Clearly I have fallen foul of your dry wit......

Would they not have expected to have the option of extending the mortgage?

It would have been in the documentation filed at Companies House if it existed.

Everybody doing business with Rovers has the right to see which creditors rank in front of them for which securities and when. So options normally get disclosed.

I'm hoping Rovers do confirm the Goodwillie bid today as we need a few strikers, so it may be a case thats its been done from a far, but one other piece of interesting transfer new for you.

Rovers are very interested in signing Park Chu-Young who is the current South Korean captain and plays for relegated Monaco, We have upped our interest and it could yet be a double swoop if we can sort out the fine details holding the Mongongu transfer up

I hope we do confirm the transfer bid of Goodwillie.

Park Chu-Young would be GREAT signing if Rovers can pull it off. I really hope that they can.

heard that he is due to travel down to blackburn today for a medical

Come be done and dusted by the end of today if we can agreed personal terms with him.

Quick update on Park Chu-Young, The figure is not bad as it would of been more had Monaco not been relegated, but we are looking at between £6 and £7 Million to secure him

The French B division starts on Monday and Monaco and the player are keen to get his future sorted one way or another by then

So is that instead of mongongu? Or we still looking at signing him?

Silly question but what position does he play? Says forward on wiki but poor return for a striker.

He is a striker. Hasn't had the best run since making a splash in his late teens/early 20s.

For £6-7million, I am not enthused. Won't bring the goals we should expect for that kind of money. Might do something for us commercially, but is that worth it?

Ah, my mistake then. I thought you were intimating that Goodwillie is not good enough to go straight into the first team and improve it.

I was driving at the possibility that Goodwillie might be able to do just that, like Samba, Nelsen etc. That's doesn't strike me as irrelevant, particularly given our track record of finding little gems rather than bringing in big money players that underperform.

Just look at Torres. 60,000,000 for 1 goal. I know he may come good this season but a price tag like that can bring it's own pressues and expectations from the fans. We are happy as long as we finish in the top ten this season. Chelsea's fans will expect and demand a trophy. Goodwillie is a slight risk. But at 3 million odd it's not that much of one to take. He is a prooven striken in the SPL,, wether he can make the step up waits to be seen but I for one will be happy if we sign him.

I'm sure we've been linked to Park Chu Yung before - maybe during the time just before we signed Kalinic? I'm sure the price bandied around that time was about €6-7m then as well!

Personally, given the choice of either Goodwillie or Park Chu Yung, I'd take Goodwillie.

Yes hope this Park Chu Young interest is real, I've been calling on us to sign him for ages. Good player and would bring in a lot of revenue he is a massive star over there.

Though my Korean friends have always said-"Good player, thinks he is better than he is, though he hasn't realised his potential"

Fair enough, rather short sighted of Venkys then.

I thought your post was irrelevant Dan, because the scenarios are different. It's fine taking a punt on "potential", when you have a decent squad to start with. However, when we don't have one striker fit for the name, then the Goodwillies of this world shouldn't be our first move in the transfer market. If we have 20m to spend, then OK we can supplement him with others - but do we have 20m to spend? I doubt it. We are crying out for proven quality up front. If we don't get it and we finish up with a 22yr old being relied on to score enough goals to help keep us in this division, then I don't think much of our chances. Spend your money first and foremost on your main targets, then if there's money over, go for the DG's. Don't go for the DG's first, then find you can't raise the money for your main targets.

All in my opinion, of course. :D

Of course it will be good to see what he has to offer. and for all the hysteria from the "positives" on this site, - who tell us what a good move this is, while slating anyone daring to suggest it might be the wrong time for this, pretty much none of them have seen him. Tell me that's a realistic standpoint!

The inference of roversinsider's tweets is that Kalinic HAS to be sold before Rovers can make any new signings.

I think Cisse is completely off the radar now.

Daily Mirror is saying exactly same thing re Kalinic so I suppose they deserve a minus too!

If Rovers had an £18m overdraft and Phil Jones certain fee is £16.5m, the bank will want the other £1.5m before not moving to seize whatever monies they believe they are entitled to.

Hence the need to shift Kalinic and get £1.5m of cash in- I guess the bank will be nervous about accepting just a contract with a Ukrainian club.

This might be a reason for the oddities over Goodwillie and Petrovic.

I think more and more it is looking like the very best net result we can expect on the transfer front this summer is to end up at net -£8m ie £18m overdraft repaid plus £10m injection.

Far more likely that wages and fees will need to be taken into the equation so unless Balaji gets a marquee signing hooked (and frankly that seems very unlikely because he has bungled the previous targets so badly that the only deals available are ones where he gets "taken" big time) then I think we are probably looking at Rovers being around net -£15m or worse on transfer spend by 1 September.

As the situation looks at the moment, that will put us bottom of the PL spending list league table this summer.

We might get both.

I think I understand what you mean now, and you are right.

However, I believe we do have quite a sum of money to spend, contrary to what is being reported (but hey I could be wrong and my optimism/faith might be misplaced), and we even seem to be bidding for Park Chu Young alongside Goodwillie, around 6 to 7 million. So he probably won't be the only striker we will sign.

On the other side of the coin, if we waste too much time trying to get the main targets and fail on the last day, we might not even get DG's like Goodwillie, so I guess it really depends on how you look at it and what your priorities are.

You were surprised a player plucked from the bottom division in England was a technical flop?

It was a gamble, paid off as his 6 goals helped keep us up. Never going to be good enough though, many knew that.

Why should they flop just because they start in the lower leagues? Dunn? Derbyshire? Vinnie Jones? Dj Campbell etc etc. Players being born into premiership teams now?

I actually had high hopes for Jonathan Stead after he single-handedly saved us from relegation. Wow, I can't believe I still remember that period of time where he was scoring the solitary goal in a few 1-0 wins to keep us up. That was nearly 8 years ago. (Was it? I can't remember the exact season, but it was after Souness left and Mark Hughes came in)

Unfortunately I was disappointed the next season and he eventually left for...was it Sunderland?

Ok I can see i'm going to have a busy day,

Now had confirmation that Goodwillie WILL sign for Blackburn in next 48 hours official source,

Also a bid has been lodged for Park Chu-Young and Rover are hoping to tie up both moves ASAP

Good news, now maybe some will stop moaning now then.
