G Somerset Rover Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Kamy will Vukcevic be in the squad for tomorrow? Still disappointed that we won't have John in time for tomorrow, so it will be another patched up defence if Samba is out again.

Taggart Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Kamy will Vukcevic be in the squad for tomorrow? Still disappointed that we won't have John in time for tomorrow, so it will be another patched up defence if Samba is out again. I asked that yesterday buddy - I think the answer is no, he won`t have his visa before noon today which is disappointing. Not sure about John, as he got his paperwork sorted before coming for the medical yesterday, but not sure how that went ? At least the medical process will hopefully move a bit quicker now we have Ib in there today - will be interesting to hear how that goes. I still have a sneaking feeling that Raul will be a deadline day transfer for us

Samba and Givet in there would be a big improvement on the Wolves match.
Iceman Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 i would take both Onouha and Bridge on loan, or buy one and loan the other. Onouha at right back, and Bridge at Left back, with Samba and John as the centre half pairing. Robbo Onouha Samba John Bridge Vukcevic Petrovic Nzonzi olsson Hoilett Ibisevic/Hamdaoui

Not sure if Vukcevic will be available, as of yesterday the paperwork has not arrived. Rovers will need the necessary paperwork by 12pm today (I think) if they want to register him to play tomorrow, getting International Clearence always takes time.
stu07 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I know its been mentioned before but does anyone think we should have a look at Michael Bradley? Strong midfielder. Not sure if Vukcevic will be available, as of yesterday the paperwork has not arrived. Do you know anything about the John transfer Kamy? Do you think that be done today? Dallas think its all but done.
brfcjon Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 How it may well look by the end of the window Looking at that it becomes even clearer how important it is to get Onuoha in as he can cover both center and right back - most important is of course the right back spot. We are hopelessly weak on the full backs as it is. Both left and right. Getting Onuoha could possibly salvage the right full back. But the left back is still weak.
Kelbo Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Cue the negatives... But I don't think the premier league experience thing can be avoided. I also don't think it's as cut and dry as the press think it is. We mention losing players like Emo, who has Premier league experience, yet we bought him straight of the Eredivisie if I am correct. Pedersen came from a Norwegian League, Nelsen - DC united, Samba - HSV... What about Benni Mc and Roque in their first seasons respectively? neither of those had the experience of playing in the English top flight. Berg, Henchoz, Tugay, etc etc etc... the list goes on. We aren't in a position to pay 10m + 3m a season for Kenywne Jones - just because he has goals in this league. In order to survive our club will carry on in the way it has done for the last 10 years, blooding untested players/managers and selling them on at a profit. We've been lucky in the past, we can be lucky again. I'd rather us do it this way, than lumber ourselves with an over priced "Just because they are British" team, or a top 4 ckub wannabe's with a squad costing us 1.5m a week on monster wages. For the 1,323,545th time I will use Portsmouth as an example. Yes I agree about Emerton, but here we are having 5 or six players who have never played in our league and to integrate so many is quite difficult, Emerton was also an Aussie, spoke our lingo and had Lucas Neill to settle him here, those are great advantages to a player going to a foreign club! Just as an afterthought and reading your post, Henning Berg (and he was one of my favourite players) got destroyed on his Rovers debut, think v Sheffield Wed, didnt Warhurst get a hat trick?

Do you know anything about the John transfer Kamy? Do you think that be done today? Dallas think its all but done. He had part one of his medical yesterday, and it seems that Rovers have a two part medical process, so he will undergo part 2 today, going to be difficult to that done by 12pm today, also it'd be difficult for him not having trained with any of his team mates so just can't see him being involved tomorrow.
mjwood00 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Wayne Bridge is a poor, poor player - both defensively and offensively. I actually cry when I think how much he earns. Forking out £11m was not Mark Hughes' greatest moment.
47er Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 How good is Lansbury? I read that Leeds are after him and have offered 1M. Not exactly overwhelming is it?
Ricky Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I don't think he's a poor player, just a player who seems to have lost his way a bit.
chocky Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 How good is Lansbury? I read that Leeds are after him and have offered 1M. Not exactly overwhelming is it? He's good and if 1 mill. is the price we should get in their sharpish.
alexanders Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Love how you only pick up on Emerton and his lingo and disregard all the other players mentioned Kelbo, but as a fact the language usually play a big part. MGP - Norway (speaks good english) Benni - (speaks good english being from South Africa I think) Tugay (Had been living in Scotland - didnt speak much anyway) BUT: George John - From the states. Speaks fairly well enligsh Ibisevic - Have lived in the states. Think he speasks good english. Petrovic - Doing his utmost to learn the language. Good attitude even though he is learning from Robbie Williams: Learnign from Robbie Vukcevic - Dont know about, but should be able to communicate with Petrovic. Its a good mix and I think it might be a clever move from Kean getting these types in with a good attitude and bi-lingual. Will hopefully make them settle faster.

Thanks for the update. Thought if we were struggling defensively with 'Hanley' getting injured midweek they could try and push this through and have him on the bench just in case. Dont want to see Nzonzi back there again tommorrow.
Hughesy Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 How good is Lansbury? I read that Leeds are after him and have offered 1M. Not exactly overwhelming is it? Lansbury is a good young player, but there is the key – he is young, he has bags of potential – He isn’t going to walk into our team and improve us dramatically straight away, but in a year or two with plenty of experience he could become a very good player. He is also home-grown and playing at Arsenal will be very good on the ball etc.
Guest ljb Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 arsenal had a bid reject by bolton for gary cahill, will samba be on there list now they have cash to spend, 5 days and counting, just got a feeling they will come in on transfer deadline day and sign him and kean and venkys will use the excuse we didn't have the time to replace him
Ossydave Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Far too much being made of the premiership experience debate i think. Granted the premiership is pretty unique in many ways but it's not like these new players are learning a completely new trade they're just getting new tools to work with. On a flip-side i think it can also work as a good thing especially for attacking players, defenders know what to expect with someone who's been trying the same tricks etc for a few seasons, a relatively unknown player is a much different proposition an could cause real problems.

For the 1,323,545th time I will use Portsmouth as an example. Pedersen took months before he was up to PL standard, Salgado took a bit of time as well. It's a calculated risk which is okay, but at the moment we're bringing in a bit too many inexperienced players at the same time. In our position we might not have time to wait for everyone to come good, hopefully we do though.
Hughesy Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 How far along is the Lansbury deal? I think we approached Arsenal but no reply so far. I get a feeling they will offer him as part of a package for Cahill.....be annoyed if they do
AJW Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Cant see Arsenal letting any players before they get some in so Lansbury could be last day of the window signing , i still think Liam Ridgwell could be a option for us , he could cover L/B and C/B apparently Brum were prepared to let him go to West Brom on loan

Just as an afterthought and reading your post, Henning Berg (and he was one of my favourite players) got destroyed on his Rovers debut, think v Sheffield Wed, didnt Warhurst get a hat trick? I can't remember Bergs debut specifically. I also regard him as one of the greatest players ever to pull on a Blue and White shirt. He even helped united become one of the greatest teams of all time. Perhaps one day, Henning may be the Manager of Blackburn Rovers. He has a decent win ratio at Lillestrom, but I guess i'm in dreamland thinking about that. Also - to tempt the negatives again - referring to languages; Do you think that perhaps this is an area that Steve Kean is particulary strong in? I am told he can speak Spanish, the language of Portugal, and ofcourse English. Got to be an improvement on the accent of Mr Dudley; Big "fancy a game of ping pong" Sam...
Torgeir Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 After Arsenal bid £6m for Cahill I'm not afraid of Samba going there. That bid is an insult.
A cup of beans Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Just as an afterthought and reading your post, Henning Berg (and he was one of my favourite players) got destroyed on his Rovers debut, think v Sheffield Wed, didnt Warhurst get a hat trick? kelbs, it wasnt berg who got destroyed by warhurst - it was patrik andersson. we got rid of him after about 10 games. he went on to have a decent career.. barca and bayern! berg's debut- im sure it was against crystal palace. we lost.. chris armstrong scored (he always scored against us).
