To those with the sharp sarcasm regarding Kevin De Bruyne, re read my post it was a question, thanks for clearing it up, the sarcasm however was unessecary.

I hope he does come, who knows if he was in talks with Chelsea maybe its broken down, I am the blind optimist though. Maybe he loves chicken  on the other hand he could be talking to the manchester or liverpool clubs.

while im not the biggest fan of Steve Kean, in fact I wouldn’t mind seeing the back of him, the thing we need to be very careful about is him getting sacked now.

I think let him bring in the players, because in all honesty Vukcevic, Ibisevic, John, Petrovic and if he can somehow bring in a top striker like Cisse, then I think if he doesn’t improve after the Fulham game, then he should be sacked. Looking then at the squad, there is no doubt that the likes of Mark Hughes or Martin O Neill would be able to work with those players.

The one thing people also need to understand, while we are not signing players for top dollar or pounds, the fact of the matter is that funds have been made available, after the frustration with the trust these last few seasons. It is also worth repeating, but those fringe players like Andrews, Zurab, Rigters, Treacy, Brown, etc have all been cleared off the wage bill, a problem we have had for many years. If Kean can ship out E Diouf and Grella, then that is already a + point for him.

The other aspect about Kean, is that many of the youngsters are being given game time. Hoilett's chances were limited under Sam, but since Kean came in, he has done well. If you look at our squad, it still has a mixture of experience and young players, and with the additions of Petrovic and Vuckcevic, more experience have been added.

as I said, im in no way trying to defend Kean or big him up, but the squad looks much better and has been given a much needed make over so to say. The only thing which we all know to be the problem, is that Kean is not a manager, or he struggles to understand his role as manager and how to motivate and make changes when its needed. the game tonight, against Everton and Fulham will go a long way to deciding which direction the club will be heading into. The 1st september judgement, might just start to make sense a bit, and getting the right players in this week, and before the window shuts could be vitally important.

Can't access the link what does it say?

"We're still looking to strengthen at the top of the pitch, to get bodies in to complement the signing of David Goodwillie," said Kean.

"I met a player on Monday, and I'm seeing another striker after being given permission from his club to speak with him.

"We're at it full blast to get bodies in, and to get them in quickly."

Rovers tackle Sheffield Wednesday in the Carling Cup and Kean is looking for a morale-boosting success.

"It's now very important we win this game with Wednesday," he continued.

"It's a competition we want to take seriously, and I think we've enough fit players to put out a strong side that will get us a victory."

If Kean can bring in a decent striker and a defender whilst keeping samba it will represent the best window in years. Hence why he needs to keep his job for the foreseeable. Those calling for his sacking and protesting could potentially damage the most crucial part of the window and hence our season. It's the same people who are knocking bretty boy and these will be the first to complain if their actions lead to no more signings.

I'd have thought so otherwise, it's a very bad case of tapping up.

Or it's a freebie.

Doesn't it say the club have given him permission to speak to him. The other signing could be a free transfer. I do like the urgency though, its whats required with only a week left in the window. If we get 6 lads in it will have been a successful window. You would have to applaud Kean if he gets these cause that will mean 10 in for the window. Get rid of Diouf and Grella. Even if it means shipping them out on loan - no fee just pay their wages.

This post should be pinned to the banner of this board.

Save the childish stuff till after the window.

Emerton is what this club needs now. He has lots of Premier League experience and can play in a number of positions. He gives his all for the team. People saying you can't remember an outstanding game he had, can you name a game he was the worst player on the park?

Time to lay off Emerton me thinks.

Back to transfers in. Need to speed up the process of getting a bid accepted and the player through the door.

Okay then no great game no terrible game either, so what then average at best, we will get nowhere with average

These payers are coming in with or without Kean.

And what makes you so sure of that? Would the invisible man fly out to meet players? Also I've heard that some of our new signings signed because they were impressed with Kean. Also...Why would a player come to a managerless club?

He may genuinely be talking about a 'payer'.

They like to invent things.

I honestly believe once Kean has the potential player in a room he gives an amazing sales pitch and we usually end up with the player.

Me also. And right now it's what we need.

I reckon he has the potential to be a decent manager too, but most disagree with me. Let's not turn this into a debate again though, or at least do it in the Kean thread.

Either way, this transfer window, we need him in for sorting out these transfers.

Don't like the man but would have to agree with this, Kean is showing his commitment to getting these guys in and I would imagine that this would impress the players because it shows that the manager wants you. I think we have to give him till the Fulham game now. I don't think he will win the next 3 games but we need at least 4 and a win tonight for his job to be safe for a while.

Sorry but can we verify who signed with our club because they were impressed with Kean or is it just something you heard? Kean should be focussing on training and coaching the players he has because our record isnt good enough and whatever tactics he is employing aren't working, which isn't a surprise when you read that he only makes them train an hour a day. All very well to go get the players but what happens after that? Someone needs to get them working together well.

"We're still looking to strengthen at the top of the pitch, to get bodies in to complement the signing of David Goodwillie," said Kean.

The plural aspect of his statement interests me - are we looking at bringing in 2 strikers to compliment Goodwillie - hope so, that would be fantastic and much needed.

I agree with some of the p[osters previously, I may be lambasted by some fo you for saying this, but I shall be disappointed if people protest tonight and on Saturday, I understand the frustration as I feel that too, bu tI don`t think protesting will improve anything in the short term

He is bringing in players in a mould that suits the way he wants to play, I am happy to provide a final judgement on Kean if we continue to lose whilst using those new players, therefore if we continue to lose for the next 4 - 5 games without any points, I will also join the bandwagon.

However, I do fear that it has gone too far with a lot of supporters for Kean to ever change their opinion, would be interesting to see their views if Kean manages to turn us in to a top 12 side - would people still find reason to hate him? i think so.

With average players in a squad it means from time to time you can rest players. You cant have a squad of 2 world class players for each position otherwise you get disharmony. Even the big teams have average players like Park and Giggs at United.

I have to go along with some of the comments on here regarding Keane (sorry OT I know but relevant). If the player being mentioned come in then we will have had a very good transfer window and this will very much be 'Keanes team' and I think he needs to be given some time to work with them, if in the next 4 matches we are still losing then he should go. Until then though we need to give him, the new players and the team our full support!

Park and Giggs are "average players" ? I would kill to have either at Ewood, Park is an excellent player and although Giggs is getting on and wouldn't manage to play all the games over a whole season he is still class.

I'm guessing that was a wind up.
