scotty_beam_me_up Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 I agree. Sack the board. I know how you feel stubbed my toe this morning Venkys to blame again.
little_joe50 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Was it a win or a 2-2 draw? 3-3 draw - I think it was Gareth Southgate who equalised late in the game. Ripley and Shearer (2) with our goals.
Kelbo Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Should have read my book a bit better, his first Full debut (Berg) was 10th Feb 1993 in an FA cup game at Ewood, Warhurst did some real damage for Wednesday against us which prompted Dalglish to sign him later. Warhurst was a Centre Back and converted to striker, think he scored three for Wednesday that night, Dalglish thought as a defender who could double as a striker, would be a great midfield player, unfortunately Warhurst broke his leg early in his Rovers career and never really got his form back!
Plastic Head Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie Those two full-backs are next to useless. We have no decent full-backs at the club. Unless we strengthen there we will continue to get ripped apart week after week. The only other option is three centre backs.
Earlydoors Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 @reluctantnicko has tweeted ...bizarre Blackburn situ re Ibisevic Anyone know what that is?
Ricky Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Plastic Head, not so sure if its an issue of the full backs being hopeless, more of an issue of the formation giving them no cover at all from midfield.
Guest ljb Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Schalke_UK Schalke UK fan club Jones was not in the squad to face HJK after failing to commit 100% to the Royal Blues in a pre-match meeting.
stu07 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 3-3 draw - I think it was Gareth Southgate who equalised late in the game. Ripley and Shearer (2) with our goals. Correct, however Southgate got the 2nd. Didn't Osbourne get the equaliser late on?
joey_big_nose Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Plastic Head, not so sure if its an issue of the full backs being hopeless, more of an issue of the formation giving them no cover at all from midfield. There is some truth in this - hopefully playing Petrovic alongside Nzonzi will greatly help. However, there is a lot of truth in that the full backs are a weak link. If I was an oppossing manager I would tell my tricky wingers (and in stark contrast to five years ago it seems everyone has decent wide players these days) to target the fullbacks. If Givet comes in at left back we look more solid, but still it is a major problem for us. I really hope RIberio is defensively decent - or Salgado can refind a little pace - and Givet stays fit. We really need a stable back four to build on. As it is you can see there is very little defensive confidence in Rovers when the oppositon have the ball. If we want to win games we first have to not concede so easily.
Aberdeen Blue Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Bolton got Dedryck Boyata on season loan from Citeh. Wonder how that plays with respect to our chances of Onouha?????
Taggart Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 why cant he just have Vukcevic on the back of his shirt???? who gives a sh1t to be honest - as long as he plays well and struts his stuff on the pitch, I couldn`t give a monkeys what he has on his shirt.
Al Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Schalke_UK Schalke UK fan club Jones was not in the squad to face HJK after failing to commit 100% to the Royal Blues in a pre-match meeting. I believe his wife is still over here and won't go back to Germany. Maybe there is still a chance he will come back after Shalke have stopped posturing and set a reasonable figure for his transfer/loan.
BRFC1995 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie For me to be confident of staying up considering keans failings, 2 full backs, a target man and a better defensive mid than N'zonzi are required in the next few days. with Ollson taking Rochinas place.
mjwood00 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Read somewhere that Lakuku was heading to Stoke on loan but not until January. As for Patrick Andersson, it can be difficult adapting at centre back in the EPL and I don't think we gave him enough time. Maybe easier coming in at full back then moving across a la Berg.
rovers_rob Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Schalke_UK Schalke UK fan club Jones was not in the squad to face HJK after failing to commit 100% to the Royal Blues in a pre-match meeting. I am hoping that we are going to wait until the last minute to swoop in and bring back Jones. We have brought in Petrovic who looks decent but we know JJ can do the business. I know it woulld cost a few quid but he is a proven box to box solid midfield player. Worth the money in my opinion.
LeChuck Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Good signing - glad it is now official. Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Vukcevic Petrovic Rochina Hoilett Goodwillie No way will we ever play that shape, we'll get battered. We could rearrange that personnel though... Robinson Salgado Samba Givet Ollson Nzonzi Petrovic Hoilett Vukcevic Rochina Goodwillie Looks frightfully frail though, I wouldn't fancy taking that team away to the likes of Stoke, Wolves, West Brom etc.
stu07 Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Bolton got Dedryck Boyata on season loan from Citeh. Wonder how that plays with respect to our chances of Onouha????? I think it will, I reckon City will have to buy a centre half for us to get one now. Does anyone know when Toure's ban is up? As that would give them cover with the serb lad they got from Partizan.

Don't forget the best form of defence is attack, the opposition would not push up as much with the breaking ability and pace of our offensive side.

Wasn't the problem with Andersson that Kenny played him as a midfielder? I don't think he was given a chance as centre back.

Don't forget the best form of defence is attack, the opposition would not push up as much with the breaking ability and pace of our offensive side. Let's hope we're good in attack then! If Vukcevic settles in then we've got a real gem of a player. We already know what Hoilett is capable of. If we can get a good striker to spearhead an attack ahead of those two then we could have a good chance at outscoring the opposition in open matches. It all relies on getting this striker though... no formica ???? Rochina looks the better of the two at the moment. Hoilett and Vukcevic will be guaranteed starters if they are fit.

However the team has NO leadership or communication skills beyond defense and it's been proven over the years that this is essential for any team to do well. For those fools who keep ranting "what do you want 6 30yr olds".. err no I would like one proper leader and an experienced goalscorer... some people have that confidence and swagger and communication skills to be able to pull a team together (Savage, JJ, Tugay et al all can do that) and we need it especially as we are going to have to get allot of kids from all over the place working together very quickly or we WILL be relegated. Communication may also be a bit of an issue.. French/English, Scottish/English, Serb/English, Spanish/English, Canadian/English is a frightening combination.. it's subtle but it still is an issue. Would feel much much more confident with JJ or another player with quality leadership AND communication skills in there as well as a fit natural goalscorer.

From a fool - you did not state any of the aforementioned in your sad face icon Communication may also be a bit of an issue.. God knows how Chelsea, Man City and Liverpool will cope. Football is a language on its own.
LeChuck Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 However the team has NO leadership or communication skills beyond defense and it's been proven over the years that this is essential for any team to do well. It is a big worry, especially that central midfield area. I'm a big fan of N'Zonzi, but without the right partner he can go missing. He only really got into it last season when Jones arrived. He's a good player but not the leader in the middle of the pitch that we desperately need. If we could just get one leader in the middle of midfield I'd be happy. We've got a few more experienced players further forward in Dunn, Pedersen and Roberts, we just need a Robbie Savage type to balance it all out.
