but ready to spend 3.5 m upto 6 million on injured striker ??? hmmm

I don't know why people are whinging about this. We are in for two strikers and if he is good enough he is worth waiting a couple of weeks for. We have waited all summer already a couple more weeks with one new striker won't hurt.

Players who want to play in the prem will sign for a club without a manager. Anyway, any new manager coming in, if Kean is sacked, would have to work with what he has. Then in January make changes if needed.

There are already good players at Rovers. They just need to be managed and trained properly. That is not currently happening.

So you would be happy with Kean being sacked and no new players coming in at all rather than waiting a week to try and strengthen? No new striker until January at the earliest?

That's the wise words that you've decided to share and let others actually read?

I've read saner things scrawled inside public toilets with excrement.

My main gripe is that we're lacking a backbone. If (for whatever reason) he doesn't want to play Grella then we desperately need an experienced holding midfielder. N'Zonzi and Petrovic are exciting for the future but we can't expect to be hard to beat with two young midfielders there for a whole season.

To be fair Le Chuck - Nzonzi has way more premier league experience than Grella, might not have as much football experience, bu tI would rather have him than Grella in there. If they are good enough, it doesn`t matter too much about experience - both Reo Cocker and Noble did a good job as youngsters for WH when they played in the middle and they were only young as an example.

Plus, if Petrovic and NZonz get soem game time togther whilst still young, that bodes well for teh future - in my opinion havign Dunn in there is a waste of space at teh moment if he just fills in the "experience" bracket

I do not know of an example - there may not be one. But not many clubs are in Rovers position, with a coach installed as a manager. But with only two games in, Rovers have a chance of turning things around, with a new manager. As others have said on here, these players are coming in - which is good. But it is a decent manager who is able to turn these players into a team.

If Kean is sacked, it would depend on how fast a new appointment is made. Currently players are wanting to sign for Kean - who is a manager in name only. If Kean was sacked, say tonight and a new manager is in before Friday, there would still be a few days left of the transfer market.

Oh wait, you've managed to top your last post.

Given how everyone has been complaining at the time it takes Venky's to do their business, do you believe there will be a new manager and his own new signings in place in a weeks time if they sacked Kean after the match? Three games into a season gives us plenty of time to recover, so at least wait until after the window shuts. Preferably even give him time to bed in the new acquisitions, but it's pointless requesting that to some as, like you, they don't see any sense and simply WANT KEAN OUT, rather than thinking of the good of the club, which they claim to do.

Maybe there isn't an example because players are reluctant to put themselves in the position of being left out in the cold when the manager arrives. Do you really think that we'd be able to get a manager that is a "first choice manager" into the club in two days, especially given the fact that Venkys have not been renowned for the speed of their actions.

I said a few weeks ago that I have a funny feeling a massive rabbit is going to be pulled out of a hat by our owners, now Im wondering if this is coming true with Kean going to meet Mr X and we will find out who it is next Tuesday or Wednesday

Haha, don't get them excited too much. If one poster says 'who knows, it may be a big one', if it doesn't happen the doomsdayers will be acting as though it was the owners themselves who made this post.

Given the resources available, I'm actually quite impressed by Kean's signings this summer. If we do end up having bought Petrovic, Goodwillie, Ibisevic, John and Vukcevic, that's a good bunch of talented young players for relatively little outlay in today's market.

Listening to his comments on Vukcevic, it's almost certain that he sees his role as a winger with license to roam, probably interchanging with Hoilett on the opposite wing. That probably leaves us looking like (when everyone is injury free)...

................... Robinson

Salgado Samba Givet Olsson

.......... N'Zonzi .... Petrovic

.. Hoilett ... Formica . Vukcevic

.................... Ibisevic

A tough, proven defensive midfielder would go a long way to making that a very strong team. It would also give us the option of dropping Formica and playing three solid midfielders for tough away games. I'd also stick Emerton ahead of Salgado.

I agree with Emerton ahead of Salgado (he should have been our permanent right back ever since Hughes played him there regularly) and like the formation which is what I'm really hoping for but I don't see the need to bring in another defensive midfielder. People band about words such as "experience" and "proven" without (it appears) to really take on board what they mean. Whenever you move to a new club you need to prove yourself again. If you're changing league or country then the risk is even greater and it's never a sure thing.

N'Zonzi has looked solid for the two years he's played for the club and has proven himself to a certain degree. Petrovic is obviously new but has established himself as a squad player in a good Serbian national team with 19 caps at 22 years old. For me he is exactly the kind of player that should be getting games to prove himself not languishing on the bench.

The experienced, proven player option was Jermaine Jones and we all saw what Schalke wanted for him at his age. I'll take our chances with Petrovic.

What happens if one of those two is unavailable though? We've seen in these first few games how exposed we are when Dunn/Pedersen are required to play there.

Surely transfers have little to do with Kean if we have a Sports Director at the club?

As an example if Harry Redknapp left/was sacked tomorrow, Spurs would still sign players because they have a DOF, as would Liverpool. This is a unique situation because it is near the end of a transfer window.

Sports Director and Director of Football aren't the same thing.

When Kentaro were here I don't think Kean was the main man behind transfers. However, I'm pretty sure he's the man picking them now because there's no-one left.

Who do you think is picking our targets? Or more important, who do you think is qualified to do so? Comparing our situation with the set-up Spurs and Liverpool have is a bit silly.

Who is Spurs DoF???

I thought Daniel Levy(spurs chairman) and Redkanpp is Spurs manager. thought both decide on who they want and then Levy goes on get them.

Totally agree. We need one more defensive/strong midfielder - someone with a bit of experience would be ideal to bring the other two through.

Grella needs to go.

Levy has some involvement in transfers, almost acting like a DOF sometimes. It was well documented at the time that he went ahead and bought Van Der Vaart off his back, ringing up Redknapp and telling him that he had a present for him.

Why does it even matter? They're silly little buttons that can be clicked with a micro-second of thought. It's meaningless. I suggest you're the one that needs to get a grip on things...

Real Madrid offer him to spurs and Liverpool, so Levy ring Redknapp up and ask whether he want him? HR said yes. So Levy went and got him. (At least that what he told SSN anyway)

He was one of the best signing in the PL last season.

thought .....

who thinks Kean would actually make a better sporting director / director of football than a manager ... just something that occured to me whilst reading everyone else's comments it seems his plus points are is willingness to go and meet players clubs and agents and his ability to convince them to join using "his sales pitch" he's also frequently flying to India with updates flying to Canada to sort out Hoillets contract... his minus's are what he actually does with them players on the pitch!!

its a serious point , Venky's clearly like him and trust his judgment , but he's just not up to managing a football team , this could be the ideal situation where nobody loses face

Since when can you use the word majority as if it's a proven fact?

The majority of the people I know who are fans dont feel that way at all, fact..(I know because I've spoken to them) how can you speak for the whole of Blackburn Rovers fans when you can't possibly know the majority and their views?

To be fair to him he isn't the only one. Far from it.

Some people can get abit irate on here, after all people are entitled to their opinion.

Mine is:

I think we need to give Kean til after the Fulham game. I know after Villa I was calling for his head but now i've calmed down I think you have to give him the rest of the window and a few games. If we are still pointless then, we will be alittle adrift and he will have had close to 30 matches with only 5 wins. Like it or not, he would have to go and he will have no defence in the boardroom. 1 win in every 6 games is relegation statistics - we might as well have Avram Grant in charge if we're happy with them kind of stats.

I know what you mean, but to be honest he's probably just working on the often proved correct hypothesis that football fans are morons.
