I am told that there is some serious interset in this Podolski from Rovers, not at the stage where a bid has been made, but that could change at anytime.

Venky's PR has told me there is no interest in Raul, but some very reliable sources say different. It could just be that the RE Raul Venky's PR is out of the loop.

I think once Kalanic's transfer is confirmed they will move on the striker front.

Seems that Zacc was again on the money here, and the Raul interest is very much on.

Not sure we'll pull off any of the deals to be honest, but it gives us something to talk about doesn't it.

As good a player as he is, he's not the big physical goal scorer that we are missing. We need someone who can be a better version of roberts.

True but does he not play more on the left side of a three or deeper for Germany. Not sure where he plays for Koln.

The German League is similar to the Premier League in terms of physicality. If he can cut it there then I imagine he'd be fine here.

Yes Podolski is the target and has been for quite a while, It went a little quiet on him a few weeks back as he picked up a mystery illness which turned out to be an intenstine infection. Rovers are keen on the player and enquiries are in on him, he ticks all the right boxes and i'm hopeful we can do enough to get him in the blue n white halves.

To be honest, with that line up, the goal scoring burden would definitely be shared. I'd argue that having someone to lead the line and bring others into play would be more important than a natural goal scorer (i.e. a Raul type).

Before anyone suggests Roberts is the answer to a 'lead the line' type - he's not! He's a battering ram but doesn't have the link-play qualities we would require.

Edit: You know what...Santa Cruz would probably excel in that team, he's got all those qualities...

Posolski would be an awesome signing, but he deserves a top European team, and we ain't one.

Yes, the first thing I thought when I saw we perhaps had an interest with a very good player but were waiting to sell a striker and seeing how that affected our budget, and with a while to go before the start of the season was DISGRACE!
