Marica is a pretty good player, decent pace, first touch etc. However he is not a goalscrorer- he would be a good foil for a poacher.

Marica has a good international record and at 25 is a good age, looks versatile enough to play a variety of positions up front.

I fail to see how Kalinic falls into either of those categories. Anything we get for him is a bonus. Whether its spent wisely afterwards is a different issue.

Its a fair point. If we lose Kalinic for 6m then that means we will have had 22m "in" in total. Even if we signed Mongers (2.5), Petrovic (3), Raul (2.5), Podolski (10) and Pavone (free) then we still won't have spent all that money on fees. The suspicion is we will probably only spend 8-10m on fees and the rest will "disappear".

The baseline was supposed to be venkys investing 5m of their own money before departures. I doubt we will ever see that 5m.

Incidentally - Phillipl and the other financially aware members - If the Venksters transferred money from transfers out of the club I assume that would be traceable through the publically available accounts? Is this true?

So Balaji has been on the warpath and there is just under 40m set aside for supersignings if they become available from his personal coffers. i.e. the cash that would have gone on Beckham or Ronaldinho. Raul and possibly Podolski are being chased with this money.

There is another 10m set aside for ordinary players i.e. Petrovic and Mongongu, plus maybe others like Marica. This is now available assuming the PJ and possibly NK money is used to pay off the rest of the bank draft.
