Apologies if it has already been mentioned bit has vukcivic actually officially signed yet. If not it really is starting to drag on a rather long time.

It appears that some of you don't realise the complications that come with obtaining a Visa.

Den i think you are missing the point. We already have experienced premiership players, it is now the time for quality youngsters to be brought in - which has been achieved.

Nope Callum, you're missing the point.

I was discussing the views of some people who have said that we can't afford established PL players and that the way forward is for us to only sign young, cheap players with potential.

I have no problem at all with signing good, young players - why would I? However, the view that a club in the PL can survive by that approach alone is wrong, because they can't. Show me a club which has survived by simply going down the young player route?

Answer - there isn't one. I honestly think a lot of the younger posters in particular don't appreciate how high the standard of the PL actually is. A club simply must have a mix of experience and youth.

hoping ribeirio is a good right back and can replace the man known as 'The Liability' selgado, every club in the prem knows too just put someone with a bit of pace against him and selgado may aswell not even be there, other than to give away amature freekicks/pens., if riberio isnt up to much i can see us desparetly looking for a new rb in january.

Salgado has started the season badly, but he's far better than the past 2 games. His first couple of games 2 seasons ago were poor too, therefore I'm confident he will turn it around again. I'll make a wager with anyone that Salgado is better than Ribeiro, and thats without seeing Ribeiro play. The player who should be playing instead of Salgado has just signed for Sydney. Those who doubt Emo have a look at his crossing last night and away to Wham last season where he laid a goal on the plate for Roberts.

He wasn't questioning the fact that the player would talk, rather the fact that he would be playing Sunday league football and for Stoke.

Oh I dunno, I've refereed several competitions and tournaments in East Lancs where pro footballers have turned out 'for their mates', including (just after he joined Leicester) Paul Gallagher. Some blokes just like playing football.

no doubt emerton should have been are rb for the last few years, but for me selgado always been a liability and has single handedly cost us too many goals/points over the last 2 seasons, any other player would have been dropped long ago its only his reputation keeping him in the 1st team.

why do you keep calling him Selgado ? I thought he was good for us last season, yes he has some weaknesses, but so do our other full backs on the other side of th epitch who all gave away goals with mistakes. He tries to get forward, plays intelligent football, is a leader on the pitch - his legs are slow, and he doesn`t jump as high, but he makes up for it with his knowledge of the game and guile - i really like Sally

we can but dream !! thats a great team hughsey but by my reckoning thats an outlay of approx £15m on Cisse and Onouha alone + the £5m on Ibisevic .....no way will we spend £20m on 3 players without sellin Samba

Onouha loan with view to perm. Cisse I reckon we could get for £10m max. Ibisevic is £3.5m paid in installments, rising to £6m.

You crusade for JJ in one breath then omit him from your realistic signings and adding a player to the attack in P Cisse who will cost more than we have spent to date.

Realistic or wishful thinking?, someone is going to be digging very deep to add him and Onuoha. 16-18m at least. I hope your right but ....... doubt it.

No I simply mentioned JJ - I wouldnt re-sign him if they wanted anything north of £3m at his age.

Its not just that the players are youngsters in my opinion its that they are foriegn as well. Its such a big upheaval to not only move countries and leave your family and friends but to also adapt to a much more physical league with language barries.

Its no suprise it takes some players a season to adapt, established players at their peak have struggled moving over here when paying for top teams, to ask a very young player to come over and fit into our team is a huges ask, especially considering they'll most likely be fighting a relegation battle.

Look at the side United thrashed Tottenham with on Monday. I think Ashley Young was the oldest player on the pitch at the start and he's 26. We have plenty players who are experienced-what we need are players who are good. How many people currently playing football have more experience than Michele Salgado?
