patrickvalery Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Looks like this lad is similar to J.Jones in as much as he's got a great engine and covers lots of the pitch. I haven't seen much of him, but it would seem he has a greater attacking ability than Jones, but maybe not so defensively accute. Might not be too bad if N'zonzi can fill the gaps. It would seem he is keen on the move if all the tit-bits are to be believed. Lets hope we can get past the post this time. This signing (potentially) won't tick all the boxes for every Rovers fan. But for me, this looks like a decent player and i'd be very happy to have him onboard. On a side note, i wonder who is likely to be conducting discussions at Brockhall tomorrow?
jim mk2 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Is this new player good enough to propel us into the Champions League in 4 years as promised by our manager ?
Teacup Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Is this new player good enough to propel us into the Champions League in 4 years as promised by our manager ? Yes
Hekla Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Is this new player good enough to propel us into the Champions League in 4 years as promised by our manager ? It's a start - good player with potential.
jim mk2 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 From the little I've seen of this player he might be a useful addition to the squad but is he good enough to take us into in the Champions League within 4 years as our manager promised in the Guardian tonight ? If Kean is serious about bringing CL football to Ewood he will have to do better than this.
Andy Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 So the telegraph had the scoop on that then. The tabloids nicking a story from the local paper? Never

You also know that Kean doesnt think, or isnt really planning, on getting into the Champions League within 4 years. You know he is putting a positive spin on things, toe-ing the party line, so to speak. You know all this and you still post this. Why bother?
Hi Mack Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 The tabloids nicking a story from the local paper? Never Andy......Andy Cryer is that you????
Hughesy Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 So 1 set to sign with 3-4 other bids active and hopeful in next 48 hours. Told you Rovers do their business whilst I'm away - chill. Raul & Pavone....Petrovic, Mongu and Honda please
Hi Mack Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 No, he isnt. And you know this. You also know that Kean doesnt think, or isnt really planning, on getting into the Champions League within 4 years. You know he is putting a positive spin on things, toe-ing the party line, so to speak. You know all this and you still post this. Why bother? Kean isn't saying it.....it's Bilaji with his hand up Keans bottom!

I cannot believe you posted that ....... are you seriously suggesting we should not believe a word the manager says ? For my part I take Kean at face value and think he is talking about the Champions League seriously, so my question about the quality of this (apparent) new target in this thread is pertinent.
roverandout Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 so rovers make their first budget signing only another 3 cheapo deals to go and that leaves the question where is the other £20 million promised?

jim mk2 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 and I ask again, why bother? Because it's a messageboard and it might be worth discussing ? Isn't that why it's here ? Why do you bother ? Why not contribute ? Do you think this player is the sort of player we should be signing if we're going to get in the Champions League in the next 4 years as Mr Kean stated tonight ? Come on now, don't be shy.
Teacup Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Do you think this player is the sort of player we should be signing if we're going to get in the Champions League in the next 4 years Yes. He is young, not in his prime, he has a better chance of being around in 4 years time than say J.J. With the current budget and so on, I think he is exactly what Kean is looking for and ultimately what we need.
RevidgeBlue Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Because it's a messageboard and it might be worth discussing ? Isn't that why it's here ? Why do you bother ? Why not contribute ? Do you think this player is the sort of player we should be signing if we're going to get in the Champions League in the next 4 years as Mr Kean stated tonight ? Come on now, don't be shy. I make no comment as to whether its realistic for us to chllenge for the Champions League within the next 4 years even though I think it's quite easy. All you have to do is lob 3-400 million quid at it! And in terms of our overall improvement have you never heard the proverb "The longest journey starts with a single step"? Plus I guess many on here would be quick to complain it was a publicity stunt if we were linked with anyone higher profile.
Brfcrule1 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Was just wondering if Petrovic signs tommorrow will he be eligible to play in the EPL Asia trophy for saturdays game?. Roverandout have you not heard the saying only fools rush in & spend all the dosh all at once & if in January we need reinforcements it is always best to keep some by for Jan. just in case & if you remember back we don't have the whole of the P.Jones right away it is paid in installments when he achieves the specified targets & it is never good to spend money that has not been fully received.
jim mk2 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 IAnd in terms of our overall improvement have you never heard the proverb "The longest journey starts with a single step"? Well, at present with the loss of Jones x 2 and no one coming in, I would say we've taken several large strides backwards. Still, this lad (if he comes) is better than nothing. I bet he's tweeting his mates tonight telling them he'll be playing in the Champions league within 4 years.

I'm pretty sure he'd be giving up CL football by moving from Partizan. Maybe he fancies his chances of actually winning it with us!
Veevs Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I'm pretty sure he'd be giving up CL football by moving from Partizan. Maybe he fancies his chances of actually winning it with us! yep he would be giving in CL football (well partizan are in qualifiers again which at least means he has already been busy preseason).. 5 CL games to date and 12 CL qualifier games in total to date.
Black Burn Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Oh, so the SavaSerbia in the Lancashire Telegraph comments seems genuine after all. It is Petrovic! He was actually spot on when he said Petrovic will be flying here for a medical and signing yesterday. Nice. As for Kean's comments, I believe he has amended his statement to European football in 4 years, and that it's no longer Champions League in four years. Maybe by European football, he is also referring to the Europa League? I could be wrong, though.
Athlete Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I'm pretty sure he'd be giving up CL football by moving from Partizan. Maybe he fancies his chances of actually winning it with us! does look a good prospect lets hope he hits the premier league running and adapts quickly as the serbian league isn't the prem...as for Kean spouting about the champions league again wish he'd shut the F*** up and get on with the job in hand..as for kicking on from last season and getting into the top half...well Steve when you took over thats exactly where we where !
chaddyrovers Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Kean hopes to complete a £2.5m deal for Serbian midfielder Radosav Petrovic from Partizan Belgrade in the next few days and is also in for Monaco defender Cedric Mongongu Read more: http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/sport/football/3716225/Im-Kean-to-put-Blackburn-Rovers-in-Champions-Lge.html#ixzz1THmvNtbf
chaddyrovers Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 The Lancashire Telegraph are saying today that Radosav Petrovic bid accepted! Petrovic tell Partizan Belgrade he wants Rovers move after talks with Kean. The LT understand Rovers have had bid in the region of £3 million, plus add ons, accepted by Partizan Belgrade and a deal could now be compeleted for the 22 year-old by the end of the week.
