Olsson is young and will learn how to play left back . Remember ashley cole was a striker when he was arsenal youth

Definitely. He's brave and not afraid to put himself in where he might get hurt. He's better in the air than a lot of attacking full backs as well.

Defensive positional sense is definitely one of the things you can coach players beyond youth team level. That's why good managers can make poor teams hard to beat.

Olsson will be a top full back, mark my words! :)

If Rovers could sign Barton then he would be an ideal player for our team.

He has an engine, can score, takes a decent free kick and has a good passing ability. Yes he is also a complete clown but its on the ptch that matters.

As for Goodwilie, I think if we can outmuscle Rangers for his signature then get him onboard. Young, fast and an eye for goal, makes him a decent punt.

People go on about his bad history - which is very bad. But on the pitch, he is a very good player. Rovers have had players with a bad history before, Savage, el hadj - now going for goodwillie (noticed nobody has said they don't want him because of his (alledged) history. He would be a good player for Rovers.

Er on the pitch, punching Pedersen! Savage is in no way similar to Joey Barton, EHD is basically a prat but Barton is a psycho. I would hate to see him in a Rovers shirt. Same goes for Lee Hughes.

It's a huge insult to Savage to compare his bad history with Barton's. As far as I know he never punched a teammate or burnt another one with a cigar.

Add to that, no red cards in his career when he joined us.

SSN saying 2 london and 1 midland club interested in Barton.

Hopefully we can dodge this particular bullet!

That article suggests it could be Wednesday, he will have his medical, Rangers could make another 12 bids by then. Really hope we don't lose him because of this. Why is Kean in India again just 2 weeks before the season starts?

Medical re-arranged for tomorrow at mid-day.

Dundee confident transfer will be completed this week.

You could compare EHD to Barton, but to compare Savage to Barton is the sort of idiotic thing that the mainstream media would do. Savage liked to get under the skin of opponents, but he was by no means a nasty man or player. Barton is an unpleasant human being. I hope to never see him at the club, just as I hope to see EHD out of the door soon.

I know some Arsenal fans saying they are one of the teams thinking about signing Barton.

I think a centre mid pairing of Petrovic and Barton would be pretty damn good for us. Barton is a hell of gamble for anyone though. He has calmed down lately but he is a ticking time bomb.

Petrovic and Mongongu both find out this week if work permit/passport applications have been accepted.

Where is that from? I had no idea we were that far down the line with Mongongu. In fact I didn't even know we'd made a bid.

It's weird. His Tweets suggests he has far more intelligence than most footballers. They're well written and more interesting than the usual crap people that is passed off as 'banter'.

I guess that just supports the theory that he has at least one screw loose up there because he's not an idiot.

It actually shows he's an even bigger idiot than we thought.

He can't blame his actions on being brain dead!

i guess both ehd and barton have been or still are idiots, depending on which way you look at it. comparing footballing talent between these two is not possible...they are at opposite ends of the stratosphere. barton is an excellent footballer and him playing infront of our back 4, with the vision and passing abilty that he has...would be very good.

the guy is a douche - don`t want him eanywhere near Rovers. He is a scumbag, even worse publicity for Rovers and our owners if and when it would go wrong, or he stepped out of line, lets face it, he hasn`t behaved anywhere he has gone, and rovers would be exactly the same.

he is talented yes, has he sacrificed his career somewhat by havign the wrong abilitiy to control himself yes = wasted talent, but not for Rovers IMO

I think the thing with Mongongu (I may have got the name wrong, not sure) is that as it stands he doesn't have a valid passport.

Whilst he doesn't have a passport it makes it near impossible to sign him. We may well have a fee agreed, and a contract agreed, but we're waiting on either a.) He gets the french passport and we can sign him or b.) The French passport application gets declined and we haven't got a hope in hell of getting a work permit.

That is my understanding.

Petrovic is all done and waiting for the work permit rubber stamp. This might take a few days and there is absolutely nothing that can be done about it.

Again, this is what I think. I make no claims to insider knowledge at all.

He's the kind of player I would have considered if we still had Big Sam. He needs a big, no nonsense personality to keep him in check, I don't think he'd respect Kean enough to toe the line.

Either that or you'd need to assign a couple of the 6'2"+ lads to mind him and keep him out of trouble.
