Apparently a fake Guillem Balague posted it n twitter and some folk have taken it as gospel.

Andy Cryer posted on twitter that Kean dismissed the rumour that we had bid for Gibson by saying he wasn't one of the 4 active bids we had in.

I'd certainly wouldn't want us to pay £6m for him that's for sure!

This is one for the know nothing contribute nothing thickos to get their -1 fingers clicking on.

Thought about saying " 1 finger to you too"..but that would be contributing nothing positive to the debate would it?

Who said it was famous? I just remember it because it was Chris Sutton taking an early seat

I'm awfully sorry, I must have miss-read you yet again. Sorry, it wasn't famous at all, just memorable 19 years later.

Anyway. We digress. Back to the insults / transfer thread.

It is great that we have gone from nowhere to having a number of potential acquisitions in progress. But I would warn that we are looking at sometime before all these players will be capable of appearing in Rovers' shirts playing a full 90 minutes and that there has to be the possibility that one or more will wriggle off the hook before we can land them, not least because of the wildly inexperienced team working on the transfers.

It remains the fact that 17 players have left with three more- Grella, Samba and Givet- at risk of going. Two first team contenders have been signed, two bench warmers (if that) have signed, three players not in contention last season- Formica, Rochina and Hanley- have come into contention this season and it looks like we are chasing between four and six more signings.

Add all that together and we are till down on numbers numerically and have to pray deeply that

- we have a good season for few injuries and suspensions

- and that we have an unusually high success rate in bringing players in from outside the PL who find their feet Quickly in our league.

Yes the situation looks brighter than it did on Monday but we have gone from total no hopers to hoping.

I wouldn't get carried away with the idea we are going to have a great season just because we are going to see some new faces. We are also still crippled by having a manager who has proven himself to be as far out of his depth as Ince was.

17 players down from last season include the likes of Rigters, Zurab, Fielding, Doran- thats FOUR players nowhere near a SQUAD place let alone first 11 place!

IF the players we are mooted to sign do sign then we WILL be stronger than last season, QUALITY over quantity any day.

After what you said Phillip I am shocked that we beat premier league teams to the signature of Vukcevic.

The backroom staff are getting stronger, I am still looking forward to seeing another senior figure at Ewood (mentioned by John), this coupled with the signings and Venkys purchasing a home in the UK may finally show people that Venkys are beginning to learn from their mistakes...now Venkys about Steve Kean...

Ok here we go, how? How on earth have we actually lost 17 players? How have you come to that reasoning whereby you feel we have lost 17 players who were worthy of a first team squad place. Look at the squad, goalkeepers were fine,

Defenders we have Salgado, Samba, Nelsen, Givet, Hanley, Olsson, Ribeiro and two proabable new defenders. 9 defenders is more than enough. Tick that box

Midfielders we have Hoilett, N'Zonzi, Emerton, Pedersen, Dunn, Petrovic, Grella, pending arrival of Vukcevic and Lansbury?. 8/9 midfielders, tick

Strikers - Roberts, Goodwillie, Rochina, Blackman (seems like he is being given a chance, dont agree but willing to give the lad a chance), pending arrival of new striker. 5 strikers, tick.

So no, I dont agree when you we say we need to avoid injuries and suspensions, although yes it would be nice to stay injury free I don't see why we wont have the squad cover come the end of the transfer window.

I'm sure Cryers is a valid source, but its clear that Venkys told him many times we had no interest in Raul and that was not true.

If the Gibson story is correct then I would expect the truth to come from Man U and Cryers would only find out at a late stage.

Cryers is being used a little by Venkys/Rovers but its in the best interest of everyone, we really don't need to know about potneital signings until they have developed.

6 million is too much but I like the player, Tugay, Scoles like goals, goals you'd pay to see.

how much per goal then?

I'd say 10k per week base, £100,000 for goals 0-10 and £125,000 for goals 10-20 and £150,000 for goals above 20. That way if we had a 10 goal a season striker he'd be on the equivalent of 30k a week (average PL wage for an average striker), whereas if he scored 20 goals in the season he'd be on about £54,000 a week.

Dear oh dear Philip, not the best way to start endearing yourself or your opinions with that first line.

However, I endorse your comments about a weakened squad. If we do manage to fill a couple of key positions with some quality (striker, centre-back) then we can potentially see a stronger first team but still a weaker squad. IOf the players coming in are fitter and less prone to injuris I don't necessarilly see that as a disaster as some of our younger players will have a chance. There isn't much point of a youth policy if there are a pile of mediocre crocks stoppiong them getting a place.

On Kean? Well I don't agree with your comparison to Ince, that doesn't mean I think he is the best manager for us either but if we have to keep him for now to give us a chance of signing players with just a few days left then we should. If the players perform in the next few games and we gather some valuable points then he stays, if not .......

Good question had not thought of how much to be honest. But say 20K per goal, of course he is probably still on his crazy Citeh contract and will take that till it runs out.salery of

haha the Venkys will like you very much.

So basically if RSC scored 20 goals over a season he would get £400,000 where as Roberts would earn 1.5 million per year (based on a salary of 28k)and probably score 4 or 5.

100k per goal would be a good deal for us still.

EDIT: or TGM's plan is better.

Will add to the Gibson theory,

There WAS an approach around 6 weeks ago agreeing to match Sunderlands bid, but with a loan first, we also agreed to match his wage demands which Sunderland did not,

We was then expected to have him in to do a deal and left him hanging around the Trafford Centre waiting for a phone call that never came. I suspect dependant on who leaves and who arrives we may just try to get him on loan at the end of the window.

Also the Givet rumour may also have legs, as Givet had a massive bust up with Dunn during the Kilmarnock game which resulted in Givet demanding to be substituted, Rovers reasons for Givet not playing are highly debatable

Here Here Cryer is completely on the sidelines and only tows Rovers line. Hence when he ask about the money issues they say what money issues and he prints nothing.
