Hekla Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Samba won't leave now. Arsenal signing Mertesacker and can't see Tottenham bidding now.
Lathund Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I don't have much of an opinion on which of the defenders linked that we should be looking at, as I haven't seen them enough. But we should definitely prioritize those who can play both centre half and right back. In Nelsen/Givet/Samba we have a strong central defense. Basically, a starting right back who can move inside when two of those three are out.
daveoftherovers Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Why not ask the person who told you. Brilliant!
Guest ljb Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 As of 2pm there had been no bid made or accepted by Rovers for Samba. Also the way information is leaking from Arsenal everyone would know if Samba was about to sign. how close is the dann transfer has be been to brockhall yet or they still trying to sort terms out ?
roverandout Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 arsenal will need two centrbacks in my opinion, samba and mertesaker would be a formidable defensive partnership.
Neal Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Unless players are coming the other way Samba won't be going anywhere. He may not like it but... I've not been at all worried about this for 2 summers and i'm not about to start now.
Lurid Coat Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 arsenal will need two centrbacks in my opinion, samba and mertesaker would be a formidable defensive partnership. Both Mertesacker and Vermaelen are at least as good, if not better, than Samba, and Koscielny and Djorou are also solid defenders (although they (have) struggle(d) with injuries). Can't see them going for Samba if they get Mertesacker in. Hope I'm not jinxing anything by posting this!

Two very good defenders, but not the partnership you want to have when playing with a very high defensive line as Arsenal like to do.
Neal Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Per Mertesacker is an absolute donkey!... Brilliant! Something doesn't add up with this Dann deal, I was not too surprised when the ITK's started backtracking saying that it was not as far down the line as first thought. He and Onuoha would be fantastic business but having endured this summer so far, i just can't see them happening. Though, I really hope i'm wrong!
texasrover Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 lets just make everyone mad and buy cahill without selling samba
Supersimmo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Why not ask the person who told you. Biggest laugh of the day!

T.J.Newton Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Just got this from a friend in Israel - "Omri Kanada on way to Rovers ?" anybody heard anything, seems a bit out of the blue ? just done a quick search , he's 25 played for Israel under 21's and plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv and is a defender theres a few sites linking us with kanada, some have him labelled as a right back which would make more sense cos of his height(175cm and build), though the way rovers have handled transfer deals so far cant see them getting work permits(hes israeli/medical/personal terms all done in 24 hours. good easy name chant though.
roverssex Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 what are the odd's Rovers dont sign any one in the next 30 hours ?? we might as well start setting up deals for xmas transfer window..
Mercer Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Why not ask the person who told you. Perhaps it's beyond the wit of some on here to recognise that confirmation from more than one source would suggest that it's more likely to be true than not. For what it's worth, I am told that Samba is staying down in London until a move is either done or ruled out as the the window closes. He clearly wants Arsenal or Spuds and we know that Wenger contemplated 2 c.d's earlier in the summer, now the roof is caving in there, would make more likely.
Hekla Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 So Samba is going to sit in London for two days waiting for a bid? I'm not so sure about that. If a team came in then surely he can fly there in no time.
Wing Wizard Windy Miller Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 if we get dann and onuhua then samba is as good as gone. would be good replacements imo. still desperately need a good striker though.
Backroom Tom Posted August 30, 2011 Backroom Posted August 30, 2011 Samba being in London wouldn't surprise me as the players may not be in for duty being an international week so he may be down there just in case the call comes. Can't wait for tomorrow night and the cameras outside spurs talking to Harry in his car telling us Samba is a 'triffic' player!

Come on Mercerman, keep your sense of humour fella, we all follow Rovers, so we all need one.

Iceman Posted August 30, 2011 Author Posted August 30, 2011 I think, that Omri Kanada is Omar Konde in disguise
glen9mullan Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Had a name thrown at me today from a couple of different people suggesting we have an interest now in a Moroccan striker currently plying his trade in North London, I'm trying to chase up if there is any truth in it, but certianly a suprise to see him being linked with Rovers.

Hearing Sunderland fancy Samba if they succeed in shipping Anton Ferdinand out.
