steo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Don't get to disappointed, this is the same Niko who last night claimed we had not moved for Dann or Yakubu, Now he has linked them into his story There is far more options than that on the table and dependant on chains of events tomorrow, it will ultimately decide which striker arrives at Ewood. Sadly I don't believe we will sign anyone, where is the Jones and kalinic money gone, are we going to be spending any money or do you expect nothing but loans
Amo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Already said we should sign Yakubu. Not the main striker we need but as a squad player, he's a good option. Luca Toni? To be honest, I haven't followed his career for years. I take it from the responses on here he's fallen off the rails? Then again, the same happened to Santa Cruz & McCarthy and they were hits. But do we have a manager good enough to get that out of him?
brfcshabba Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Of the players we have signed so far, I don't recall getting any of the information from Nicko before twitter/this site.
Kamy100 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Sadly I don't believe we will sign anyone, where is the Jones and kalinic money gone, are we going to be spending any money or do you expect nothing but loans You've hung in there all summer, keep the faith for another 24 hours or so. If at close of the window tomorrow we haven't bought any further players then we can look at where we go from here but at the moment indications are that more players will arrive tomorrow, when you have people like Zahavi working for you then they will deliver players, even if it takes right upto the last minute.
Paul Mellelieu Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 The Luca Toni thing is an 'in' joke. It appears I'm wrong.
LDRover Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Ah Luca, if I'm not mistaken he lives on the 2nd floor...upstairs from you?? Yes I think I've seen him before.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Already said we should sign Yakubu. Not the main striker we need but as a squad player, he's a good option. Luca Toni? But do we have a manager good enough to get that out of him? Both Roque and Benni were not 34 years old when we signed them... Luca Toni was a decent player, now he isn't. Some fans seem to not know the difference between the past and the present.
chaddyrovers Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Luca Toni has been offered but this is a deal that is far from being done. There are 2 other strikers that are being chased, not 100% sure of the names. Toni is something that has been proposed to Rovers but he is not the priority. All I have been told is that Rovers expect to be busy tomorrow, time for the talking to stop and for Venky's to deliver. Venky's need to deliver big time tomorrow in my view. I expect at least 3 or 4 signings. We need 2 strikers, 1 defender(Dann) and either midfielder or full back. come on venky's put your money where your mouths are and prove to the fans that you are willing to spend money!
texasrover Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 If Luca Toni signed it would quite possibly be the biggest punchline to an inside joke that the world has ever seen. It would almost be worth it to get him just to see how many fans could legitimately have his name on the back of their shirt.
Amo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Both Roque and Benni were not 34 years old when we signed them... Luca Toni was a decent player, now he isn't. Some fans seem to not know the difference between the past and the present. Blimey. Didn't realize he was that old. Don't know why we're bothering then. Would rather we went for El Hamdaoui.
steo Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Toni is a decent option in my opinion. Past his best but he will do a good job for us I reckon...alot better than Yakubu or Jason Roberts for example. Ha you are having a laugh,he is brutal worse than anyone we have and beyond lazy
glen9mullan Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Luca Toni has been offered but this is a deal that is far from being done. Kamy we have miles better irons in the fire and the day before the window closes and Niko puts the Toni story out, Whats he trying to do to Rovers fans? Its going to be a busy day tomorrow folks as Kamy say's keep the faith cos depsite the turmoil in the background, I think we may get out of this window ok yet
chris Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Didn't know Toni was 34 or I'd be pleased, was thinking 31 max
Hughesy Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Blackburn & QPR chase Lansbury Make this one, Dann, a proper striker and another striker option and it wont be a bad window....if no Key players are sold.
chaddyrovers Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Glen, how many signings to you expect rovers to do tomorrow?
Billy Castell Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Toni should go to a midlands or London club, for the sole reason that he can visit his cousin's restaraunt in Bedford easily. I don't know if he is still any good, but he was decent when he was first mentioned 3 or so years ago. I have a feeling age has caught up with him and he would be as mobile as a sloth with concrete shoes. Having said that, Nicko is probably swinging one of his daughter's handbags in our direction. Kammy's last post makes it sound like one of those children's adventure books where there is a choice after a short passage of the story e.g. If you choose the left door, turn to page 23, if you choose the right door turn to page 34 etc.
T.J.Newton Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 i actually wouldnt mind toni at all as long as hes not the only striker we sign, hed be good for goodwillie, formica and rochina to learn from and play off.
mjwood00 Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Talk about life imitating art, I spat my tea out at Luca Toni. Very funny though if the one thing they took from reading this board was that every transfer window is spent longing for the Italian stallion.
Mc Love Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 God being a rovers fan is flipping hard these days and depressing!!!
Oklahoma Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 Luca toni in the last seasons: 2009/2010 27 games, 6 goals, 4 assits, 1687 minutes played 2010/2011 33 games, 9 goals, 6 assits, 2011 minutes
Torgeir Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 I think we need two strikers anyway so Luca Toni on loan makes sense even if he's not first choice. But tomorrow will be exciting, it's make it or break it for Venky's. Arte et labore.
True Blue & White Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 We might as well sign Pele, plus venky's would really grab the attention of that lucrative South American market.
roverandout Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 if venky clan are reading this board, our next injoke punchline should be.....teddy sherringham.
