I honestly think, pending disaster, we'd survive with the squad we have at the minute (including Kalsy if the man wasn't an ass). Look at the squads that have just come up and the teams around us and they are extremely weak.

That said...we'd be a lot safer and could push on if we signed three/four good, first team players.

Though we need new players - many seem to forget Rochina and Formica - neither of whom featured much in the first team last season - but have the talent to feature far more this season. Formica's pre-season and Rochina's end of season (prior to injury) surely give some light in the current dismal transfer window (which still has until end of August to go).

Alexanders, that is a excellent point about how long it takes for a work permit to get sorted. Plus also did you not need to apply for the work permit from the country you are from through the UK embassy in your country.

Which will explain why he is back in Serbia as Nikola Kalinic had to go back to Croatia to collect his and therefore couldnt play against City as stated on Wikipedia.

There you go. No need to panic :)

That is why I used the term Premier League strike force.

None of the players you have mentioned have started a PL game as either the 1 in a 4-5-1 or in a 2 in a 4-4-2.

With the sale of Kalinic we are now down to just 15 players who have started more than one PL game.

That Ricky means Relegation.

Phil - there is no doubt we need to bring players in, violently agree with you on all counts here ! it means relegation IF we don`t bring people in - but you know we are actively trying to do that at the moment, so its not looking like relegation or a solo cameo role for JR up front for the whole of the campaign !

If thoses additions don`t come in by the start of the season, we are in deep, as you put it a few days ago " Dog poo"

Philip didn't you also state we were going down last season?

Out of interest how many premier league games have the players of QPR, Swansea and norwich played?

Can't believe the stick that Philipl is getting.

Understandably, many supporters get 'lost' in the glare of the headlights where potential new signings are concerned.

It's a simple fact of business that if you don't have the right people in the right roles with the right competencies and experience then you will either consistently lose out or get your knickers pulled down time and time again.

Not sure the penny has dropped with some but, IMO, we are in one hell of a mess and I share most of Philipl's sentiments.

of course you do ;)

and I'll respect that, but I tend to take a different look on it.

We have more up and coming, techinacally gifted, pacey and hungry players than ever. Mixed with the experience of Robinson, Nelsen, Samba, Dunn, Pedersen I think this is a helthy mix. We are only a couple of signings away from being an entertaining and exciting side to watch next season. Looking forward to it!

Obviously Sam realises he signed a dud otherwise he'd take him to West Ham, they've lost central midfielders this summer.

If we can get Petrovic and keep Grella semi-fit then N'Zonzi, Petrovic, Grella, Pedersen, Dunn and Andrews is probably enough to see us through a season.

I think people are a little too fast in writing off Pedersen and Dunn. Arguably our best performance of the season versus Liverpool saw Pedersen and Dunn play central midfield in a 4-4-2. I wouldn't want either to be first choice but they're PL quality squad players.

They would likely get us through to relegation.

Phil, It isn't really Just JR though is it. If you read anythign from Roberts on Twitter you'd see that he views Hoilett as a striker. There is also Rochina and Formica and we also have Blackman coming through.

Now I'm certainly not saying that we should go into the new season with those forward players but the fact is that Roberts isn't our sole striker.

In my opinion, having watched the lad play three time now, Blackman is 'Myles' away from being a prem player, Formica is not a striker and in my opinion Rochina would have to play in the hole behind a lone striker, problem there is, thats where Formica plays as well!!

Correct Kelbo.

If people just stopped listening to all these 'insiders' and wait for a release from the club then nobody would be as disappointed. The insiders this window have not proved to know much, no disrespect to them.

Completely disagree with that one. People have consistently provided info that the club has not been forth coming with, including potential targets, money issues etc. Granted, not every single one is going to be correct, but that is the nature of the beast. A player does not have to sign for the info to be correct.

If you listen to what the "club" have officially said then we want european football, sold Jones and released a slightly humorous yet touch embarrassing video.

Good...I tried to like him, really wanted him to come good but ultimately turned out to be a dud.

Also, never in a million years can he play as a lone target man. Bearing in mind this was always Allardyce's preferred tactic I'm gobsmacked he ever wasted the money on him. How we seem to have almost recouped our money, god only knows!

Just one interesting fact here, Myles Anderson apart (who was signed on a pre contract in January)

have we signed anyone since JW left the club?

I am being 100% rational based on the hard facts.

Losing Kalinic or getting rid of Kalinic, our Premier League strike force now comprises Jason Roberts and nobody else.

We don't have anybody at Rovers who knows how to complete transfers- nobody is rushing to throw names of Rovers employees at me to contradict this.

100% fair.

Who may I ask negotiated Petrovic's transfer, sorted out his wage demands and his medical, who is also sorting out his work permit?

Why in the hole?

4-2-3-1

WOuld see Petrovic - Nzonzi sitting midfielders and Hoilett - Rochina - Formica playing in a triangle with rather free roaming roles.

That it does. They'll be like two new signings hopefully. Not seen Formica myself owing to work but he sounded decent. We still need players to displace Dunn, Peds, Emerton, Roberts etc to the bench though. I'm hoping Rochina and Formica will take care of a couple, Petrovic another, then we have Hoilett to bump off the last of those. It's a big ask to think Rochina, Formica and Petrovic (signature pending) will be up to the task though.

Then of course we need bodies up front.

Didn't he depart before we got rochina and Formica?

Shame about Linganzi although I thought he was pictured in hong kong with the team?
