True, but I don't think they run into the millions of pounds. Or at least I hope not....

I reckon they probably do run into millions by the time you've greased all the palms that need greasing in this seedy business.

Let's be Honnest if we sign these two a centre back and save what ever is left for our main striker target I would be pleased with that.

And ok it does not stand out as a wow signing but I think if this is true we have got a very good player with the potential to score goals.

How can people complain at £2.8m, TWO POINT EIGHT MILLION. You couldn't buy many Championship players for that, unless like the Dingles the players contact only has a year remaining and they have to accept the bid. Quit complaining, it's not your money and it gives us more options up front.

According to someone one Twitter (I'm guessing his agents) we have not made a offer for Goodwillie

Rangers, Celtic, Blackpool, Middlesbrough have all made formal approaches. He will leave Scotland. David fancies the English option

£2M+ sounds like a lot for Goodwinkle but when you compare that to the money we are getting back for Kalinic it's not bad. They must be a imilar age and at least we haven't endured 2 years of constant frustration with this bloke yet. He should be able to withstand some kind of physical challenge after a few years in the SPL which would be a vast improvment from the constantly horizontal Kalinic. A bit harsh to slag his goalscoring record, many of his games were played while he was very young and a lot were from the bench. Last season he banged a lot of goals in as a senior player.

So when Kean told us all that we had the biggest transfer budget in rovers history, who thought we would have been after David Goodwillie?

Goodness me, some people are easily pleased ;)

Who would you like to buy who a) isn't too piddling and B) isn't so expensive as to give us a ludicrous wages to turnover ratio?

I'm hoping Balaji gets Vagner Love, then our forward line will be Love Goodwillie.

He can't be any worse than Kalinic now can he??

and at a third of the price even if he only turns out to be a squad player then spending 2mil isnt going to destroy us.

I hope he can realise his potential as he seems to know where the goals is.

Can't win can they.

Low blow.

Sure they can. Considering how cash strapped we are I just dont think Goodwillie is the way to go with that price tag.

Maybe if we had money to spare.

I would rather use the money on somebody else - preferably a young Barcelona B player called Jonathan Soriano. I want flair and passing game - and I dont see Goodwillie fitting in there.

I just dont rate Goodwillie. No need to have a go.

not having a go, just making the point that they are damned whichever way they go. There are a lot worse deals being suggested. As for the financial situation, no-one knows, except philipl of course.

Yes except if what roversinsider is saying is true, Balaji's cash came in and got withdrawn, we will not see it in the balance sheet and perhaps not even in the cash flow statement.

On the cash, the huge question is how they managed to burn so much of it in the eight months they have owned the club.

How much have they burned?

You were always pretty sharp with the Trusts annual accounts, I'm sure you can apply the same logic against the Venkys?

Allow me to help you along a little:

At least £5 million on players in January.

Two high wages for RSC and JJ (dont forget, we are running close on 95% annual turn over to wages, so there was no manouverability in the current wages structure).

Sacking Samual Allardyce Esquire (loved that one by Jim) Six figure sum minimum.

Sacking/Paying off/forcing out(delete as applicable) John Williams Another six figure sum.

Pay rises/Bribery(delete as applicable) for current players. (again impacting an already bloated wage bill).

Running a football club is not cheap, factor in the above costs(some, most certainly unnecessary)and the money would dissappear quite quickly I'm sure.

It is also worth considering that the above only takes into account Venkys tenure up to May 2011, if what we are lead to believe is true they managed to blow a small fortune on paying Kentaro to handle transfers up until July, only to pull the plug. Dont reckon Kentaro said ok fair enough and handed the cash back, do you?

Then factor in the unexpected blow of the bank wanting back their cash from the Phil Jones sale.

All in all I would say this has been an expensive venture, with a truly savage financial afterbite for Venkys.

Not that big a mystery imo.

You have other ideas?

Just been Looking at Papiss Cisse on youtube. He looks quality, shame it seems are interest has died down.

Has all the right movement and knows where the goal is!

I dont understand why Vekys wont fork out for this? He young, will only improve, and has resale value?

I know that he plays in the german leauge and it is an iferior leauge to ours, but the german leauge is still pretty tough.

Whats not to like about this guy?

The huge fee.. and not to mention a daft 75k a week (3.9m pa) wage demands.. that imo is madness for a player of his level.

True, but I don't think they run into the millions of pounds. Or at least I hope not....

Yeah agree there, BBC wrote in 2006 the average was a six figure sum, players who run down their contracts get pretty huge fees as well as they can afford to negotiate hard due to the lack of a fee.

There are lots of fees in general involved mind.

List of all the fees involved

HUGE question in my opinion, but if rumours (not seen proven) are true we apparently paid 3m in the winter transfer period on agent fees alone.. Sam was bound to of been paid a pretty hefty goodbye package as well.

You missed the loan fees.. not sure if there was one for the RSC loan but there was one for JJ apparently.

Also missed club agent fees, we pay fixed sum amounts for selling and finding players.

And believe Sams contract buyout would of been a fair amount more.

The bit I don't get in the whole scenario is the TV money.. this would of arrived by now.. yes I know it is used for the running of the club, but if the bank reclaimed their 16m.. how does this figure into the whole set of calculations, PJ netted us 8.5m up front so would the other 7.5m of come out of our TV cash and misc income?

Not having a go but personally from a striker I want goals.

I can't remember ever watching any of our decent strikers and going... "Ooh he's a good passer, such flair." I was too busy on my feet jumping up and down with the rest of the Rovers fans seeing the ball nestling in the back of the net.

Juvenile.

Wow, someone needs a hug.
