We wont get anywhere near that amount of support in India (or anywhere else outside UK for that matter). In HK Rovers fans were outnumbered by 'Chelsea' fans by at least 100 to 1 - probably more, and this is in a country which really likes its football. India don't really care that much, and those that do will go towards the teams that win things. It's an easy thing to say numbers like 1% of the populatio = £XX but in reality that doesn't really work.

Do we even sell 12,000 shirts in the UK, I bet we don't.

Yes but football is getting more fans in india its an up and coming market. I know its easy to say but its not just shirt sales that was just an example even 0.1% of 1.2billion people is alot. I think the academy could be useful in india aswell. And when you hear people saying we shouldnt have an academy over there its just rubbish. If we ever get an indian player which they are planning on he will earn the club alot of money and i hope we can find some talent in india cus we are the first team to put an academy out there.

You are stating the bleeding obvious clare, but some of the see no evil, hear no evil brigade will think we are still on course to be 'India's club'. <_<

The part that has me laughing is that some think people in India have £50.00 to spend on a rovers shirt, especially since the average national monthly wage is about $150.

Yes, and if you are on Jobseekers Allowance you might struggle as well. It shows a surprising ignorance of statistics when the average national monthly wage is extrapolated to say that everyone earns the same. There are millions of Indians who have sufficient disposable income to spend on leisure, whether it is the Rovers or not is a different matter.

India is a huge market, if you are laughing I suggest it is in ignorance rather than knowledge.

Spot on!

The world will only come out of the recession when the BRIC countries sort it all out for us, don't forget, those countries took the jobs we didn't want a long time ago, and then they developed accordingly, huge numbers of those countries now have significant disposable incomes that most of us would be envious of. Just check out the money involved in the IPL and look how much of the planet China and Brazil now owns.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is clearly stuck in the past!

Don't judge a book by it's cover.

Back to transfers.. there were apparently more than one medical on friday. who were they?

we need a defender and a quality striker at least. would be nice to get an attacking winger and 2 loans one center mid and either an extra defender or striker. A lot depends on the futures of givet and samba. We really need sambas leadership at the moment. we need experienced players who can lead. Somone with the passion and never say die of jermain jones with a bit more technical ability would be fantastic

It's still a bloody poor country though.

Interspersed between the blue chip companies are people living in tents with no shoes.

Regarding the two expected striker arrivals it is not too shabby if we can get Ibisevic (and RSC on loan). Was it the case we wanted experinece and youth? (Raul + Matavz) The latest Schalke news has probably quelled all expectations for a Raul move, so getting Matavz might not be so wise.

so the final jigsaw is to identify the #2 striker that is supposed to be brought in on loan - no ideas on whom though.

This week is deadly important for us now!

Need to get the signings that we need in place before it is too late and we MUST win against Everton!

I Just hope we find some players who want to play for us, and then our medical staff get their fingers out before the window close.
