Frankly, too many on here talk as if we're participating in a real life FM game.

I think players like Goodwillie are a much better fit for a club like ours...

Also, I love how quick people are to disregard potential signings.ie the monaco striker is "crap" when from what I've seen of him he looks quite tidy.

Some people really need to adjust their expectation level.

A-frickin-men! If I could give you +20 rep on this one post, I would!

I agree with you on something YD.

If Goodie cost £12m they probably wouldn't be complaining.

Though I would really like us to sign Raul and Podolski.

It's probably due to the fact that we expected the 'biggest budget he club has seen' this summer.

When it became apparent that that wasn't to happen, at the very least many expected us to be a 'trading' club, ie to spend whatever we garnered in transfer fees.

However, that does not even look likely, I have resigned myself to the fact that little has changed in the way the club does business to the later Trust years, 'buy cheap, sell high'. It is always a risk to continually sell your better players, but we are used to it by now.

The talk of big budgets and Venky's actually putting in their own capital for transfers was just a false dawn.

yes he can at a lower level, doesnt mean to say he will do it at the top level, i bet you think goodwillie is the answer to all our goalscoring problems. A player like raul would be much less of a gamble.

Why, because you've heard of him?

What the hell does Raul have to prove to anybody? 13 goals in the Bundeslegia doesnt seem to much better that 11 goals in Ligue 1 (Park). Do you think he's hungry for a Rainy 3pm kick off Vs Swansea. Is he balls. Frankly you can take your marquee signings and shove them up your arsenal.

The players were bidding for excite me more than most recent transfer window possibilities have. Yes, Im excited by Goodwillies.

Jason Roberts has just tweeted that he's met the owners and there's exciting times ahead. He's also been for ridies in one of fat lad's fast cars.

So there you have it. We're all worried about nothing at all.

I am sure he will be very happy with the signings incoming, his place in the first team is hardly at danger with the players we have signed with 12 days to go to the season start.

Joey Barton on a free? Yes please. We know he's of questionable character but he is a wonderful player, and just what our midfield needs. I've got a sneaky feeling he'll be off to join King Kenny's midfield-only Liverpool revolution though.

If we could convince him to join us it'd be a huge coup. And he'd probably keep Peds motivated with the threat of another smack in the chest...

If Rovers could sign Barton then he would be an ideal player for our team.

He has an engine, can score, takes a decent free kick and has a good passing ability. Yes he is also a complete clown but its on the ptch that matters.

As for Goodwilie, I think if we can outmuscle Rangers for his signature then get him onboard. Young, fast and an eye for goal, makes him a decent punt.

I would certainly support the shout for Booth.

I don't see either Olsson or Givet as particularly competent left backs.

I totally agree with you on this point Philip and Fraser, also, I think we vastly limit ourselves playing Olsson at LB, he's much more effective at LM, and Givet can cover at LB or CH...

Booth looks another good one, and as we all know, good LB's are like rocking horse pooh.

Interesting article from the guardian on us:

What about David Trezeguet. Swansea are in for him.

Think he'll end up back in Italy.

park is class. he is a very good player

How do you go from "class" to "a very good player"? :P

Who do we need right now? And dont tell me somebody who can put the ball in the back of the net. By all accounts, it sounds as if Goodwillie (should be complete the signing) sounds like he can. Any suggestions?

He can... in the SPL. Not every signing can be as cheap and good as Samba. He could be another Kalinic without the hefty pricetag.

Joey Barton says he is going to make an announcement about his future at 4pm.

I get the impression he wants to stay at newcastle but maybe they want to sell.

I really do hate this punk. Seriously. If we state interest in him, I'll have a huge problem with it.

To go back to one of our old links, Vucinic has signed for Juventus on a four year deal.

Like I said, he was on the list, but low down. After Aguero and Rossi were both knocked back, it seems Juventus went straight for Mirko.
