stu07 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 This confirms the John deal: http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsoccer/mls/story/george-john-transfer-bid-blackburn-rovers-major-league-soccer-fc-dallas-081811 Lets hope its as far along as Keen says it is and nobody else puts in a late bid.
AmazinTim Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 If that's what it takes...don't moan. Can't exactly drive there either can he...Atlantic ocean for God's sake! My thoughts exactly. We are hard on Kean a lot, and often for good reason, but if he needs to take a flight to Toronto to get our best young talent signed long term, then that's the sign of a committed manager who wants the best for the club. It's also a display of dedication and serious commitment to Hoilett Sr, shows the manager is serious about plans for his son. I have no problem with this.
Torgeir Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 problem with goin for Lansbury, they might demand Samba as part of the deal They're not in a position to demand that. Samba has five years left of his contract while Lansbury's runs out next summer. Samba is also worth far more.
Stockport rover Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 On a pay computer abroad, can anyone quickly sum up this weeks transfer activity (new rumours/ bids) please, would be much appreciated!

Foxsoccer's TV channel is great, some of their website writers are utter crap (coughcough Jamie Tracker coughcough). Ives Galaracep, is the exception. He writes good articles, offers good insight, and knows American players better than most. Glad to see he is the one offering credibility to the move in the press, not one of their hacks.
tony gale's mic Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Seriously? Even in what could be the best news of summer people still find something to throw at Kean I'm pretty sure that wasn't meant as a dig at Kean.
Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Can someone summarize where we are with possible signings at the moment? Thanks! Vukcivic Attacking mid - here for medical TODAY, £2m George John Defender/ def mid- on his way for medical Ibisevic Striker - expected for medical soon Lansbury Midfielder - rumoured permanent move Marc Wilson/ Boyatta/ Onouha Defenders - possible loan deal Raul - Schalke playing games with media, saying he rejected us, when in fact they rejected the enquiry.
daveoftherovers Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Does this mean Venky's and Rovers have finally got their act together on this acquiring business? It's nice to see us announcing things when people have landed instead of having shopping lists in the press. Fair play if they have.
tony gale's mic Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 It would be permanent from what I was told. And here is why - just need to be careful with Arsenal's sell-on clauses. Out of Contract next summer Seems to have a good attitude too - prepared to leave the big club in order to get first team football. Mind you, I seem to remember someone else adopting a similar line too...
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Iaquinta officially out for 40 days. You can scrub that one off the list.
tony gale's mic Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Vukicevic, Ibisevic, Lansbury and Onouha would do me very well. George John hasn't had any international experience even, so while I wouldn't mind us signing him for a small fee I wouldn't really have an opinion on that one.
Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Seems to have a good attitude too - prepared to leave the big club in order to get first team football. Mind you, I seem to remember someone else adopting a similar line too... Well if we follow a similar model, only this time without a sell-on clause then most should have no problem with that. Sign for a couple of million, sell for £17m+....however ideally he would stay. Also good to have abit of homegrown talent in there
tchocky Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 So is this right? Henri Lansbury Simon Vuckevic(imminent) Geogre John(imminent) Nenhum Onouha Vevad Ibisevic Hoilett new deal + one other loanee? delirious if this happens. Seems about right. Possibly also Iaquinta. I'd also be very happy if those came off, but it is a very big IF at the moment. Delirious only if all those and a big name striker joined. On a pay computer abroad, can anyone quickly sum up this weeks transfer activity (new rumours/ bids) please, would be much appreciated! See quoted post above, plus the transfer links thread pretty much covers the targets.
he6rt6gr6m Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 problem with goin for Lansbury, they might demand Samba as part of the deal How? Lansbury's been valued at, what, £2m? Unless Arsenal say "we'll only let him go with £10m for Samba", that won't happen.

canuckroversfan Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Really curious to see the price of these players seems like buy low, see how they play and there can be a potential to sell high?
donnermeat Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 What a crafty git he is, had he told me the other night id have asked him to bring me back some Tabacco for my dad!! How and where did you meet him Hughesy? Was it at the awards evening? Sorry if this is off topic just been wondering that's all.
stu07 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Vukicevic, Ibisevic, Lansbury and Onouha would do me very well. George John hasn't had any international experience even, so while I wouldn't mind us signing him for a small fee I wouldn't really have an opinion on that one. I think we will pay 2/3 million for him. Someone said earlier after looking at his stats this season he's been the 3rd best performer in the league behind Henry and Donovan I aren't sure if that makes him a great player because I dont follow the MLS but I have heard it's improved a great deal and if he's been one of the best performers it stands to reason we wont get him on the cheap.
Hughesy Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 How and where did you meet him Hughesy? Was it at the awards evening? Sorry if this is off topic just been wondering that's all. Yes mate - awards do, he said Dallas defender, Lansbury & a striker.
Backroom Tom Posted August 18, 2011 Backroom Posted August 18, 2011 How and where did you meet him Hughesy? Was it at the awards evening? Sorry if this is off topic just been wondering that's all. Hughesy met Kean? I didn't know, he should have mentioned it!
donnermeat Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Is the fact all this transfer activity is happening down to Simon Hunt? Because I'm just glad we have got off our behind and started moving. Instead of making the dreaded lists.
daveoftherovers Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 No Dann for Brum tonight (Shocker) So that's him going to France then? So Samba to Spuds or he stays? p.s. Will Kalinic score against Fulham tonight?

Well, had we signed Nelsen for £3 million it still wouldve been a bargain so we'll have to wait and see I guess..
stu07 Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 With regards to the idiots at Schalke they got their A$$es kicked tonight. 2 nil against HJK Helsinki. Maybe Raul should consider leaving Well, had we signed Nelsen for £3 million it still wouldve been a bargain so we'll have to wait and see I guess.. Agreed, you would have to say him and Friedel were two best bargain's in our history and got be 2 of the best signings in the history of the premier league. Both great servants.
