Didn't he depart before we got rochina and Formica?

Shame about Linganzi although I thought he was pictured in hong kong with the team?

I think he departed in February after the window was closed.

Therefore we havent signed anyone without JW.

How much do you think signing on fees cost?

You don't get a signing off fee do you?

Bucky, so far we have sold phil jones, for a reported sum of around 15-20 million, add those numbers with the promise of 5 millions from venky´s and we would have huge budget, when compared to previous years. That would give us an excellent chance of strenghtening our team, not seen since the days of Mr Walker,

The general consensus, as ive trawled through these transfer pages in part 1-4 is, that people just want what was promised in terms of £££££ and players who would strenghten our starting lineup.

We know its not just a transfer fee, but there are agent fees, sign-ons and so on. Still with the these fees, with a budget of 20-25 million, we should easely be able to get some very good players in.

Venkys could even drop the 5 million they promised this window and let kean have the jones money and we would still have a good budget and the money to get a couple of good players in and mix it up with a loan or 2.

Completely disagree with that one. People have consistently provided info that the club has not been forth coming with, including potential targets, money issues etc. Granted, not every single one is going to be correct, but that is the nature of the beast. A player does not have to sign for the info to be correct.

If you listen to what the "club" have officially said then we want european football, sold Jones and released a slightly humorous yet touch embarrassing video.

How many players have we been linked with? How many have we signed? I'll count Petsy as having signed...just shy of 100 mentioned. About 1/85 strike rate.

Why release info on our transfer targets to the media? Thats how Harry 'Cod-eye' Redknapp goes about his business and I think that's totally the wrong way to go about it

bigbar are you suggesting we sign mr 'no goals' overrated peice of sh*t cruz? anyone who thinks we will be alright with this squad especially in my opinion the worst set of striker in the premiership, to go into the new season and we will survive is seriously deluded.

I would like more signings I do expect us to make some good ones, I am not going to bother arguing with people really as time will prove all.

But just becuase people make up lots of bull rumours and we don;t sign them, thats not Venkys fault.

Kean was sacked last week, the week before they had cut out 50 million budget over an 8 million pound bank loan, week before they were planning to sell........it never ends.

Like Kean said by the end of the window the fans will know the truth.

Get him in on loan! He wasnt Mr. 'No Goals' 2 years ago was he? or when he got 17m for him was he? Granted it didnt go for him since January but hes alot better than what we have and better than gambling on some Honduran 21 year old playing in Belguim who scored 14 goals in 47 games last season (No he doesnt exist but thats what were capable of) plus he would happily come here and with olsson, junior, rochina supplying ammo the goals would come!

P.S im with you the squad is very poor right now but this would be a start!

That is why I used the term Premier League strike force.

None of the players you have mentioned have started a PL game as either the 1 in a 4-5-1 or in a 2 in a 4-4-2.

With the sale of Kalinic we are now down to just 15 players who have started more than one PL game.

That Ricky means Relegation.

Yes, I remember Everton getting relegated the other year when they played a stretch of season with a midfielder up front on his own.

It's not about how many sign, it's about how many we have an interest in. Transfers break down all around the country. You could compile a huge list of players that Rovers were interested in over the years and never quite signed, does not mean the rumour/info is any less correct.

I agree Dario, never release info about the players you are after, like we clearly did in January. My point is that a transfer does not have to come off for the info to be correct. We have probably actively looked at 100's of players since Venkys took over

exactly. im not saying venkys are going to do the business but to many so called people in the know have caused all the hysteria for our club. the club never said these stories.

The only hysteria created was Venkys saying they wanted Champions League football. That has been the catalyst for everything. Not bashing them at all, just highlighting where it all started.

I'm not saying it is. I'm of the slightly more positive than average group of people. I was knocking the hit rate of journalists because somebody had mentioned that their information is invaluable.

There's nothing wrong with having ambition, or saying where you'd like the club to end up- i.e in the UCL.

But to say you want it within 4 years is mind-boggling! Look at how much Citeh have spent to only just achieve it last season, and how much they're going to have to continue to spend to remain in it year upon year!!

See above post. Information's obviously not that invaluable regardless of how much truth is in the story. If they don't sign then we may as well have never known about them in the first place.

Well why don't you stop following Philip everywhere he posts and talk football instead?

To be fair, there's very little to post about right now aside from pulling apart the negative Nancy's and their poisoness pessimism, considering how much they spout across the board and in a large number of threads.

See above post. Information's obviously not that invaluable regardless of how much truth is in the story. If they don't sign then we may as well have never known about them in the first place.

Indeed. If we were privvy to the truth then maybe, but all we get is conjecture from 'insiders' about why we missed out, which ranges on the type of person who tells us.

Why in the hole?

4-2-3-1

WOuld see Petrovic - Nzonzi sitting midfielders and Hoilett - Rochina - Formica playing in a triangle with rather free roaming roles.

While the free roaming business would be great while we attacked it would beg the question of how we organise when we defend. Hoilett was rather good at tucking in on the left and harassing who he was marking. With Rochina and Formica you do have to wonder how muh they would contribute defensively - at least one of the two would need to keep the shape well and close down the opposition.
