Beckford or Yakubu then. Both better than what we have anyway.

Would be happy with Dann... Scratch that, i would of been "happy" with it a month ago but now i shall be "satisfied".

i would rather have neither, yakubu is a hasbeen, wont improve our strikeforce one bit and beckford is a championship player, suppose we will be playing championship football next season anyway, so they will be right at home, we should be channeling our efforts on a quality striker not spending 5 million on a defender, absolutely clueless.

Whilst i agree with your comment about bringing "quality" to the club I must disagree with with them "not improving our strike force"... As we don't have one. Yakabu can do the same job Roberts can but can finish, like for like I know who i'd rather pick.

i agree but replacing like for like will only make us go sidewways, we are desperate for a proper striker and yakubu is probably a championship player now and has probably lost his hunger, he cant even get in, what was a poor everton side, moyes is no fool unlike our joker of a manager.

Also what is Yakubu's real age? Not his 'Nigerian age' of 28/29 I'm sure.

An improvement on Roberts but still a massive let down. Story of this transfer window I guess.

From Alan Nixon.

"Your boss bid 6m for a striker and wanted a Prem cb on loan. His mouth. If Yak is right then I know who runs the club ..."

I seem to remember Steve Kean saying... "I have complete control of transfers".... About as much control of the wheel of his car  .

Yakubu is a 'hasbeen' but he'll still improve our strikeforce. As for spending 5mill on Dann, would we be able to get a striker for 5mill that would improve our team as much as he would? Maybe Kean's realised the best way to build a team is by having a solid defence.

It'll probably won't matter given our record in the transfer window.

I just read that Yakubu is only 28... that can't be real can it!?!?!?!

I think he could be a decent signing, not sure on his fitness though, after the achilles tendon injury, has he not lost his yard of pace?

I think the Scott Dann story is another one of those that won't amount to anything, I hope to be proved wrong though as I think he's a cracking player.

If we sign the pair we will be a stronger team, if we can get Yakubu back to his best we will have 2-3 good years out of him, and he is a far better player than Jibbly Bobberts!!!

I'd prefer a better striker with a minimal injury record and who is ready to get on the pitch & contribute, but with only a week to go maybe Yakubu will do.

I'm not holding my breath on either of these possible transfers though!!!

Dann would be a great signing - he's not as good as Jones but who is?

Big no thanks on Yak though, ta. Utter dross. Everton have three strikers and they're willing to let him go to anyone who wants him - says it all.

Events in the past few days seem to make it abundantly clear that Steve Kean isn't calling the shots. I'm sure that's part of what Nicko is talking about. Several times this window, Kean has spent a great deal of time getting a deal to the medical stage, only for it to be called off. He seems to have no control over transfer. Hopefully this means he's a dead man walking and Mrs Desai has lost faith in his judgement. In which case, she has to get rid. A powerless manager is not in anyone's interest.

GlenMullan, why is nicko saying to you on twitter that he (Nixon) 'could dismantle the place (BRFC)' if Yakubu signs? Could you let the fans know what is going on please?

It relates to a different agent....a 'super agent'

It's more like he lost his yard of pace after his 40th birthday last year.

Here in America most managers don't decide which players to get, so it's not necessarily a terrible idea. But it does raise the question-if Kean isn't calling the shots on transfers, then who is?

Kean calls the shots?! To be honest aslong as we sign a goalscorer, a defender and maybe JJ on loan - then im not too worried for now. We can look at that after the deadline day has passed.

Good question. Some bloke called Pini Zahavi, apparently.

That's enough twitter for me today, I think. Conspiracies everywhere a bloke looks.

Thanks for that. i presume the Yak is represented by someone other than Kentaro? Not that knowing that would make me understand what the hell is going on! Hope we sign Dann though.

The guy who supposedly made £3m from Yakubu's transfer to Boro? I'd have thought even Kentaro would be cheaper than that!
