There is no risk involved by sacking Kean and appointing a manager with a decent PL record. Whoever we bring in can not possibly do any worse.

Alan Curbishley would be my first choice.

I have no idea why he's been out of the game so long. He performed a miracle at West Ham to keep them up, winning seven of their last nine games. That was followed by a top ten finish, and he was sacked the season after despite having two wins from the opening three games.

He's a man who can definitely get results with an average set of players, as he also proved at Charlton.

Knows the game well. Good manager. Just hope he will leave London to come up north.

Resigned.

"The Hammers looked a certainty for relegation when he joined but after a brilliant second half of the season West Ham escaped relegation on the final day of the season with a win over Man United at old Trafford. The following seasons were more difficult for Curbishley as he grew annoyed by the clubs transfer policy and as speculation mounted he resigned his position in September 2008."

Wasn't it all around the time of Kia Joorabchian involvement.

he was never one of my ideal managers in the past but! ...... how times have changed.

As things stand, there right now is no basis for any optimism about the remainder of this window.

Let's just be glad if we get Vukcevic and George in and then pray that nobody gets successful chasing Samba, Hoilett or Olsson.

Ibesebic would be a bonus for later.

Very resigned post there for you Philip.. feel the same way atm there is no real point in talking other signings because I doubt our structure will get them in quick enough.

Can't believe I am saying this about our club but I want a loss on Wednesday (we would benefit from no cup distractions) followed by the quick sacking of Kean the same night.

As it stands I reckon Salgado would actually do a much better job as manager and may just have the contacts to help him with a couple of last minute loanie signings. But the best case scenario if we dump Kean would be to offer Hughes a wedge of cash (2-3m + bonus for position in league for one season would be money very well spent) to join initially for one season plus the remainder of our transfer budget to shop (which is about 8m after the Vuki signing if reports are right).

Now people are talking of Salgado as manager. You lot are ###### mad...I can tell you are because you're agreeing with Phil.

Signing players is a bit of a catch 22 in my eyes. We need players to have any chance of survival, but more players on big wages to take with us to the championship could well be disastrous for the club. I just don't trust Kean to keep us up irrespective of the squad at his disposal. Think there is a good chance we will get relegated even if he signs the players he wants to. He is the biggest problem, not the squad. The really worrying aspect of Saturday was how disinterested the players looked. Absolutely no urgency.

John barnes or Salgado as manager.... They are mad. You couldn't make it up lol.

I never said I wanted barnes to come.

I wouldn't mind Ranieri, but any manager coming in would suley collapse all these so called imminent transfers. And surley there wouldn't be time for a new manager to come in and get his own targets in.

Exactly.

We need the players in first to have any chance. If Kean is sacked (and properly replaced) after the window closes then so be it, but now is not the time to be looking for a manager.

On another note lucas neill has signed for al jazira in the UAE. Thank god people who were saying for him to come back have not got their wish.

Do you not think he is good enough for our star studded defence ?

'Install a well respected player as a temporary manager'. How on earth is that going to help matters? We just lost to Villa away from home (didn't see the Wolves game on account of being on Holiday) and got a little unlucky in my view. How is ridding our manager, to replace them with an unknown, to then replace them in January, going to help? Give the man a few more games. I'm not a Kean ball licker but believe he could do a decent job. Similarly, he could do a poor job. Even if it's the latter, your suggestion ain't going to help.

With the greatest respect for you views, I believe next doors cat could do better than Kean, he is totally clueless and so far up the backsides of the owners, believes he can do as he wants, he's had twenty six games to prove by results, he is the worst manager in Rovers history, he doesnt need time, he needs a brain, all the crap he came out with after the Villa game is from the tongue of someone deluded, wallowing in the chaos he and Venkys have created and still thinking he is a decent manager, a decent manager prepares for the season, Kean has simply been a puppet for Venkys!

Anyone taking over would be an improvement on Kean!

Well I guess the lot of us are going mad.. your saying give Kean a chance while the press, the stats, the majority of the fans and the bookies all point to him doing an awful job. I never said Salgado would be ideal, but I do believe he would at least in a caretaker capacity (the only one at the club currently who could realistically do it) do a better job... he certainly seemed to be living in reality with his post-match comments compared to keans delusional drivel.
