Hughesy Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Something is definitely wrong with Rovers behing-the-scenes administration, we're taking forever messing around with work permits, medicals, passports, registrations etc. I guess this is what happens when you remove a structure of experienced professionals and replace with clueless amateurs. Problem when you go for players from none EU countries….cheaper, but much harder work. The two day medical process however is doing my head in!! Sorry, but who is nicko referring to here exactly? Ibisevic, Vukcevic or John? cheers. Ibisevic. The other two are already here
rovers_rob Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 it has been confirmed Vukcevic has signed and will be available tomorrow. Hopefully we can get George John signed as well but I suspect the deadline has passed for that one to be completed in time.

Ricky Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 SIMON on the back of his shirt and wearing the number 29. Interesting choice with the name, thought he'd just have his surname on there.
vintageadidas Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie
Kelbo Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Yeah agree no end there, Salgado also eluded to it in his thing after the match on Sat.. with his quote "We're 10 days away [from the transfer window closing] and we don't know if new signings are coming or if any other players are leaving. We need to know that as soon as possible. It's very difficult for the manager to work like that" Government changed the rules recently as well.. so VISAs especially from eastern European countries are getting much harder to attain... however the government has been talking about and setting this up for the last 6 months so should not be an excuse. Main reason for the changes have been to stop the ever increasing immagration issues this country has. It was bad enough years ago getting a work permit for an |Aussie as a pro in the Lancs league, the home office asked why we couldnt get someone from the EEC, so the club wrote back asking if they could recommend a German fast Bowler!!
chaddyrovers Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 SIMON on the back of his shirt and wearing the number 29. Interesting choice with the name, thought he'd just have his surname on there. It will be easier for the commentators tho
Kelbo Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie Bloody hell, only one Englishman and one Scotsman!! Is that the least amount of british players Rovers would have ever put out? Assuming that was the team!

Not to mention the current differentials between EU member states and the EEA.
Ralfinho Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Wonder if he will do a "Simon Says" and gets kean to F-Off
Lathund Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Bloody hell, only one Englishman and one Scotsman!! Is that the least amount of british players Rovers would have ever put out? Assuming that was the team! I think we might have done that before, or even had just the one British player at one time or another. Come to think of it, we haven't actually had a whole lot of British first choice players for a while really. Robinson, Warnock, Dunn, Jones, Bentley, Derbyshire, Savage are the ones that spring to mind over the past several years who have played a lot. I'm sure there have been times when enough of them have been injured/suspended/rested for us to have played with 2 or less British players. Although of course, some of the backups have been British too. Friedel, Neill, Emerton, Nelsen, Samba, Givet, Olsson, Tugay, Andrews, N'Zonzi, Grella, Pedersen, Roberts, Santa Cruz, Diouf, Hoilett, McCarthy, Kalinic, Salgado, Ooijer, Mokoena, Chimbonda, Reid... all of them non-British and most of them have played a significant amount of games over the last several seasons. I'm sure I've forgotten some, but I don't think it changes the fact that the core, and majority, of our starting eleven has been non-British for quite some time now. I'm well aware that Reid and Roberts really are quite British btw, but basing it on the nation players have declared for.
dubdubdub Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Bloody hell, only one Englishman and one Scotsman!! Is that the least amount of british players Rovers would have ever put out? Assuming that was the team! I wouldn't even have Goodwillie in that line up. I'd stick Roberts in there...I imagine Kean will too.
joey_big_nose Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Bloody hell, only one Englishman and one Scotsman!! Is that the least amount of british players Rovers would have ever put out? Assuming that was the team! last season while jones and dunn were injured we regularly played with only robbo being british... If you look over the last five years there are very few british regulars in the side. Regarding prem experience and- if we make our predicted signings- we are looking at only three starters with significant prem experience in the likely side- samba, givet and robinson. Four if nelsen is fit. This
Iceman Posted August 26, 2011 Author Posted August 26, 2011 The only thong I know I hope its a nice colour Oklahoma
Veevs Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie Average age for the team (even with Salgado and Nelson).. 26 and average ages beyond defence 22.. my god man..
braddock Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Average age for the team (even with Salgado and Nelson).. 26 and average ages beyond defence 22.. my god man.. Doesn't really warrant an unhappy face. A note of concern maybe, but come on man, cheer up.
texasrover Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 SIMON on the back of his shirt and wearing the number 29. Interesting choice with the name, thought he'd just have his surname on there. He seems to prefer it. Noticed that on several highlight videos of him. As long as he's not switching out last names every other season like Morten, or worse legally changing his last name like Chad Ochocinco over here in the states.
AJW Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 why cant he just have Vukcevic on the back of his shirt????
vintageadidas Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I think it is really good having that age above the defence. Unless you fancy 6 over 30's with a similar pace to running in mud, a turn like a p&o ferry and the creativity of a fence post.
braddock Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 why cant he just have Vukcevic on the back of his shirt???? I agree. Sack the board.
92er Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I'd guess his debut was in the 3-2 win over Crystal Palace. On the same day Shearer, Ripley amongst others, had their debuts. Was it a win or a draw?
