winner Blackburn Rovers will attempt to boost their hopes of Premier League survival by signing former Italy international Vincenzo Iaquinta from Juventus.
gazsimm Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Surely we can steal a march on those two? Santa Cruz and Bentley were brilliant with each other when they were here. i hope we could. I think Bentley out on the Right and Junior either on the Left or just off Santa would improve out team greatly!!!
Iceman Posted August 17, 2011 Author Posted August 17, 2011 Blackburn Rovers will attempt to boost their hopes of Premier League survival by signing former Italy international Vincenzo Iaquinta from Juventus. i know our squad needs some reinforcements, and i know we not going to set the premier league alight, and i know we dont have the brightest of managers or owners, BUT already looking to boost our survival after 1 game?
joey_big_nose Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 i hope we could. I think Bentley out on the Right and Junior either on the Left or just off Santa would improve out team greatly!!! Just can’t see the point in Bentley. We have lots of exciting attacking midfielders. What we lack are strikers, central defensive midfielders and central defenders. I would see it as negligent if we blew our money on a player we simply do not need as much as in other areas.
Lancs Rover Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Gary's house is Turton (Bolton) way, it's the one with a liverpool scarf under his pool LOL I believe one of the Brothers has paid for it out of their own cash, as their landing pad when they are in the UK It's an impressive joint, he had lots of fights with Architects, contractors, suppliers, the Local Authority Planners and Building Control guys over the years. And yes, another poster pointed to the Tellytubbies planning debacle that he lost on, so he threw Teddy out and sold out, he would have lost money on it, he sunk billy big bucks into it. Sure he's not skint though... ?
Guest ljb Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I still don't think anyone's said the lads name! You all got the wrong ones! what you on about whos name, is it a defender and how close to signing, i take its ether a free or a loan deal
LeChuck Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 Just can’t see the point in Bentley. We have lots of exciting attacking midfielders. We don't have very good wide players at all. Hoilett is the only one, but even he's not terribly good at providing for others, he's better at creating things for himself. Rochina is a good talent but very, very raw. We're in trouble if he's first choice as we have no idea what he'd perform like over a period of time. Emerton has been ###### on the wing for 7 years now, I wouldn't expect that to change. Good squad player but we're in trouble if he's first choice. Olsson and Formica can play there but will be starting in other positions. Olsson is a woeful crosser of the ball anyway, and Formica doesn't really seem to play like a winger. So that's only Hoilett, Emerton and Rochina really. I wouldn't like to be a striker expecting service from those. Bentley scores goals and provides assists, only Hoilett can match him really. Think of it as a Diouf replacement. We've been linked to several wingers over the window, with the Vieirinha interest appearing very real, so he must be thinking the same.
Steve Moss Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 i know our squad needs some reinforcements, and i know we not going to set the premier league alight, and i know we dont have the brightest of managers or owners, BUT already looking to boost our survival after 1 game? We lost, at home to a below average team. So yes, looking to boost our chances of survival is appropriate because we won't as things currently stand.
A cup of beans Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I still don't think anyone's said the lads name! You all got the wrong ones! the FC DALLAS player.. is that who you refer too ?? well not many left.. Ugo Ihemelu ? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ugo_Ihemelu i question whether any of the players linked (from FC DALLAS) would get a work permit.
AmazinTim Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 As far as the Dallas boy, I'm thinking it could be Brek Shea. He's had a massive season with Dallas this year and I'd heard some English clubs were interested. At 6'3" he's a giant, and boasts a shocking pace, I mean, really really fast for a player of his size. He can play in the midfield, anywhere on the back line, or even, to a lesser effect, as a striker. He's one of the top scorers in the league this season as a winger, and was just capped against Mexico where he came on as a sub and set up the equalizing goal. That's my guess based on the fact that it's an FC Dallas player (from Dallas) who hasn't been named yet. Would be a good young signing, loads of talent and physical attributes to boot. As far as Bocanegra, he'd be good. Right price, good head on him, lacks pace at times but is versatile in that he can play CB or LB. He's also captained the national team for years now. He's basically be another Givet but with loads of international experience.

What we lack are strikers, central defensive midfielders and central defenders. I would see it as negligent if we blew our money on a player we simply do not need as much as in other areas. i think Bentley would be a very good addition to our team on the basis he can supply the forwards with decent crosses (Perfect for a guy like Santa) and is good on set pieces. The only other player we have in our team, who is capable of providing the front men with decent crosses is Gamst and he only does that in about 2 or 3 games a season. Formica, Dunn, Junior Rochina are all good going forward, but lack putting final balls into the box, which Bentley is well known for. I also think Defensive Midfield is not an urgent area we need to fill we have got N'Zonzi, Petrovic, Grella and even Emerton capable to fill that role

rog of the rovers Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I hope its Brek Shea, looks like a real talent, saw a few clips of him before the MLS All Star Game and he looked very impressive.
AJW Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 cant believe that a couple of months ago James Collins was a bad player and now Carlos Bocanegra is a good player !!! WTF ??
Bob Dewhurst Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 I hope its Brek Shea, looks like a real talent, saw a few clips of him before the MLS All Star Game and he looked very impressive. If we do get him, I hope he's not injured and that he's ready Brek
A cup of beans Posted August 17, 2011 Posted August 17, 2011 i hope we could. I think Bentley out on the Right and Junior either on the Left or just off Santa would improve out team greatly!!! as ive said recently.. im not sure where bentley would fit in they both have not been on top form since they left rovers, for pastures new. AND Judging by both players performances last year.. id stay clear of both.
