Pretty sure they aim not to have to though, may have been the case years ago but premiership footballers probably aren't intending to be plumbers when they hang their boots up

Why? Are they somehow a breed above the average that they can retire at 30 odd. Wish I could have done.

Park and Giggs are "average players" ? I would kill to have either at Ewood, Park is an excellent player and although Giggs is getting on and wouldn't manage to play all the games over a whole season he is still class.

I'm guessing that was a wind up.

Agreed, both are fantastic players. Got be a wind up or dillusion.

These payers are coming in with or without Kean.

What a load of tosh! How many times as a player signed for a team without a manager? I don't know of many cases where a player would join a team without knowing he's in the managers plans!

Unless you believe that we'd be able to sack Kean, get a new manager in place and be in the position to bid for his targets before the window shuts in 7 days!

Second time in two days. No disrespect to anyone who got it wrong, I'm not insulting you and your points still stand but it's spelt 'deluded' or 'delusion'.

There are two aspects to this situation,

first the signings: the new additions are of a reasonable quality and seem to (on paper) improve the over all quality of the squad (this is provided we do sign at least one decent striker and defender). They wil ned time to settle and it is possible/likely not all will settle.

The second issue is the manager: simply put is he good enough, we all have our opinions on this and right now it is difficult to see him in charge this time next month however there is an arguemant to allow him to get the best out of his signings(if they are being chosen by him).

My opoinion is to get fully behind the entire squad old and new, I don't think any good can come from getting on players backs (That includes Emo who has been a great servent). On the manager I dont know what to say, personally he seems a nice guy who is out of his depth. He may turn into a fantastic manager intime but ROvers is a club, at the moment that can't afford to give him time to learn the ropes.

I have kept the oxners out of this because well there is no understanding them. for every good decision there are two bad however there are signs of them getting their act together and I hope if the time comes when Kean has to go they can make the decisiona dn bring in a suitable replacement.

Now anyone in the "know" have any idea who Mr X is??????????????

Players who want to play in the prem will sign for a club without a manager. Anyway, any new manager coming in, if Kean is sacked, would have to work with what he has. Then in January make changes if needed.

There are already good players at Rovers. They just need to be managed and trained properly. That is not currently happening.

The thing i find tiresome is that Kean has to open his mouth every other day it seems to reassure the fans that we're in for players, we know that, stop treating us like morons. It's ridiculous... Talk about the game, talk football, have some focus! This constant i'm talking to... I'm flying to... we're in for... Smacks of desperation, knowing full well that these issues should of been addressed many weeks or months ago.

It would be nice, for once, for all concerned to shut they're mouths and just deliver.

I think he should be a saleman. When it comes to selling the club to incoming players I have to agree with vintage. I believe he is second to none.

This and similar posts on this page are worrying. How do we know he is a brilliant salesman? We appear to have lost out on more transfers than we have made. Along with many true Rovers supporters, in nine months of Kean and Venkys' rule, I have seen precious little evidence of consistent good management, honest open communication or an ability to steadily build a successful Premier League squad. Our failure to sign 2 quality defenders, despite knowing Jones, Givet, Samba may well be leaving the club is one example of naive, weak management.

This is why I and others are wary and possibly even cynical when we see this type of positive posting. I will be happy and satisfied if we are in the top 11 at the end of the season but the EVIDENCE of the last 9 months shows this is unlikely, therefore all considered, realistic comment on this forum will continue to express genuine concern until we see consistent, robust, forward movement, on and off the pitch.

Kean will then receive credit. He has done little to merit any yet.

Was a little bit tongue-in-cheek. Park is an excellent player. I don't disagree with that. If you have Valencia, Nani and Young in front of him though, Park would be average in comparison. Squad players are vitally important in todays game. No matter what standard you play at you need a squad of players who can do a job for you.

Emerton, Dunn, Roberts and Pedersen are our squad players. We need to be bringing in players of better quality. That is how you improve a team.

EDIT: I would also take Giggs and Park at Rovers. No question on that.

Given the resources available, I'm actually quite impressed by Kean's signings this summer. If we do end up having bought Petrovic, Goodwillie, Ibisevic, John and Vukcevic, that's a good bunch of talented young players for relatively little outlay in today's market.

My main gripe is that we're lacking a backbone. If (for whatever reason) he doesn't want to play Grella then we desperately need an experienced holding midfielder. N'Zonzi and Petrovic are exciting for the future but we can't expect to be hard to beat with two young midfielders there for a whole season.

Listening to his comments on Vukcevic, it's almost certain that he sees his role as a winger with license to roam, probably interchanging with Hoilett on the opposite wing. That probably leaves us looking like (when everyone is injury free)...

................... Robinson

Salgado Samba Givet Olsson

.......... N'Zonzi .... Petrovic

.. Hoilett ... Formica . Vukcevic

.................... Ibisevic

A tough, proven defensive midfielder would go a long way to making that a very strong team. It would also give us the option of dropping Formica and playing three solid midfielders for tough away games. I'd also stick Emerton ahead of Salgado.

You can say that again.

bit by bit slowly the team is satrting to come together. The worrying part is the slowly bit it would of been much better if all this happened weeks ago. still lets be hopeful that they all settled in quickly.

I do not know of an example - there may not be one. But not many clubs are in Rovers position, with a coach installed as a manager. But with only two games in, Rovers have a chance of turning things around, with a new manager. As others have said on here, these players are coming in - which is good. But it is a decent manager who is able to turn these players into a team.

If Kean is sacked, it would depend on how fast a new appointment is made. Currently players are wanting to sign for Kean - who is a manager in name only. If Kean was sacked, say tonight and a new manager is in before Friday, there would still be a few days left of the transfer market.

I wish it was that easy
