Gumbi Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 We just CAN'T go on to sign an injured striker with unproven record (yes I know he was great a few years ago, but not that good lately), and have only roberts and goodie as main strikers untill Ibisevic is ready. That would be disaster if you ask me. Get on Defoe/Pav/Crouch or something. Need someone with PL experience too. The chances of us moving for one of them 3 is very low. If we do then Spurs will almost certainly want Samba as part of the deal.

donegalrover Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 There have been no fresh bids for Samba (as of this morning) and he is fighting to be fit fit for Saturday. good to hear i have a gut feeling that he'll still be here come sept 1st fingers crossed anyway
farhanology Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Anything in this supposed interest in Ki Seungyung? http://www.blackburnrovers-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/lennon__ki_not_for_sale_695065/index.shtml
Kamy100 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Ibicevic is a strange one with him being injured, especially with previous serious injuries in the past, He is a player I have been aware of for some time, and I am a little confused, We are definately in the market for him, But we are also in the market for another striker of similar value, I'm struggling to work out which one of these two strikers is the back up option, because I was lead to believe Ibicevic was an alternative. Trying to get to the bottom of it, but strangely getting mixed messages Glen, am told Ibisevic is first choice, other guy is backup. Agree strange decision as Ibisevic is injured and is not prolific.
True Blue & White Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I don't get why Samba would want to move to Spurs anyway. Ok so they are a 'bigger' club and are based in London, whopee do. Arsenal I could understand with them being in the CL but Spurs are on the slide, I expect them to finish 6th at best (8th at worst) this season, go out of the Europa League before the semis and the slide will deepen. Harry will leave to join up with England and Spurs will once again be a mid-table team. They won't get back into the CL in the next 10 years IMO.
jny Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Anything in this supposed interest in Ki Seungyung? http://www.blackburn...065/index.shtml Probably just the usual rumours, and unlikely to happen if we sign Vukcevic, really need a striker!!
rovers_rob Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I am slightly confused. So we are on the verge of signing Vukcevic, a young defender from FC Dallas and a striker that is injured (Ibisevic) ? Is this correct or are we after another striker as well as these ?
LeChuck Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 George John is at medical stage. Ibisevic nearly at medical stage, although he is injured at the moment. So the picture is becoming very clear now, so it seems. Nedum Onuoha, George John, Simon Vukcevic, Vedad Ibisevic. I'd be very pleased with that to be honest. If George John is capable in the defensive midfield role then it could fill all the holes in our squad. Goalkeepers: Robinson, Bunn, Kean Defenders: Salgado, Ribeiro, Onuoha, Samba, Nelsen, Hanley, Givet, Olsson Defensive Midfielders: N'Zonzi, Petrovic, Grella, John Attacking Midfielders: Emerton, Hoilett, Formica, Rochina, Dunn, Pedersen, Vuckevic Forwards: Ibisevic, Roberts, Goodwillie, Blackman I don't think we'll get Onuoha actually, but it appears it will be a young loan whoever we get.
Makey11 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 There is another striker who plays in holland who's linked, but I won't go into details as it's early days and venkys don't want him as he was first suggested by mr Anderson! And they don't want anything to do with anyone he suggests after he took the ###### really with there lack of knowledge of the game......
hawkiiz Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Someone RT'd ITK's tweet regarding QPR, which says they'll sign three before the end, and one will be either Pav or Crouch. That was me That's why I wanted us to go in. Looks like QPR have proven, good quality targets. We have good quality targets, but unproven in Prem.

rovers_rob Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Forwards: Ibisevic, Roberts, Goodwillie, Blackman That is worrying list of strikers especially if one of them isn't going to be fit until October. It just doesn't make sense.
AJW Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Kamy/Glenn/Makey do you know what the fee's are for Ibisevic and George John ?
Ricky Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Glen, am told Ibisevic is first choice, other guy is backup. Agree strange decision as Ibisevic is injured and is not prolific. Kamy I don't know about him not being prolific. We all wanted Demba Ba who scored 37 in 97 for Hoffenheim, well this lad has 43 in 113 for the same team over the same period. A very similar ratio so certainly not a bad signing, agreed with the concerns over signing an injured player though. Makey seems to be on the ball.
LeftWinger Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 That is worrying list of strikers especially if one of them isn't going to be fit until October. It just doesn't make sense. Even more so if one of the others end up in prison - and the other two are Roberts and Blackman!
cn_barlow Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 You are extremely well informed!! So the Venky's/Jerome Anderson love in is over?
Makey11 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 You are extremely well informed!! I'm guessing that's the other guy your on about.... I don't like to mention players on here unless there looking likely as itl probs look Like I'm making stuff up!! As I'm sure you know yourself..... There have been hundreds of others linked that came to nothing!!!
LeChuck Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 That is worrying list of strikers especially if one of them isn't going to be fit until October. It just doesn't make sense. What's the point in having Roberts and Goodwillie if they're not good enough to play? I'd be happy if we could replace Blackman as fourth choice, but only after the other positions have been filled.
Saviola786 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 sign papiss cisse and job done as far as im concerned 1 quality striker is better than 2 ordinary and crocked ones
True Blue & White Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 A very similar ratio so certainly not a bad signing, agreed with the concerns over signing an injured player though. It worked out for Villa and Downing alright, that guy did his medical on crutches.
Backroom DE. Posted August 18, 2011 Backroom Posted August 18, 2011 Seems we're going to be relying on our midfielders to be chipping in with quite a few goals this season!

Are you joking, I'd walk out on Blackburn in a second for Spurs, even if I supported and played for Blackburn Rovers, ambition is more important, I'd have no loyalty to fans. He is 27, Spurs will achieve alot more then we will in the next 3-4 years. We are signing fairly unknown players trying to build a team on the cheap, Spurs have much better players and spent hundreds of millions. Rooney made a big decision leaving Everton, but ambition rules and he has enjoyed crazy success.
Miker Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Is it a concern that we're not signing any English players? Are we fulfilling our homegrown players criteria with this current squad?

They live in their own little world when it comes to transfers.
