As I understand things, a sell on fee is only over and above the original purchase price, there would otherwise be no point!! However, 15% of £6,000,000 is £900,000 so we still have £5,100,000 from the deal!!

I agree. Unfortunately it looks like the Walker Trust or whoever made the contractual decisions under them, decided that they would agree to 15% of any fee and not just profit. Of course most of our fans will still blame Venky's for this, but those with common sense will realise it's not their fault.

Perhaps Hajduk wouldn't have agreed to a lesser cut by only taking a percentage of the profit though. With a sell on clause, we end up paying Hajduk a fair amount of money if he is a success and leaves for big money, but they get very little if he goes for very little. I don't see how that can be judged and added in as staged payments in the original transfer, as the guy who posted before you (MJWood) suggested. These clauses are in most deals now, I'm not surprised at all and am more than happy to take the £5.1million that we'll get despite the clause.

Aint got a clue whats happening with Goodwillie deal, and whatever the problem is/was its pointless to specualate as no-one really knows the issue.

I only went to a fancy dress party, granted our Zippy n George outfits did not turn up, so we ended up raiding someone else's wardrobe for a costume........................mmmm wrong thread

Be interesting tomorrow to find out what has gone on/going on because you spend a few hours away from all things Rovers and the revelations just start to pile up.

Surely there is a pattern emerging here why we go for a player then it does not happen? I have my own personal thoughts on this and sincerly hope its just my imagination running a muck.

Lets hope all these things are cleared up sooner rather than later, as fans we really deserve better

Transfers can be complicated however having such inexperienced operators in charge wouldn't assist the process I imagine.

Think those dirty little asset stripping Indians will be rubbing their hands in glee at the thought of this amount coming their way.

I certainly wouldnt use the word we, on any transfers were money coming in is concerned.

Posted this on the Venkys to sell thread in reply to Majiballs post, probably most approriate here!!

Venkys should be judged by their record and at the moment it is rank bad, Venkys most important feature of the pre season is not to see Rovers with a good squad in place, its been 'oh, we'll have a party in Hong Kong or whatever, 'we own a football club, arent we great'

Now further to this, we have our manager miles away, we havent yet signed a player and we have sold and loaned out quite a few, we have Diouf who probably wont play for us again and we are down to the bare bones, now if I was manager, I would have left Jenson to sort out Hong Kong and if Goodwillie was a player I wanted, I would have been in Scotland knocking onn his door and selling the club to him, bigging the lad up and telling him just why to sign for a club like Rovers would give him a great opportunity of establishing himself in the Premier League, the top half dozen clubs cant offer that, he would at best be a bench player, we have very few strikers and common sense would tell the lad he has a wonderful opportunity. Any problems that were contractual, I would tell Paul Hunt or whoever is negotiating, sort the deal quickly, I want him on board. Thats what Dalglish does, he speaks to the players and convinces them, Ferguson did it with Phil Jones, he was telling the lad what he wanted to hear, future of Man Us defence for years to come etc.

Thats how its done, unfortunately, we appear to be a club with no real management, no direction and no bloody idea, indeed, we have one or two players we want to loan out who could have beena decent part of the deal with Dundee Utd if only we had thought about things.

How come we could get Formica/Rochina/J.Jones and Roque all to the club in the space of 3/4 weeks without much hassle at all, and now struggle to sign a single player in 2 months?? Yes they're inexperienced but they managed to bring players in during January..?

And the bloomingly obvious answer is Jerome Anderson, Philippe Huber, John Williams and Tom Finn were at Rovers in January. Irrespective that Venky's had blundered and put the wrong pairing in charge, all of those guys know how to do a transfer.

We had the services of Jerome Anderson at our disposal at January, and according to the rumours, we don't anymore.

In Venky's defense, the sell on clause for Niko was obviously put in when we signed him, under the previous regime. Granted, Venky's should know the clauses in every one of their players contracts, but they can't be blamed for the 15% fee actually being there.

Venky's did full due diligence and are supposed to be very "hands on". So of course they or their advisers will have read all the clauses in Kalinic's contracts.

You can only be hands on when you actually know what it is you have your hands on. Otherwise it is all just mumbo jumbo as the totally out of her depth Mrs D is discovering.

As usual, lots of speculation still doing the rounds and I believe that there is a big slice of reality in it all - worryingly, very, very little positive.

I think it's 50/50 that we will not have a single new signing before the season kicks-off.

I honestly don't know where we go from here and I still think there is worse to come.

The Wolves match could, IMO, be a historical moment, as Ewood has not witnessed before what is likely to happen on the opening day of a season should Wolves beat us and I certainly would not bet against it.

we should have sold him for £5.9m then

I'm up in Scotland On holiday visiting family so reading and watching the sports news up here.

Goodwillie has just had rape charges against him dropped, the accuser is in te press today so not sure if it will go away quietly up here.

He was promising then the charges and the opposition crowds were slaughtering him and his head dropped big time with the charges he was facing.

His existing coaching staff in the press are advising him to go to rovers, as going to Glasgow will guarantee he gets grief from 50% of Glasgow and they are recommending against either old firm move.

Whether any of this is being done to rise his value who knows, but there's certainly some baggage and a rather grim situation he's trying to get away from

So as it stands....

Petrovic- All but signed just waiting on a work permit.

Goodwillie- Still favourites to sign him and probably will happen.

I'm guessing those two along with a defender and striker and things won't be considered so bad. What happened on the Mongongu front and does anyone know what is going on with Matthew Upson? I think he is still a free agent!

Also, has Nicko left the forum?

He is now probably roverinsider.

Kean quoted there are still 4 live bids been placed as of last night, we don't know for sure who they are (probably a good thing right now). I'm asumming these bids don't include Petrovic.

One probably is for Goodwillie.

So there are another potential 3 players.

I can confirm upson is still unsigned and free

Surely we should be taking a look at him then? Even if he commands high wages, the lack of a transfer fee would be able to cover that. He's also still only 32 so has a good 4 seasons left. Would be ideal replacement for Jones.
