Absolutely staggered at the perception that our new owners are spending money.

Transfer fees in = c£23m. Fees out =c£5m.

Kean tells us that some 12 players have gone whilst only 3 in. Must be a MASSIVE saving on wages.

Some people on this MB need to wake-up, get real and smell the coffee !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!

If nothing else some reduction in the wage bill has been needed for some time.

You never know we may get quality at a decent price rather that ###### and pay through the nose. Make a change won't it.

Hughesy, why is Ibsevic such a good buy,3seasons ago he had a brilliant half season(18 goals in 17 matches)then serious ligament injury kept him out for rest of season.next season on his return 12goals in over 30matches,last season 8 goals in 29 matches in the German league. On paper that is a poor to average return for a top? striker, perhaps i am missing something, but it dosn't sound good value for money to me,especilly for an injured player.Stear well clear Rovers.

Yet in his poorest recent season, he scored more goals than our top scorer did last season.

IMO, the only people who say he won't be a good buy are people who have not seen him play. As long as we sign another striker to keep us going until he is fit, whether it's Bellamy on loan etc, then I think this is a very good transfer for Rovers. I would rather have Tim Matavž, but that probably won't happen due to his team wanting a high fee.

Did Ruud Van Nistlehorse not do his cruciate in before Utd were about to sign him? And look how he turned out for them!!

I'm going to take a bit of a flier here, however, heard tonight that any remaining signings this window (including those ongoing) will need to be balanced-off by a sale or sales. We will know in 10 days whether this is accurate or not.

Chaddy - wtf don't you get a life instead of posting a minus against any post I make. When do your school holidays finish ?

Mercerman..you really do come across as a very angry man.

Personally, I'm hopeful that we may have 3-4 new arrivals in this week. Arrivals we badly need.

It's almost 3 years since his injury and not returned to top form, Rovers are not, it would appear, in a financial position to take gambles on players, who are not fully fit, and ready to perform.Unless Venky's suddenly come up with surplus funds, which i hope for, but doubt, every signing we make on a limited budjet,as got to hit the groud running and perform well.If Ibisevic is as good as you say he may be one for January

Rovers are also not in a position to splash out Twenty million (which would still be a gamble and an even bigger one considering the money spent) so there are three sensible options. Buy young, with potential and cheap, buy slightly over the hill but former world beaters, buy decent players who've lost form for whatever reason. There is no fourth option for Rovers at this moment in time unless Venkys win the Euro Billions so we have to hope the players they bring in improve the squad.

Some truth in what your saying about Ibisevic but the fact we're trying to sign an injured striker smacks of desperation.

Well we already know that Venky's won't be throwing money at the club, they will only get players on the cheap. So if they can sign a potentially 10+ goal a season striker for 3-4mil, despite the injury, then I say go for it. We have to remember that good strikers don't come cheap. Kalinic cost 6 million and he wasn't exactly "ready to play". Neither was Formica or Rochina for that matter.

I think at the moment, attacking wise we actually have some creative and pacy players in the squad and would be ok if we only signed Ibisevic. It's defensively that we're a shambles.

Unless those arrivals are a Central Defender and Striker ready to play and hit the ground running, they wont do us any good, we are short of a Centre back capable of organising the back four and a striker who can score goals now, potential is not good enough here, its needed now.

Then we need to rid ourselves of the clown who is masquerading as manager of our football club, install a well respected player as a temporary manager and bring in a top coach as his assistant to get us through at least until January, this may give us a chance, anything less than 6 points from our next three games and we will start to get adrift of the other teams (ala West Ham last season)and with Octobers fixtures, even that may not be good enough!!

'Install a well respected player as a temporary manager'. How on earth is that going to help matters? We just lost to Villa away from home (didn't see the Wolves game on account of being on Holiday) and got a little unlucky in my view. How is ridding our manager, to replace them with an unknown, to then replace them in January, going to help? Give the man a few more games. I'm not a Kean ball licker but believe he could do a decent job. Similarly, he could do a poor job. Even if it's the latter, your suggestion ain't going to help.

I think our efforts to sign Ibisevic shows how difficult it is to find good mid-range strikers within our budget. Look at how much we got for Kalinic after he hadn't delivered the goods for a couple of seasons. My main concern with Ibisevic is that we're signing an injured player, and before we know it we'll be well behind chasing the pack. I doubt he'll be our Messiah but I believe he'll score 8-15 goals during a season if fit. Hopefully that'll be enough.

Why we're not looking at someone fit and with a good record I don't understand though, unless we're spending that money on a different position. After all the outgoings Mercerman does repeat a point in that the owners need to stick to their word and spend what they promised in the beginning of the window.

This week is imperative for our PL status, I hope we get some early good news about Hoillet's contract.

The fans really need a boost, and that can be achieved today!

I just hope the club can confirm Hoilett signing a new long term deal and Simon Vukcevic joining, spirits would be lifted.

We have been patient long enough, we need something to get excited about.

Massive week/10 days for the club.

 Dream scenario (which realistically could happen)

22/8 - Hoilett signs new deal, Vukcevic joins from Sporting

23/8 - Givet/Samba train

24/8 - Rovers beat Sheff Weds with Givet and Nelsen getting game time and a goal (or two) for Goodwillie

25/8 - Samba declared fit to play at weekend

26/8 - Jagielka and Cahill ruled out for Everton

27/8 - Rovers beat Everton

28/8 - Rest

29/8 - Bank holiday

30/8 - Ibisevic joins from Hoffenheim, John joins from Dallas

31/8 - Lansbury joins from Arsenal, Wilson and Onuoha join on season long loans with view to permanent deal. Arsenal make deadline day moves for Dann and Cahill

1/9 - Samba stays and commits future to Rovers until end of season.

He's expensive but i think we need Cisse, he wants a move to England as well.

What about the striker ready to come in that can hit the ground running? Because that sure as hell isn't Ibisevic.

Also, can't we only have 2 loans from PL teams? Unless your suggesting that Lansbury joins on a permanent deal.

I think these three we are linked with in the LET will be the only ones coming in. I have zero faith we will sign the players we desperately need (proven striker, defender).

There are plenty of alternatives which would also see us right, such as Bellamy, but Venkys don't like paying players wages so...

20million in, 6 million out ....

As things stand, there right now is no basis for any optimism about the remainder of this window.

Let's just be glad if we get Vukcevic and George in and then pray that nobody gets successful chasing Samba, Hoilett or Olsson.

Ibesebic would be a bonus for later.

Similarly, we risk the entire future of the club by bringing in a manager who we then sack less than six months down the line to replace with someone else.

Plan and a half.

There is no risk involved by sacking Kean and appointing a manager with a decent PL record. Whoever we bring in can not possibly do any worse.

Alan Curbishley would be my first choice.

I have no idea why he's been out of the game so long. He performed a miracle at West Ham to keep them up, winning seven of their last nine games. That was followed by a top ten finish, and he was sacked the season after despite having two wins from the opening three games.

He's a man who can definitely get results with an average set of players, as he also proved at Charlton.
