Has everyone forgot the two absolutely vital goals Bret scored for us in the last two games of last season.

Without those two goals were would Rovers be now.

If my auntie had balls she'd my uncle.V United someone else could have finished that easily, it was hardly a belter. And we'd have won regardless at Wolves, so what. He's underperformed for years now, getting rid of him on the wage bill would be good as im sure he'll be on a decent wage.

To be honest we should have just kept him at right back. He looked far better there than any where else he's played. He came to us as a wing back who wanted to play on the wing but never really suited that role.

I'd be tempted to keep him and play him instead of Salgado at the moment.

That's totally unfair, he's been very loyal, willing to play wherever asked and done his best, never complained and has chipped in over the years. Bet you are more of a Benni Mcdonalds fan?

Barring one game he's been useless for us. He's a very poor footballer. Have we ever given a testimonial to a player who contributed less?

I'll ignore your Benni McCarthy question on the basis that it makes no sense and is completely irrelevant.

The fact that Kean has gone to see the player abroad rather than for the player to come here suggest he may be a decent player....Then again Keans.....Kean and he dont have a clue what hes doing half the time!

Cisse- would be good but Too much i suspect.

Raul- Possibility I think the fact he said he'll see his contract out and leave for free maybe just forced Schalke's hand as they need money?apparently!

Guiliano Grazioli....because you never know with Kean!

Bert is that kid at school who had asthma, was a bit crap but tried his heart out on the pitch/schoolyard at dinner. In short, he's just not very good. Was a wing-back when signed and could probably still do that job, does anyone even use wing-backs anymore?

What Emerton is really good at is getting rid of pressure by taking the ball and getting up the wing with it and proving difficult to retain the ball from, a bit like what Diouf was like.

Even you could do the ball retention thing purely because you're such a fatty and nobody would be keen fighting through the flab.

I was going to write something more eloquent, but I decided that it was futile as I'm outnumbered by keyboard warriors that will use their arguing techniques till any opposition simply realises they have better things to do and give up, so I'll be blunt

With fans like ours we quite possibly deserve to go down!

We lambast a player who is talented for going to a better club, yet would switch jobs in an instant for a payrise, then demean the efforts of players that are loyal to the club, perhaps deep down knowing that they are representative of our true level, yet they are unwilling to give them credit - it seems that if a player stays with rovers they are ######, but if they are good enough for rovers then inevitably move to a bigger club (what every other 'normal' person would do in their respective job would do) they are a judas.

The fact is you/we support a smaller club. We are currently better than 72 other league clubs who are dying to be in our position, and we have to fight against the tide to be 17th or above every year. Those teams would kill for a 'limited' player like Pedersen or Emerton, yet we treat them like the old office worker ready for retirement with no real position who is just humoured mainly but often mocked.

A lot of our 'failure' is due to your misplaced expectations and losing sight of why you started following rovers in the first place (certainly those pre-walker generations) - most clubs would take our history and position in a heartbeat - remember that..

This is nothing to do with the argument over Kean or the owners, just my opinion on how some/many of us are showing themselves at the moment

Emerton is one of my favourite players - mainly for the fact he never stops running (yes, that may be something to do with his first touch). The guy has played Right Back, Right Mid, Centre Mid and i'm sure he's filled in at left back and has played on the left once or twice during a game.

If he goes back to Oz, we'll have lost a very good utility player, but someone who's come back from a terrible injury and has scored a couple of vital goals for us last season.

Yes...i have a lot of love for Emo...

The fact that Emerton is anywhere near our first team shows how much neglect the midfield has had over the past 4 or so seasons.

Thanks, but no tears from me

I'm not saying that, just that we give very little acknowledgment to his service, efforts and professionalism for us and treat him as deadwood in the same way as we would Grella et al. Just think he deserves a bit more respect than that

Literally astounded by your clear lack of knowledge if you think emerton is a very poor footballer.

Kean goes abroad at any chance he gets. All that says about him is that he takes any opportunity to get free booze.

When I saw Rovers in Sydney, all the kids were lining up on the sidelines to have the chance to get Emerton's autograph. He's a role model for kids over here and his contributions both on and off the pitch shouldn't be ignored. Emerton has contributed heaps to the team in his many years of service. He had a spell of mediocrity after his injury, but he was getting back to his best at the tail end of last season.

Good post, except the comparison between a normal person moving jobs for a payrise and a footballer doing the same. It would have an huge impact on my life if I made £1.300 a month and then suddenly was offered £2.000 a month at another place, but does it really matter to someone whether they make £60.000 or £80.000 a week? To me that's pure greed.
