David Goodwillie proposed move to Blackburn Rovers dead. United say clubs agreed terms but player could not agree personal terms.

Another greedy barsteward then, not so much interested in proving himself at the highest level. I'm sure we would not have been offering chicken feed.... or would we.

The Scotsman is reporting that the hold up is at Dundee United's end

"Goodwillie was expected to head south over the weekend to sign at Ewood Park but the 22-year-old and his representatives have not yet signed off his time at United. It's understood they are in discussions over contractual matters which have to be resolved with United before he can speak to Blackburn."

I think most of you missed this in your paniced state. Nothing to do with us. Wrapping up his contract at DU before he can speak to us. Calm down!

Make sense to me.

If I said that a 'knock' is a small injury usually sustained by a kick to the leg? It can also be used as and excuse: imagine the footballers' equivalent of man-flu.

Sorry - doesn't add up - it is widely reported that the Jones fee wasn't all up front - so therefore we couldn't only have £1.5m to pay off.

This has already been explained. The bank apparently are taking title to all the £16.5m which will be paid over the coming year and are using the £4m balance on the Kalinic deal as security against fees and interest.

That is if roversinsider is correct and I have reason to believe he is on this one.

How can the bank "take title" over monies that have yet to be received? The agreement is between BRFC and ManU, not ManU and the Bank. If BRFC said to ManU place those monies in another bank, then there's stuff all the first bank can do.

The only time they may do that is if they (the Bank) has an agreement (written) with BRFC.

Roverinsider also said that we had agreed a new line of credit - which is it ? Truth is most dont know the truth - compounded by nobody really knowing what the Venkys are worth.

You can analyze over and over again the financial aspect, the debt the incomings the out goings but at the end of the day all you are doing is educated guesses. Its pure speculation and unnecessary negative speculation at that. Rovers have said time and time again, No one has to be sold before we buy we have money to spend and guess what were spending it and wisely. 2 million for Petrovic is a cracking deal, hes 22 and hes vastly experienced for his age. David Goodwillie a very highly rated forward again 2 million and aged 22. 4 million on two highly rated players and if Steve Kean, Venkys, Ryan Nelson and David Dunn are correct, we got plently more in the tank to match the clubs ambition.

Rovers have only been linked with these players, but have NOT signed them. So the money has NOT been spent. Maybe when the Kalinic money comes in, then those players may be bought.

If Goodwille is messing about demanding big wages, then drop him and move on. £30,000 p/w plus the goal bonuses etc. is too much for a player unproven in a decent league. Whilst it would be annoying to see another transfer die, it is good to see the club not bending over to be bummed by agents and greedy players.

Anyway, according to Kamy, there sounds like other deals on the go, so it may turn out to be not such a bad thing. The Goodwillie deal will be resolved in the next few days I should imagine.

Anything happening over Podolski?

In Venky's defense, the sell on clause for Niko was obviously put in when we signed him, under the previous regime. Granted, Venky's should know the clauses in every one of their players contracts, but they can't be blamed for the 15% fee actually being there.

Before Blackburn showed their ugly head, it was either Blackpool or Rangers.

Blackurn is obviously a higher level then both clubs, so until Backburn came along I'm sure Rangers was very appealing.

Rangers probably still is appealing, it maybe a small pond the SPL but he'd probably be a star there where as if he comes here it might be a real fight to play.

If he really belives in himself then he'll go for the EPL.

they are part and parel of the game now - I`m sure the ones we have let go, have sell on clauses as well - Derbs, Gally for example did have and the boys who left end of season, befor epre-season.

Its just BAU for footballers these days, wonder if we got one inserted to Phil Jones leaving as well

I doubt we got one for PJ, simply because he had the minimum fee clause activated, so we couldn't really negotiate that one. But, I agree, they are part and parcel of the game, and I would rather we have a player come in and do well for us, then sell him on and give 15% to his old club, than not get the player in the first place. Unfortunately we never really got to see if Niko had the potential to be a top player for us, but £6m for a player who is IMO average is a pretty good fee.

It certainly won't stop the usual suspects around here from trying though..........

A sell on clause as an incentive for all parties only makes sense if it's a percentage of the profit made. Otherwise it's just another staged payment and should be added to the original fee paid.

I agree. Unfortunately it looks like the Walker Trust or whoever made the contractual decisions under them, decided that they would agree to 15% of any fee and not just profit. Of course most of our fans will still blame Venky's for this, but those with common sense will realise it's not their fault.
