Gumbi Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Just scrolled back in the pages but couldn't find the post about QPR manager Warnock having british targets. I think this shows the difference - experienced manager Warnock wants to bring in proven players - who will affect the side on the field. Keen targets players who aren't proven in the Premiership - now don't get me wrong just cause they haven't played here doesn't mean they wont make an impact but you can certainly see why Warnock has been in a job for years. I dont see Keen staying in a job for as long as him. Warnock will probably end up playing twice as much for someone who is of less quality though.

donnermeat Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Home grown 8 from England of which 4 trained at the club isn't it? If so: Club = Olsson, Hanley, Dunn, Hoillet. England other = Robinson, Bunn, Roberts, Blackman. Has Hanley been in England for 3yrs yet? If not then another young reserve can make up the place. Also if the player is 21 or under (of any nationality) he doesn't have to be registered. So you can have 6 or 7 players home grown players, as long as you only register 23 or 24 players and so on. If that makes sense.
bob fleming Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Seen him play? Highly unlikely. Has anyone?

Lets give him the benefit of the doubt as it seems whatever he does he is in the wrong. I wouldn't want Warnock anywhere near my club.
mode_m Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 sign papiss cisse and job done as far as im concerned 1 quality striker is better than 2 ordinary and crocked ones How much would Cisse cost? Looking at his stats he seems to be a top striker with 30 goals in 40 appearances for Freiburg; 10 to 15 million pounds?
braddock Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 We need 2 strikers in case Badcock gets sent down. I was cleared of all... oh.

It wasnt JUST the fee that was the issue , when you had up the agents fee's and salary you are talking about a £30m punt on a player ... he may well go on to be a fantastic striker but i don't think we are financially capable to take that risk .... nor should we
philipl Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Warnock after 5 for £10m for those wondering what he is planning to do with his sudden windfall.
JonnyH Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 We need 2 strikers in case Badcock gets sent down. I take it you're referring to the assault charge in Glasgow City Centre rather than the civil case re: the other job.
donnermeat Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 I was thinking if we might be interested in El Hamdaoui (196 apps - 101 goals, all apps) or Ola Toivonen (75 apps since 2009 - 34 goals) Both with 1 in 2 goal ratios. I'm sure we nearly signed El Hamdaoui at one point, years ago before he went to Spurs. We had him on trial I think. Wouldn't mind him at all he looks useful. Can't say I've seen this Ibisevic play but I'm optimistic.

glen9mullan Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Aye. We had Peter Odemwingie on trial too, could've signed him for pittance. Turned that one down as well. We also turned down Valencia before he went WIgan :-( That would of been a nice signing back then
imy9 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Glen which player do you think will be signed for Saturdays game?
stu07 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Aye. We had Peter Odemwingie on trial too, could've signed him for pittance. Turned that one down as well. I recall this one, we definately could have signed him and he was keen to come as well. We've had some great managers havent we
neophox Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Sign Anelka up, he won't be playing much this term with Drogba, Torres, Kalou and Lukaku preferred... he would be a great signing for rovers...he was very good at Bolton.
donnermeat Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Aye. We had Peter Odemwingie on trial too, could've signed him for pittance. We also turned down Valencia before he went WIgan Bloody hell that would have been alright. Strange how things can turn out in football.
daveoftherovers Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Bloody hell that would have been alright. Strange how things can turn out in football. I'll be honest, I'm shocked and pretty gutted that we looked at these 2 and passed them over, especially when you look at some of the calls we made instead, I know trials aren't scientific, but surely we can improve? p.s. Quite happy about our business picking up, slight concern on the lack of proven striker, but, one step at a time. (Got to have better options available than we had for the Wolves game, that was pretty grim.)

daveoftherovers Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 It is permanent. Wow! That's great news isn't it? I'm surprised anyway LOL Jason Roberts has just tweeted: Big Rado looked good in training today.. The Boys are onto the fact he looks a little bit like Ralf Little! Hopefully more to come!! Sounds promising!
stu07 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 It is permanent. That is good news - new Bentley down at Ewood. Cheers Makey. So thats 2 defenders due - hopefully Onouha and the american lad. Vukcevic and Cleverley for midfield and a striker i.e. Ibisevic Think we need another striker but would have definately taken this yesterday.
